Nightmare Jackson Street 6/2/2013

My mother went to the emergency room at Oak Bend in Richmond Tx. They did a good job at the ER and she was admited to the hospital. However it went down hill from there. I could write a book on the problems this hospital has, Like most hospitals they all have good people and bad. But this hospital has a lot of bad. Mom was in pain most of the time with cancer, however they were treating her for an infection. She was in ICU and the first night the nurse call button did not work and the nurse keep telling my mom she was not pusing the button, the next day a tech came in to change out the entire board to fix the problem. This happen to us again, along with the monitors continuing to not function properly. The family took turns to stay with her while she was in ICU and in her room on the 5th floor. It would be wrong to say all the nurse were bad, there were some excellent and caring people on the staff. But there were some that were just awful. Mom has been in this hospital for 6 weeks. I more

Can definitely improve 6/16/2011

They forgot me during the labor and delivery or it seemed like my remote didn't work. By the time I got the nurses- ( both were incredibly sweet and I loved them- so probably this was not their fault so much as it was the equipment should have a light or a bell to let you know if it is actually paging the nurses?) - it was too late to get anesthesia. So I had to have the baby with nothing to help for pain. For a new facility the equipment should work. They suspected the baby would start to come around eight in the morning. Which could be why they never checked on me however they were supposed to be monitoring my contractions with the belt feed. No one came. \r We paid out of pocket up front for the care. The rates were competitive with the surrounding hospitals. We had to arrange it all with the anesthesiologist on our own. But the hospital was supposed to call them when it was time. I think if you're paying out your pocket get a pager number for your anesthesiologist and have your pa more

Concerned 9/29/2010

Several attempts to reach patient in hospital room were unsuccessful. I had to call nurse's station to have patient checked-on. Simple telephone procedures of forwarding calls to respective patients, are obiviously not a requirement to know for working as an "operator". When my daughter was admitted, she was informed that her co-pay was three times more, than what they had paid, and after they were told there was some mistake. It turned out, the hospital staff had made a "mistake". It's pretty scarey to read some of the reveiws this facility, (OakBend Memorial), is getting. I certainly hope these concerns are addressed, and better training, and patient sensitivety, is paramount with hospital administrators, or look for a very short business existance. more

Thanks Oak Bend 8/15/2010

I am 6 months pregnant and started having complications. I called my Dr. who is Dr. Garza and he asked me to go to Oak Bend on the Freeway. They were busy. The nurses made me feel like I was the only one. They were great and reassuring. I am glad we have this hospital in our community. more

Never again! 6/3/2010

This is a terrible place to have a baby!!! There were no anethesia available and they told me sorry,l you can't get an epidural. I was in so much pain and no one seemed to care. I kept having to push the calll ight and no one would come. Finally I had tohave a c section and had to be put to sleep. i could feel everything!!! my baby was okay, but I still have nightmares about this experience. the nurses were rude and uncaring. They did not feed me because they "forgot to put in the order." more

Dr. Garza and Oak Bend are great 4/16/2010

I am 2 months pregnant and needed to find an ob/gyn and hospital. My last child was at Herman sugar land and it was okay but nothing like my first delivery at then Polly Ryon. I have heard so many good things about Oak Bends maternity on the freeway I made an appointment with Dr. Garza who is a great doctor, I just love him and he suggested I take a tour of Oak Bend. The staff is so wonderful both at the doctor's office and the hospital. I am so glad I made the right chose. more

An Oustanding 2/23/2010

My mother was admitted to Oakbend Medical Center at Williams Way recently for abdominal pain. The entire experience eased the worries of my mother and the rest of the family. From the emergency room to the admission, the process was pleasant. The emergency room staff worked diligently to find a solution for her pain. The admitting physician, consultants, and nursing staff was outstanding. Thanks Oakbend for making this a great hospital experience. more

Oak Bend ER 2/22/2010

Recently we had to take my 2 year old daughter to the emergency room the first time we went to Herman Sugar Land and waited for 2 hours just to be sent home with nothing. My 2 year old's fever was getting higher and she was vomiting we took her to Oak Bend at Williams Way. The ER was so nice and very caring. They took xrays and blood work, only to find out my daughter had pneumonia and was becoming dehydrated. She was given medication and we even got a phone call the next morning checking on her condition. I will use Oak Bend from now on......It is nice to have such caring people who take the time with you. more

Thank you 2/22/2010

I am so greatful to have Oak Bend Hospital in our community. I have heard all the stories however my mother was recently in a life threatening situation and needed immediate care. The emergency room was great, and we visited every floor in our two week stay. The doctor's were wonderful and it was that personal touch that meant alot. I had one concern and when I brought it to the staff's attention it was immediately addressed. I was amazed how much the facility has changed for the better. Thank you Oak Bend because of you I still have my mother. more

Melinda C 2/16/2010

During the holidays I was home visiting my parents and became very ill over a week-end. After seeing the waiting area at Memorial Herman, I visited the Emergency Room at Oak Bend Hospital on the freeway. I was in with a doctor in less than 15 minutes and was treated very well. After some IV meds and a couple of tests, I was out the door within an hour and a half with prescriptions in hand. The doctor and staff were friendly and when I followed up with my personal doctor he did not add or change anything. In fact he was very pleased with how I had been taken care of. I would recommend them to friends or family. more

We want to take the opportunity to thank the staff at OakBend Hospital for the wonderful care that you gave our mother during her stay at the hospital. It takes very special people to care and show such kindness and concern for someone that is going through pain and suffering. The staff showed a lot of sympathy and sincere concern for our mom and also made our time with her very comfortable. The OakBend staff allowed us to spend all the time we needed to be with mom on a daily basis. We rally appreciate them all very much. more

I am personally alive & walking again because of Oak Bends state of the art trama ER; I was hit directly in my driver side door by a drunk driver. Broke my Femure/arm, internal trama; They were able to care for me right here in Richmond verses having to life-flight me to the Houston Medical Center.\r I love these guys ! more

OAK BEND AWFUL TERRIBLE 1/18/2010

I had called one morning which was a saturday at 4 am and the operator answered the phone and I ask her to transfer me over to er so I can speak to someone like a nurse in er before I decide to bring my 9 year old daughter there, and the operator told me that she cannot transfer me to er and that I cant talk to the nurse, I was like, this is a bunch of crap and this is ridiculous, after I hung up on that operator, I did not feel comfortable taking my 9 year old daughter there not after the way the operator talked to me like that, so I ended up taking my 9 year old daughter to memorial hermann in sugarland off of 99 and 59, what a GREAT CHOICE I made, I love that place, very nice, very clean, GREAT PEOPLE, the staff was very kind, the doctor was great also, I overall give them a star 10 and I rate oak bend -0, now that is bad to say. Memorial hermann did there job for my 9 year old, we went in at 5 and we were out by 830, they took xrays and blood work quick. I also even called memorial more

Oak Bend Medical Ctr On Hwy 90 Is Old and Falling Apart. 11/9/2009

OakBend on Hwy 90 is a Horrible Hospital Falling apart, with the Staff just as bad. I went into the Er at 7.30a with pains in my chest during breathing; The Dr. and Nurse took very mininimal efforts to take care of my pain, which could still be felt after their efforts... Being in a hospital that have everything it takes to put one out of their pain.. I was finally admited to a room at 3:45p. What a horrible experience, It was like the Charge Nurse thought she was a Drill Sergent. The other nurse threw a plactic bag with 2 cups for water after I asked for the second time. I let it be known I needed something for pain and she told me all the Dr. ordered was Tylenol, 2 antibiotics via mouth, and breathing treatments. My Dr was out on Family emergency, so I had her fill in Dr. It took me hours to finally get something for pain. I had to beg and scream for the little dosage she tried to pacify me with. They then moved me to a room with no way to turn ANY light on from within the bed more

Oak Bend Medical Ctr is HORRIBLE! 9/13/2009

I had to have my gall bladder removed and was taken to their ER during one of my attacks. They left me sitting in excruciating pain in the waiting room before finally seeing me. By the time a Dr. came in the attack was nearly over. I was admitted after the onset of a 2nd attack & told the surgeon would see me between 4-6pm. He came in at 12:50am! I wasn't allowed to eat for 2 days while they tried to "squeeze me in" to their operating schedule and then the Dr was over an hour late once I got on the schedule! He waltzed in w/ Starbuck's like he was a movie star and I was an inconvenience to him. The nurses were terrible. I was left in pain for hours after my operation despite my pages to the nurse's station. When I was finally given pain meds I asked for anti-nausea meds as well and was told the nurse would be right back w/ them...she came back 3hrs later AFTER I vomited twice! This is the worst hospital EVER!!! more

Not emergent for Oak Bend 1/26/2009

My niece was a pt here at Oak through the ER and she did not have insurance and was turned away. She was coming for heavy bleeding for over a week and she was very weak. We called Memorial Herman Sugar land in the parking lot of Oak Bend and they told us to bring her right away. When they saw her it was a surprised that she had been turned away. She was pale and her blood count was 4.She spent 4 days there and did not have surgery. If she had just waited to go to the clinic like Oak Bend told her i really dobt she could have made it. Like Marvin Zindler says "It is hell to be poor" more

TERRIBLE! 6/19/2008

The service received from Oak Bend was terrible from the ER to the floor my mother was moved to. My mother was told she was going to admitted to the hospital we asked why and no answer was given, the Dr. finally came in and we were asked what did we need to know (Dr.Randolph).My mother's BP was to be taken and the stupid nurse came in and tapped her on the arm where her IV was placed.I have more but by now you get the picture about what service you will receive form Oak Bend. more

Top notch care available at Oak Bend 3/25/2006

I was very pleasantly surprised when my husband was a patient at Oak Bend. He was brought in by ambulance to the emergency center and was then admitted to a room. This is a smaller community hospital, and I was not sure what level of care to expect. He actually received very excellent care, and I was very relieved and pleased. He was actually moved later to a rehabilitation facility that turned out to be a great referral, so we were grateful to Oak Bend for that guidance as well. PROS: Excellent emergency room and hospital care close to home CONS: more

Received Quality Care 3/5/2006

I had to have outpatient surgery done here and was skeptical at first. I had heard good and bad stories about the hospital in the past. However, I must say from my own experiences it was nothing but good all the way. From the pre-check in and tests to end result-no problems. I had several different tests and workups done prior to the surgery and each department was professional and efficient. The outpatient surgery department was friendly, very skilled in their profession, and wonderful to the patients. What ever you needed, they took care of-they were ALL top quality professionals. more
