Not as good as Mexican Town 2/14/2012

Salsa was runny and they don't believe in seasoning their beef. The steak fajita was cut too thick and was tough. They need to hire a real bartender that knows how to make a real drink. They don't have a bar but they do carry alcohol. I ordered a watermelon margarita and it tasted bitter and no flavor. Sent it back....YUCK. I rather spend my money in Mexican town. more

THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD EVER! 8/14/2011

I have been going to mexican fiesta for about 15 years and i have yet to find a better mexican place! I go to the canton location and dearborn heights location- love them both! margaritas are the best and the food is outstanding, in my opinion you can't even compare it to other mexican restaurants in canton and the surrounding area. I think the prices are great, i order one chicken enchilada- get chips and salsa, the best coleslaw i have ever had, and beans with cheese and its under $5! that is a deal! i have gotten avacado there before and have never paid near $10 for it but i do get the small size which is plenty big. If you have not tried this place you HAVE TO GO! i would be very suprised if you are disapointed, i have never been. I always get hot food and good service. also, they have my favorite salsa! more

Outrageous Guacamole 12/12/2009

Used to love this restaurant until they had the gall to charge us $10 for a side of guacamole. This was more than the price of our meal. I will not eat here again and I will make sure that everyone knows how much they charged us. You can get an avocado at any grocery store for about $1. more

Fabulous Experience!!! 9/8/2009

Whoever said this food is not authentic, must not be mexican! If so, they would know that mexican food comes in many different ways (it's a big country...is there only one type of american food???). This place must be from the north, because it has all the comfort cowboy cooking I love! Not to mention, the amount of food per entree is amazing! Spend the extra money to get ""Hot Chips"", and save by ordering one entree to split. Pros: Tamales! Amazing Salsa, and the Shrimp Cocktail...yum yum more

The best food ever! 8/30/2008

I have been raised on this stuff! My family has been going to the Mexican Fiesta since only the Dearborn location existed. Once the Canton location opened, we've been here ever since! more

awful.. just plain awful...STAY AWAY! 7/11/2008

I am shocked that people loved this food. It is more of a Tex-Mex than anything else. The falvor is horrible and bland. Everything that was brough to our table was burned.. seriously.. It was the most horrible mexican food I had ever tasted. I would rather go to La Rositas on Mcgraw (far away!) then sepnd one thin dime on this horrible, horrible food... STAY AWAY Pros: not one single pro Cons: everything possible more

Good Sevice, bad food 6/27/2008

My roommate and I went to this restaurant to try something new. Since the parking lot was packed, we expected it was going to be a great place to eat. However, their food a bit off from authentic. The ""salsa"" on the table was not salsa at all, but a sauce, and did not have authentic Mexican flavors to it. Also, I have never been to a Mexican restaurant where they served muenster cheese on anything, let alone chicken and cheese enchiladas. We were sadly disappointed by the lack of flavor and spice on the food. The service was great, but the food was far from impressive. We far prefer LaFuente in Ypsilanti, MI for more authentic (and delicious) food. Pros: Great Sevice Cons: Lack of Flavor, CROWDED PARKING LOT!! more

Great food, must read this review for the truth 4/22/2006

I've been going to this resturant for at least 12 years. Let me tell you how to order your food if you don't want to pay for chips or if you don't want cole slaw. OK, Chips that are cold are free. If you want them warm, then there is a small charge. Some people don't like beans like myself, so they have an option. You have a choice of the 3. Or you can get double of whatever. So if you want rice and beans, just ask for rice and beans. If you want rice and cole slaw, ask for that. Or just double rice. Work it the way you would like it. My favorite order is the Chicken and Cheese Enchiladas. Wait staff is great. Complain if you would like about fries, but they are just being considerate by having that on the menu. Kids like fries. Pros: enchiladas, large portions Cons: no tv in dining area more

Long-time reputation for good food 11/16/2005

If you're used to Mexican Town or Xochi's, you might find Mexican Fiesta isn't as authentic. But, we like the old Detroit favorites and still enjoy Mexican Fiesta very much. For one thing, it's a very convenient location for us and the food is very good. Sure they have french fries, etc., on the menu, but if you've ever tried to take your family of five somewhere where the kids can get their french fries while the adults get something other than fries...well...you appreciate those choices a lot! We're fans of both locations--the one near Telegraph and the one in Canton. And, when you walk into Canton and there's a line...don't give up...they manage to get people in pretty quickly. more

Is that guy nuts? 2/12/2004

I've eaten at both locations since I was a kid and it's the best Mexican you're finding in Detroit if you ask me. There's more mexican on their menu than he gives credit for, believe me! The botana is out of this world (and the size of that planet it's from), and everything else is great, too. Ignore that guy. Pros: Excellent food more

How can you not like this place?? 11/12/2002

We've gone to this place a number of times, and we're always EXTREMELY pleased! This is one of our top two mexican restaurants... the other is New Mexico (a VERY authentic place... that has coleslaw and fries as side dishes, by the way). There are a TON of good MEXICAN choices on this menu. Try the super tostada, the botana, the special dinner, the deep fried flour tacos. Everything is delicious! Including the coleslaw! Pros: large selection, good sized portions, friendly service more

Faux Mexican 6/16/2002

Any Mexican restaurant that offers coleslaw and french fries with your order of burritos is NOT a Mexican restaurant. There were hamburgers, chicken entrees, and a million other 'all-american' fare to choose from, with the 'mexican' entrees only taking up 1/4 of the menu. Not what I expected with the misleading name... it should be called 'All-American Food (with a little bit of Mexican thrown in)'. Don't waste your time if you're looking for true mexican... head to Mexicantown instead. more
