My Husband and I bought a very old home in Burlingame, CA we decided to restore our new home. We where refereed to Peninsula Plating, I called and Marie one of the owners spoke to me and explained they would need to come to our home to give an estimate to do all the old hardware for the home. Tony knew this hardware was very old and made suggestions on how it should be restored. With that my husband and I had Tony restore all the hardware from door hinges to light switches, doorknobs and chandlers etc.. we are so pleased how everything came out so beautiful. They give us samples to approve. They go beyond expertise. the cost for what we had Peninsula Plating do was reasonable. The work was done on time. (PERFECT)\r We have recommend Peninsula Plating to all our friends and colleagues.\r Thank you Tony & Marie.\r Linda F. more

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! \r We sent them silver candlesticks for repair. Six months later we got them back. It was a horrible job with blobs of silver holding it together. Not what I had envisioned. So we sent it back. \r \r Over the following year we would check in with them periodically to see how it was coming along. They would tell us stories about how difficult it was, it takes time, we ordered a part and the wrong part was delivered, so they were ordering another part, etc. excuse after excuse.\r \r Several times we tried to pin them down on a date it would be finished. That date would come and go, with nothing delivered. It was very frustrating because they didn't do what they said they would do. We couldn't believe them. After that long we wondered if they even still had them. In desperation I told them I would call the cops if they didn't return them, trying to light a fire under their butts.\r \r Finally, after yet another excuse I told them just to stop and FedEx them back. At one point he told me they were just old beat up candlesticks. (Those are antique family heirlooms!) She agree and told me she would refund $125 out of the $325 we paid in advance. Two weeks later still nothing! I called them and the man told me he was polishing them up and planned to mail them today. I told him never mind, I will come to pick them up now.\r \r I asked them if they had worked on the other candlestick and they said no. The one we wanted fixed was still in pieces. So then I asked what am I paying $200 for, why am I only getting $125 back, and nothing has been done? She started yelling at me and told me to never come back and to stick the those candlesticks up my a**. The man started yelling at her and pushing out a back door. Then he would say I'm tired of all this arguing stop it. Then he would start ranting at me because he thought I hadn't treated him well over the phone. Then she came out again yelling and he was wrestling her back out the back door. All this while another woman customer was waiting.\r \r I was speechless and just wanted to get my candlesticks and go. She was still yelling at me from another room and then marched back in and said she would give me a full refund, but to notice that they had signs on the wall that said No Refunds. Also to take my money and stick it up my a**. How can they feel that justified when they had them for more than a year and a half and never did the job? I don't get it. They must have problems way bigger than my silver candlesticks. more

Great Job 8/3/2011

Peninsula Plating Incorporated is a small restoration shop on the peninsula I took some very old family pieces there for restoration and was pleasently suprised of how helpful and professional they are they have anywere from a week or a month turnaround time depending on how buzy they are for me it took less than three weeks or so. I picked up my pieces and was stunned to see how wonderful of a job they did they went from being very tarnished and pitting on some pieces to looking like I just got them new. I was also told they do much more than silver restoration which was suprising but helpful to know. They did ask for half down on my project and did not take credit cards on very small deposits due too fees. I was given an option to pay by credit card still But all in all I can understand the credit card issue intirely with the econmy and they are a small business. I do recommend them highly very nice staff and great customer service . more

Good work, very slow, erratic service quality. 12/9/2010

I'd like to give this place a better review, because Tony, the plater is a hard-working tradesman who knows his job & does it well. Trouble is getting pieces back in a timely fashion isn't happening. The woman who runs the front desk, Marie, is very disorganized & sometimes can't find things when I go to pick up. I've waited 16 months now for some small items & never would have used this place if I'd dreamed it would take so long. Last time I was there, asking for my things, Marie went mental on me, screamed, & tried to give back unfinished items - thing is, I pre-paid, by check or cash, half of the estimated cost of each repair when I left it for them to do. That's what they require. No credit cards. I've waited now 16 months for replating a small item (which actually was done once then was dropped & damaged by Marie & was to be "fixed"), removing lacquer from a cup, & removing a dent from another. When I first went there in May '09, business was very slow & they were eager for my little jobs, and friendly. Asked me to bring more stuff. They've let me know they have bigger jobs now, but I did pre-pay 50% of the cost & I still don't have my items. more
