Best food in town 7/7/2011

Food is amazing. Every time I come here, I feel like I never want to leave. Very chic atmosphere with a relaxing mood. The service is great and the staff really does a terrific job at taking care of you. The appetizers are delicious. Theres plenty of places to park: theres a parking lot across the street and a parkin garage up the street within walking distance. Most of the time I find myself looking at my watch waiting for the food to come, but here I was so entertained with the fun atmosphere that I was pleasantly surprised when my food arrived more

Luv this place--sit at the Sushi Bar! 3/25/2011

Great staff--always has great reccomendations of what fish to try, etc. Went there with my friend from out of town last week and have been before and both times had a great dining experience! more

Delish! 8/17/2010

The fresh scallop with key lime is ridiculously good...and so is pretty much everything else. The kobe beef tacos are a MUST and the flourless chocolate cake is AMAZING! more

Best. Restaurant. Ever. 5/9/2010

I try to eat at Nobu at least once a month. Whatever the bill ends up being, it's always, always worth it. The service is just incredible. The waitstaff always remembers me and they are as friendly as can be. Probably helps that they are all actors. But seriously, they couldn't be better, I always expect awesome service and they never disappoint. The food is top notch. It's amazing, I have never had a single bite of food there that I didn't love. Try the King Crab Tempura and you will fall in love with it. The yellowtail jalapeno sashimi is also a staple. I really like the spicy tuna with crispy rice, the rock shrimp tempura, the seared tuna belly, it all rocks. It wouldn't be a night of sushi without some sake too. I don't know why anyone would not be pleased with a night out at Nobu. It's full of industry players, celebs, and beautiful people. The environment inspires success. Like I said, price shouldn't even be an issue. Get the damn bill, pay a generous amount to the awesome waitstaff and hurry back because Nobu is awesome. Pros: service is unbeatable, food is amazing. Cons: can't think of any cons. more

Spotted Vanessa Summers there! 2/10/2010

I was recently at Nobu's last Thursday and I saw Vanessa Summers of the Online Marketing Academy eating a spring roll. How cool, I have been to her events in the pass and loved them. Of course I ordered the spring roll and it was yummy. Pros: Love their sushi Cons: the wait more

Over-salted, over-sauced, and under-whelming. 12/2/2009

Why did I even come here? My sister wanted to try Nobu for her birthday. Big mistake. The careless waitstaff brought her SOMEONE ELSE'S birthday dessert. The dish had written in chocolate on it ""Happy 30th Birthday Olivia"". My sister is Annie and she was turning 26, so you know this is a major screw up. The waiter apologized but didn't offer to comp anything. In fact, he left the offending plate under the dessert. Faux pas? REMOVE THE WRONG PLATE, DUMBASS. They left the dessert and my sister stared at some other woman's name and the wrong birthday age through dessert. So if you care to know how bad the dishes were, let me give you a run down. The highlight of the night was the shishito peppers and bottled Voss sparkling water. Serious. The oysters were over-sauced, the toro tartar was the size of a dead fat goldfish (and looked like it) and mediocre -- and $32. The spiny lobster came in three formations: tempura, and two sashimi variations. Artful, but over-saturated with sauce so you could hardly taste the lobster. Yellowtail japaneno was a yawn. The octopus carpaccio was mediocre, cut way too thick, and fell apart with chopsticks (uh.. I've never seen fresh octopus do this). The dessert was a botched birthday debaucle, and I basically spent $359 to be embarrassed for Nobu's failures. If they had any class, they'd bend over backward to remedy the birthday debaucle. But no, I received the bill in full. No free champagne for the birthday girl, just pithy apologies from the ignorant wait staff. Next time I'm in Los Angeles I'm checking the Michelin guide! Nobu is too much money for not much quality. I get better fish at authentic Japanese hole-in-the-wall restaursnts in Los Angeles. Pros: Decor, cute gay guys Cons: The food, the service more

fun 9/12/2009

Just okay 3/3/2009

I went to Nobu for the first time last week, and was kind of disappointed. I'm a big sushi fan, and thought that the fish was not that fresh. The waiters took their time refilling glasses, and weren't that helpful or courteous. The look of the restaurant is nice, though, and thought that it was a pleasant setting for a meal, if only the meal had been a little better. Pros: great decorations Cons: fish wasn't that fresh, wish the waiters had been more attentive more

Good Fun 1/14/2009

Ate here just a couple weeks back and I enjoyed my experience. The sushi was great but pricey, the ambiance was very nice and I can tell they take the time to make sure things looked good around here. All in all, good fun with good service and food. more

A little too obvious 1/12/2009

I was at that party as well, and the door was a huge hassle. The bouncers seemed to think they were little gods. I'm willing to put up with that kind of attitude sometimes to get into a really good Hollywood club, but at a sushi restaurant? I did like the decor, and can't comment on the drinks (stuck with wine), but the place was crowded and doesn't have the best floor-plan, and I haven't talked to anyone who really loved the venue as a party spot. It might be a great restaurant, I don't know. Also, does it seem a little suspicious that the second there's a bad review about the bouncers, suddenly two five-star reviews pop up saying how great the party was and how friendly the doormen are? You have to wonder which employee from Nobu wrote those. Pros: Decor, decent wine list Cons: Door, floor-plan, bad party spot more

Not so great 1/12/2009

Weird, because I was at the same birthday party last Friday, and I thought the drinks were mediocre and over-priced. The wait staff were okay, but not that attentive, and it took forever to get a drink.\r \r The food here is not bad, but not really any better than a Sushi Roku, so you have to wonder what all the fuss is about. Pros: Good central location Cons: Slow wait staff, drinks are mediocre and over-priced more

Great hangout spot 1/12/2009

I was invited to a party at Nobu on Friday night. I've eaten there many times but never knew they had a live DJ on certain nights. The food was awesome, as always, and the music set a great vibe. Great party and music without all the hassles you encounter elsewhere. Nobu has evolved into a great hangout. Pros: food, vibe more

Super fun Super Good 1/10/2009

Went to Nobu last night for a friends birthday and had the best time. The staff not only attentive and nice but hot! The DJ and atmosphere was fun! And as always the food is the best sushi ever, always creative. Lychee martini is my favorite. Would def recommend for a fun night out w/ friends w/o all the drama of doormen. more

Service has become terrible. 1/9/2009

I showed up for a good friend's birthday party, for which I was on the list, and was told the bar was ""at capacity"". When I pointed out that dozens of people had left in the last ten minutes, I was then informed that I would only be let in if I bought a bottle for a couple hundred dollars. The doorman was incredibly sleazy and rude. I couldn't believe that this was what Nobu has descended into. I've spent quite a bit of money at the restaurant, but I won't be returning again. more

My FAVORITE resteraunt in LA! 1/5/2009

I am from Bakersfield. Every time I come down to LA, I must find a way to have sushi at Nobu. Everything here is amazing. The ambiance is hip. And the staff are all nice, not to mention HOT! :)\r My recommendations are the tuna sashimi, the white fish with dried miso flakes, and the eggplant. yummmmm!\r You?ll probably even see a Hollywood celeb, as I do EVERY time I go there.\r Pros: LOVE LOVE LOVE Cons: a little pricey more

Good service, not such good sushi 1/1/2009

I have been to Nobu Las Vegas and Miami. The service was excellent and the waitress was real friendly. The price isnt THAT bad but the food just isnt that good but if you wanna go for the heck of it I think youll have fun....just dont expect great sushi Pros: Great service, nice decor, good drinks Cons: sushi was not good at all ( i am professional) more

An Experience!! 12/24/2008

Went last night and had a great time. Food was great, the food is an event in itself, service was fantastic , and it was a great scene. We sat in the main room so it was a little noisy, but other than that it was AMAZING!! I will be back! Pros: food, service, ambience Cons: noisy more
