Walmart all over again 8/27/2010

I have enjoyed the Movie Palace for several years. It is usually clean & a safe place for my kids to meet their friends for a good movie and hanging out together. I know the owners personally. When it first opened the idea was to have a good place for kids to be entertained at an AFFORDABLE price. There was another cinema in town that the Movie Palace owners claimed was ripping people off and prices ere high. The Movie Palace was opened to stop that. However, ticket prices are fair but concession stand prices are extremely over priced. Let's get real here. $10 or more for a bag of popcorn & a coke. Come on. This is the kettle calling the pot black. Or the Walmart game plan. Run out the competition and you free to raise prices as much as you want. Check it out !!!! more

Movie Palace = So/So 8/7/2005

The Movie Palace in Elizabethtown, Kentucky is the only cinema still in business. They started out as the budget cinema, managed to drive out all competition, and then became the only cinema in town. The premises is kept clean, no complaints on that aspect. They have 2 concession stands. One is in the entrance, the other back by the screens. I have always had an enjoyable experience there. Screen size and sound system is average for an operation this large. The newer, more popular films have the nicest theatres, while the less popular films have drastically smaller rooms. My only complaint is the lack of decoration/cinema appeal present. The building that houses the Movie Palace looks like a poorly made warehouse. The construction was done with no bells and whistles. It is merely a building that houses an average cinema. Expect to pay around $7.00 per ticket. Not a bad price for this day and age. more

Not too shabby for a small-town theater 6/24/2005

The Movie Palace is the only weekend reprieve in Elizabethtown besides Wal-mart. There are plenty of big screens, and in the past few years the business has been booming with additions of new theaters and complete makeovers of the old theaters into "stadium" seating, as it is called. The chairs finally flex, and the surround sound brings you closer to the film. more
