I contracted with Cazeault Roofing to replace the roof on my Dad's house on Cape Cod. I was impressed by their fancy brochure and big list of references. They appeared to be responsive before the sale. I asked them to remove a small section of the existing cedar shakes to confirm that there was plywood sheathing. They said that they did and that there was solid wood sheathing so all I needed was the shingles.\r
They began the work and then called me stating there was no plywood sheathing and they would have to install it at extra cost. I asked them for a price to install the plywood. They went ahead anyway and sent me a bill for extra plywood, trim and siding that they also replaced. Needless to say, the price was a lot higher than they quoted. But that's not what bothered me the most.\r
When I went out to the Cape (I live in NY) to inspect the work, I thought the shingle roof looked OK but the carpentry work was terrible, the trim didn't fit at all, the siding courses were so uneven that it was noticable from 50 feet away. So I paid the majority of the invoice, witheld 10% and wrote them that I was dissatisfied with the carpentry work. They never responded except to send me another bill with interest. I have sent them another note asking them nicely to please respond to my complaint. If no response, my next letter will be to the better business, attorney general and chamber of commerce. \r
