Our family had the privilege of visiting the Laura and Oak Alley plantations with Old River recently. We were very impressed with our guide (Elmer?), who was a fountain of knowledge. He kept us regaled throughout the trip with very interesting and relevant anecdotes and pieces of information. We have no qualms recommending their outstanding service offering to others. They helped to make the day trip out of New Orleans a truly memorable one. Thanks again! more

We chose the Oak Alley and Laura Plantation tour. Our guide, Elmore, picked us up promptly at the scheduled time and spent the trip to and from the plantations giving us lots of information and history about the New Orleans area. The two plantation tours were very different and complimented each other well. The tour at Laura plantation was based on the memoir of one of the former residents. There was a lot of focus on slavery in Louisiana during this tour. The Oak Alley property was very impressive and our tour guide gave us lots of information about the property, but it didn't seem as personal as the Laura tour. I highly recommend this tour group for plantation tours. more

Our guide Elmer was full of information! Throughout our trip he provided an endless stream of interesting facts and information about New Orleans, the plantations and Louisiana. He was never boring - always kept our interest and our attention.\r The plantations themselves were certainly worth the visit. The Laura Plantation was very interesting but we particularly enjoyed the Oak Alley plantation. The house and avenue of oaks were fantastic.\r A great day out! \r more

The vehicle we had was comfortable. Our experience with Laura and Oak plantations was really good as well. The driver (an older gentleman) was an expert on the history of New Orleans and surrounding plantations. This was a half day well spent. more

We did the full day tour, visiting Laura and Oak Alley and the swamp. We were picked up outside the French Quarter and the driver called both of our cell phones to confirm the time -- I really appreciated that. more

The large van picked us up from our hotel on time. The driver gave a good narrated tour on the way to Oak Alley and Laura. Both plantations had excellent tours. more

This was a great company to use. It was the only company that visited Evergreen Plantation which I highly recommend. It was the best!! Old River will pick you up form your hotel, they were on time and the driver Richard was so sweet and informative. more

We had a charming French tour guide named Philippe. I enjoyed his stories and jokes - it really made the hour rides to and from the plantations fly by. Not to mention the educational factor. Awesome experience! more

We're completely sold on Old River Road. They are professional and there's never any question about what's going to happen and when. Richard was our driver/guide and he's filled with knowledge of the area that's delivered in a manner that's easy to understand and adds to the trip. You can't go wrong with Old River Road. more

We decided to do a joint plantation and swamp tour through this company after talking to the concierge at our hotel. We were picked up at the time we were told by a minibus. The tour guide was very friendly and informative. We then did a tour of the Laura and Oak Alley plantations, which I would recommend. The tours of both plantations were fantastic. We were then picked up again by the same tour guide and taken to a restaurant for some Cajun cooking and then onto the swamp. The whole experience was fantastic. Each individual tour was very informative, but the icing on the cake was the tour guide on the minibus giving so much information about local sites and history during the drive to and from the destinations. more

Really enjoyed this tour. Went to see St Joseph plantation and oak alley plantation. Driver Phillipe was excellent. He talked all about New Orleans as we drove to and from the plantations., and gave us an insight into his experience as a local during Katrina in 2005. A tour I will never forget. Plus, as a bonus on the way back, he took us past the plantation where Tarrantino's film 'Django' was filmed!!! more
