We took some friends who were visiting from Canada recently. The food was very good and cooked right and their bread is fantastic. The staff was attentive and friendly. I love th...

This was a great restaurant in the 60's, 70's for a dinner & a place to take out of town guests. I'll never go again, as I consider it over-priced, over-rated for what our party ...

A Must Stop! 3/21/2004

Monti's is the steakhouse I travel cross the valley to entertain all of my out of town guests. The wooden booths and lighting gives it that old west feel and the steaks have never disappointed. My repeat visitors insist on Monti's....the food, service and cold beer is always a sure crowd pleaser. more

Indepndent steakhouse at it's best 3/11/2004

Roman bread, roquefort dressing, filet mignon, 23 ounce beers, if you've been to Monti's you know what I'm talking about! Great food, great service, and best value in Arizona. If you've never been you need to, if you have I'm sure you'll be back. In a chain dominated industry it's nice to see the indepedent guy succeeding. Pros: Lots of parking, Well trained servers, Great experience more

Monti's Rocks ! 9/23/2003

Anyone who knows the Valley of the Sun knows that Monti's La Casa Vieja reigns supreme in the crowded Steak House catagory. Pros: The Steaks, The Building, That wonderful Bread more

Monti's is a dog 9/23/2003

This is on par with sizler. For what you got it was cheap but not any better than the $7 in Las Vegas. The Slad was average. The steak was small and thin and the sides were dull. Now you have to understand I am from Chicago were the food is the best in the world. I would go to the Outback before I went to Monti's. The wait for a table was long and the food disapointing. The bread was OK. I've had better food on an airplane. Pros: Parking Cons: Food, Atmosphere, Service more

BEST IN AMERICA 6/13/2003

Anyone who says that this place is not the best food that they have ever had is CRAZY! I'm willing to drive from San Francisco, CA to get a Monti's Filet. By far the best steak in America! If you visit anywhere in AZ you must make this a stop on your trip. Great atmoshpere and great food, what more can you ask for? Pros: Service, Decor, FOOD!!! more

Monti's Original 1/13/2003

Very good and reasonable prices. Good value for the price. If you want a good reasonably priced steak Monti's La Casa Vieja - Tempe is the place to go. Pros: Inexpensive, near town and lake Cons: No Ambiece, or Fine Dining more

MOntis why did it close in Scottsdale ?? 1/13/2003

This place is lousy. It couldnt stay in business in Scottsdale. The place looked like a glorified diner and the waitresses did not know their business. It could not compete with Mastro's which is the best steak house in Phoenix. Clients were unwilling to accept poor quality even at a lower price. Remember inexpensive has NO corrolation to quality. This restaurant has no clue !!!!!! Pros: Close to my home Cons: BAD STEAK, Poor management more

Most fun I had in Phoenix ! 1/3/2003

I would Say that Monti's was the best atmosphere, best food, best service that I experienced in my recent stay in Phoenix. Perfect portions, tantalizing desserts and just an awesome staff. Pros: price, service, taste Cons: location, none other, none other more

The Best 12/19/2002

Superb! 12/12/2002

We've been eating at the ""old"" Monti's for the past 37 years. We've NEVER been disappointed with their filet mignon. Anytime I'm east of Central Avenue, I tell my husband, ""As long as we're in the vicinity~~~let's go to Monti's La Casa Vieja. We ALWAYS take our guests there. Best in the West !!! Pros: Inexpensive, Good parking, Best Filet Mignons more

Wonderful 12/4/2002

My boyfriend and I have been eating at Monti's for the last ten years and love it. It was highly recommended by my mom and dad. I had no idea that it was a favorite restaurant of my grandparents until a few years ago. I am glad they discovered this wonderful restaurant in Tempe. Also, the Filet Mignon, bread, and salad dressing are wonderul. The price is unbeatable. I live 25 miles from Monti's and we still make it our #1 steakhouse to dine at. The only thing that they could improve on is bringing back their outstanding onion straws as well as the darker atmosphere. It seems like the place has brightened up in the last couple years. Pros: Price, Food more

Original Authentic Angus Beef 11/30/2002

Where's the beef? at Montis of course... I have been in Arizona for more than 25 years and in this time I have not yet found a better place to dine for steak than Montis. Originally a stable in old town Tempe and now a historic pride, the very best mouth watering, tender Filet Mignon & Prime Rib. The appetizing rosemary spiced bread served before dinner is nothing less than incredible. Strongly recommend for business, romance or family dining. Service is wonderful. Montis is a classic rustic cowboy dining in a modern world with that Spanish southwestern flare to bring you back to the 1800s. In recent years Montis has opened a sister location in Mesa on Alma School Road across from Sears. But I recommend the original in Tempe by the Salt River. Tempe is a smoke free zone and adds a more positive pleasure to the dining experience. Pros: Local hot spot, Value, Location Cons: Access and Parking more

Not worth it 10/7/2002

Some friends kept touting that Monti's was the best, and I know they've been around forever, so we decided to try it. Well, let's say we won't be back. The prices are good, but you get what you pay for. I like my steak well done, but not charcoaled. It also had no flavor, unless you count the burnt taste. The chairs were horrible too, and that made the experience ever harder to trudge through. The bread was good though... Cons: burnt, flavorless more

You Must Go Here 7/24/2002

Best Filet Mignoin I've ever had. Great decor and history. Also delicious bread served. Pros: specials, outdoor dining availa, good location more
