Great Hotel BUT... 2/7/2011

It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at referer.us/8/GoodHotelDeals They usually have some pretty good deals on there! more

Tiny Kitchen 2/7/2010

If you saw the kitchen, you would not believe the food that comes out of it. Superior food with the right touch. more

Always a great experience 12/19/2008

One of the neat things about this place is that the frequent menu changes ensure you will be delightfully surprised by what is currently being offered. I love, love, love their salads and the fact that they always have plenty for me to chose from in the veggie/seafood line. more

wonderful 4/11/2008

great wine, amazing food, wonderful service, phenomenal atmosphere-----5 stars all the way! The food is stellar, make a reservation, you will not regret it! Pros: everything Cons: nada more

Not Sophisticated, Just Casually Excellent 9/30/2007

There are probably only four or five restaurants in Columbia that can rank with Motor Supply. The ever-changing menu is an insurance policy against culinary laziness. There is always something new waiting for you at this, the best restaurant in the Vista. Here you can count on an exciting dish that has been prepared with thought and care. The cuisine is progressive American (I have no idea why it is listed as French here--perhaps the editors can correct this) but the chef seems to trust his ingredients enough to create simple, delicious harmonies rather than overwrought cacophonies. Out of over ten visits, I only had one bad dish (duck which was ordered medium yet cooked beyond well-done and dry as a bone). Every other time I have had excellent meals consisting of wonderfully fresh ingredients. Ample portions & entrees in the mid-$20 range make for a great value as well. The wine list is full of nice selections by the glass, with an eye toward value rather than pretension; that said, there are also plenty of bottles for over $150 on the complete list for the enologically inclined. Go and eat there, soon. \r \r Pros: stellar food, great service, wonderful location Cons: once had overcooked duck, but that is a rare (ahem) exception more

Mediocre, seating issues 8/24/2006

I found the food mediocre. At the time of my visits, seating was restricted so that a party of two could only sit at a table for two EVEN IF there were several available 4-person tables. Not inviting at all! At my last visit, I inadvertently left a jacket, called to get the jacket held for my pickup (and was told it was there), but when I got there, no one could find my jacket! more

All Hype ! 8/10/2006

Can someone please tell me what is good about Motor Supply? The food is fair some days and terrible some days. The wait staff does not know the product they are presenting. The noise levels are completely unacceptable. You cant even hear people at your own table.\r \r Columbia is not a sophisticated town. I think the perception that Motor Supply is a good and/or sophisticated restaurant is all that is needed to make it a reality in the minds of many Columbia diners. Cons: Expensive, Terrible Parking, Noisy more

Different menu every time! 1/12/2006

The food is FANTASTIC! The chef works magic in the kitchen. The most wonderful thing is, the menu is very original and different every time you go there. The service was good, but the wait can be very long. One time, we waited two hours to get a table, but they gave us two free appetizers for our patience. Otherwise, the servers are very friendly and know their stuff when it comes to food and beverage. more

Excellent but fairly expensive 2/6/2003

Food was great. Neat thing about Motor Supply Co. is the menu. It changes every day. We sat outside for lunch, which was nice. The service was excellent and the food was good. The presentation was also good. Overall, it was a great dining experience. Good food, good service and good ambience makes for a good time. (Throw in good company and you are set!) Pros: Good Food, Good Ambience Cons: Expensive more

Awesome location, ambience, and food! 9/26/2002

This is the best place we have found in Columbia. The food is wonderful, the service prompt, and the setting romantic. They change their menu every night, and the food was creative and fresh. They also have a Sunday brunch, which is rare for Columbia! check it out... Pros: location, service, ambience more

YUM!! 7/30/2002

WE have been to MS over 300 times and have always been impressed with the quality of food, atmosphere and service. It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for. We love the Sunday Brunch Cons: parking more

  • Located in the historic Congaree Vista with a heated patio and free valet parking, Motor Supply has been serving progressive, New World cuisine using classic French culinary techniques for over 20 years. Led by Executive Chef Wesley Fulmer, the kitchen's lunch, dinner and brunch handwritten menus change daily, featuring contemporary New American cuisine, with nods to Creole, Cajun, New Southern, French, Italian and Asian cuisine. We are Columbia's foremost "farm to fork" restaurant, working with local, sustainable farms for produce, meats, SC seafood and more. Seafood is caught off of the Carolina coast, and all of our stocks, sauces and desserts are made on site, including our charcuterie, with house-made sausages, bacon, country pate, and rillettes, all the way down to the pickles and mustard. Our early 19th century, solid-oak bar with marble columns, imported from Europe, serves 180+ fine wines (Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence, 2006-12), an extensive list of imported, domestic and local craft beers, as well as an artisan farm-to-shaker cocktail list made from house-infused liquors, handmade bitters, barrel-aged spirits and locally-sourced ingredients and garnishes.
