At Orange Park Kindergarten we believe that young children learn best by doing. The child at O.P.K. is provided with the experiences in which he can actively explore his environment and manipulate materials to learn. We provide many opportunities for the child to learn through play. The preschool and kindergarten child needs to be in a place where a child can grow and flourish intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. Each child's talents, needs, interests, and capabilities are unique to that individual. Finally, we feel it is our job to protect and bolster the young child's self-esteem. It needs to be nourished by caring, perceptive and understanding teachers and staff. O.P.K. was established in 1960. Our building was built with the sole purpose of providing an optimal learning environment for ages 2 through kindergarten. We've been a VPK Educational Program Provider since the 2007/2008 school year. Our VPK program incorporates Literacy, Math, Phonics, Social Skills a nd pre-writing to enhance your child's learning experience. Our score for each of the previous years have been as follows: 2006-2007 School Year - 285 out of 300. 2007-2008 School Year - 285 out of 300. 2008-2009 School Year - 191 out of 200.
