Alexa Z is a curly girl dream. She is recommended by curlygirl and is Deva Cut certified. If you have curly hair and have had a hard time finding a stylist- look no more, Alexa is amazing! AND she has curly hair, so she understands being lopsided, having uneaven curls, frizz- she's great. I love the Low Poo Shampoo she suggests too. And a mimosa is a nice touch when waiting- thanks girls! more

I love this salon. They do it all, hair, nails, facials and massage. I'm glad they don't use a stuffy "Spa" title, becuase this place is anything but stuffy! more

HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL! I am hard to impress, but I have to say I had a wonderful experience at this salon all the way! KARI IS HIGHLY professional and experienced! She will be completly honest with you because she is very wise and ethical! She is extremely knowledgable of product, of hair, and color correction, basically everything. She saved my hair, I have hypo-thyroid, so I am very sensitive to my hair and how it looks, she blew me away with her care and skill! I am extremely happy and will be going back to maintain my color and overall hair health! ALSO, I'd like to add the front staff is very professional and nice! more

I've now been seeing Kari Kurten for a few years. She continues to give me honest feedback every time, when I want to try something new. Kari is aCertified Schwartzkopf Colorist. She does an amazing job with color and I've never walked out of there unhappy. I decided to go from a violet toned color this spring, to a medium brown. She was clear with me that it would take several colorings to get all the red out and to get to the tone I wanted. We pulled red and lightened until reaching the perfect color. I always appreciate her honesty, as well as her skill. I've also brought in pictures of cuts on multiple occasions, and she has never disappointed me. On one occasion, when I took off a lot of length, she was conservative, and told me to come back in a few days if I wanted more taken off - at no charge. I did just that. I've never had so much faith in a hair stylist before and will always whole heatedly recommend her. The rest of the staff is very nice - but I can't comment on their abilities, as I only see Kari. :) more

I walked into Modern Concepts salon just looking for a decent trim. In this otherwise sleepy little shopping plaza, on Ashburn Road, I was surprised to find an Energetic, Hip, yet Elegant atmosphere with hairdressers that had just moved from a popular and highly rated, Washington area salon. My experience started with a great consultation and I recieved a great fresh new look. One stylist from London, Martin, only does color. I went back the following week for a multi tone highlight. I have never had such exquisite color. Not even during my 7 years in Manhattan. Make your appointments in advance though, this salon is going to be hopping. more

I called Modern Concepts today to just get a trim. After an extremely thorough consultation with my designated hairstylist, Debbie Blood, I found myself getiing Highlights as well. I had previously colored my own hair at home and it was admittedly quite orangy. I have never had so much attention paid to me at a salon before. When Debbie was done my hair was a beautiful copper with golden highlights. The cut was equally as great. My hair felt and looked healthier than it had in years. I loved feeling that Debbie cared about the details and was taking the time to listen. She also was extremely upfront about the charges and happily offered me a new client discount. I have already booked my next appointment! more
