Well, let's start at the beginning: DJ's was closed, which was why we'd come to Ludlow in the first place. Just can't get enough of their salad bar and their salmon stuffed w/ shrimp and crab. Mr. Honey said he'd always wanted to open up a place, and name it The PotBelly Deli. As he's owned three restaurants, we can't figure out why he never did this, and what fortuitousness that we did end up coming here. So let's just say we'd always meant to try this place. I ordered the Salmon w/ sauteed baby spinach, sauteed mushrooms, linguini, sun-dried tomatoes and pesto cream sauce. OMG! It's THE best salmon dish I've ever had, and I make some pretty damn fabulous salmon dishes, let me tell you. Mr. Honey ordered the mussels to start which were incredibly delicious (and YAY! not overcooked!) The salad was good, the bread was excellent, and the French Onion Soup was classic and completely adequate, too; maybe a bit too much bread and wine in it, but thoroughly adequate and more importantly, not too salty, which often happens, especially in restaurants. The Small Fry ordered nachos which were falling-off-the-plate GYNORMOUS, and with homemade chili that was full of lovely meat and beans and spices, to boot. What's not to like? So everybody is happy, and munching away. One thing, and it's tiny: The person(s) who both copywrote the menu and manage(s) the restaurant needs to figure out the differences between bruschetta and brochette. To mix them up is unacceptable in a professional restaurant and makes one look quite simply, stupid. Our waitress wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but she was nice, and attentive enough. This I can settle for, having dealt with abject rudeness and lack of care and attention in so many places, so many times before. Oh yeah: The chocolate pudding cake w/ vanilla and chocolate cream sauces and the coffee left both the Small Fy and myself wet and panting to say the least. Cocoa/coffee O's are the very best kind, too! All in all: A GEM, and who knew from the outside or the name? We're going back tonight for my birthday!
