Really old fashioned, classy place, The waiters wear tuxedo's, there is a Matre'd. The piano bar is always a good time, you never know who might be getting up to sing. Nino Fontana performs every Thursday-Saturday nights. Music from Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tom Jones, all the way to Kid Rock....Sunday afternoon jam is alot of fun with so much talent.. Always a great place to be. Pros: Great live piano bar 7 nights a week . Sunday afternoon jam Cons: Way too busy at the Sunday Jam!!!! Place is packed. Good pe more

Right!!! 1/20/2010

I don't think Mel would ever let his place go down the train, so if anybody gives him only one star...... well it can't be a star, only stars and there spoiled taste give a high rating. I personaly have eaten there so many times I can't count and service and food have always been to die for. more

Quality at Rock Bottom Now 1/19/2009

Melvyn's has degenerated into one of the worst spots in town. It's a tourist trap for people you don't know better. In years past, food and music were good. Now it's just a hideous karaoke bar with low-quality food, and employees with miserable attitudes. Pros: Landscaping Cons: Bad Music, Overpriced Food, Rude Employees more

The last hidden gem in Palm Springs, were else can you get cherries jubilee tableside? 12/4/2007

This is my favorite retsaruant in palm springs beacuse, Honestly, were else can you get cherries jubilee tableside! Once you step inside it is an instant satisfaction Before you eat take a look at the bar, it is the classiest one in town and the wall next to it is lined with pictures of Mel and the celeberties that dined there. You can start off your meal by having a ceaser salad tossed tableside or tableside shrimp de johnge. Then main course, i reccomend their veal specialty, Steak diane tableside or the lamb; it is the one of the best lambs in the city, and they dont skip on the portion size. Finally finish your evening with cherries jubilee, bananas foster, crepes suzette, ot starwberry flambe. I personally enjoy the cherries jubilee. I believe it is the last place in Palm Springs to get it. The waitstaff is superb and you will not be disapointed with them. Pros: Cherries jubilee more

Melvyn's is the Classiest! 6/22/2006

I've lived in the P.S. area for about 20 years and Melvyn's is one of my favorite places. My husband and I stayed at Melvyn't when we got married almost three years ago and had a wonderful experience. The service was excellent and the food is wonderful. We even had our post wedding brunch with family and their Sunday breakfast is fantastic. Now that we moved back to P.S. we make it a point to treat ourselves to this romantic restaurant every once in a while. Melvyn's is a great mix of people of all ages. If you want to experience a place where the locals hang out on a regular basis- this is it! There is nightly entertainment and on weekends the bar is really busy. You'll see the owner Mel hanging around taking care of his regulars. If you want to stay in a boutique hotel and experience ""classic Palm Springs"" this is the place for you! more

Leisurely lunching 11/22/2002

A relaxed and tasty lunch in early spring. The cool, classic interior was a perfect temperature, and held the promise of comfort even in Palm Springs' awful summers! The crowd was as fun as the menu--all ages, all attire, fascinating combos. The attentive service made me regret that I couldn't return for the fab wine dinner that was advertised for the following evening--all six courses and seven wines! I shall return! Pros: Lovely grounds, PS-classic interior Cons: Poor parking more

Elegance is alive in Palm Springs. 8/20/2002

Melvyn's is tucked away in the heart of Palm Springs, and is truly an example of Old World elegance and style. The food, service and attention are as they should be--unobtrusive, but always perfectly appointed. The Inn itself is richly decorated and an elegant place to spend some time meandering around before or after your meal. more
