Have to disagree ! 5/23/2007

I have been a patient of Dr. Mills for almost 2 years now. My husband is also a patient. We have found her to be an excellent physician. She has handled our cases with compassion and expertise. Her staff is helpful and friendly. We have never gotten anything other than one on one treatment. Our physical problems have been diagnosed and treated by her with no mention of referral to someone else. We love having her as a physician. more

Not impressed... 6/20/2006

I have to agree with Laura R. about this practice doing too many referrals. I chose them after having some fairly severe problems. Dr. Mills was friendly, highly competent and very thorough in her exam and initial treatment. However, when my case proved to be a bit complicated I was referred to two other specialists. I do not have insurance and because of my condition was not working. I simply could not afford the exorbitant fees charged by specialists, so I'm back to where I was before - no real diagnosis and no treatment of my illness. In addition, because my condition has been so severe for the past year and I've lost my health insurance and job, I had applied for SSI and Disability. When I receieved the paperwork from the SS Administration it appeared that Dr. Mills did not help me in any way and although she couldn't come up with a diagnosis told SSA that I wasn't "disabled". That really disgusted me since she was the one who suggested I see all sorts of specialists knowing that I couldn't afford them without Social Security or some other assistance. Their policy seems to be to refer out every illness more complicated than a head cold to some sort of expensive specialist. That just doesn't work for me. There is a great possibility that I have a very serious form of vasculitis called Churg-Strauss Syndrome that can be life threatening. I am scheduled for biopsies at another hospital and doctor next week. I'd hate to think that Dr. Mills missed such a serious illness or that she purposely wrote off my illness because I was uninsured - especially in light of torpedoing my Social Security Claim. more

This physician is very friendly and does a thorough examination. My difficulty with this office is that they do not treat very much. If you are depressed, they refer you to mental health. If you have back pain, they refer you to a pain clinic. If you have shoulder pain, they refer you to a orthopedic surgeon. If you have diabetes, they refer you to an endocrinologist. I chose to find another physician who could treat multiple conditions and not just refer you to 3 or 4 other doctors. more
