Kingston native. WORST haircut I have ever gotten...left in tears. Maybe he had a bad day but why should I suffer for that, walking out with a disaster on my head. Not cheap either as compared to other highly rated salons in the neighborhood. Cut took about 10 minutes total with no working w/ me re texture, face shape etc. Plus, no shampoo and considering the high price...am I not entitled to at least something????? Buyer beware is all I can say. And I will absolutely NEVER be back. My hair was ruined. more

Mark is the best hairdresser I have met in 10 years, he was a star at NYC salons which charge easily 4 times what he does in Kingston, we are lucky he chooses to work in the area.\r \r He can do any type of cut, and your hair grows out great. His dry technique (started by John Sahag) is great, doesn't rely on a skillful blowout to look good. Can't reccomend Mark enough! Not only did I get the best haircut of my life but I met the one and only Levon Helm when I was there. My hair went from bland to amazing in 35 minutes---without a shampoo, or style---nothing. He just cut it and 3 days later my hair still rocks. Mark SAVED my hair. After being butchered at another local salon, several people suggested I see Mark promising he would fix it. I called crying about my hair emergency and he kindly agreed to fit me in, gently explaining he was very full that day but he'd get to me. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw LIV TYLER sitting there getting her hair cut! As if that weren't enough, while I was getting my hair cut, CHRIS STEIN from BLONDIE stopped by to make an appointment! Mark quickly and MAGICALLY tranformed my tear inducing mess of hair to the chicest, most beautiful haircut I've ever had or seen on anyone else. And I got Liv Tyler's autograph! THANK YOU MARK! How I miss Mark. I didn't know how good I had it. I mean, I always knew he was great, just didn't realize how rare his talent is. Since leaving the Hudson Valley I've lived in New Orleans and San Francisco and have never been able to find anyone who can even hold a candle. Tried Sassoon. Nope. Tried numerous small salons. Nope. My favorite thing about Mark's cuts is that you can give him as much or as little instruction as you like. Sometimes I brought in pictures. Usually I just asked him to do whatever and it was always great. Since being out of range, I visited Brooklyn once for a wedding and rented a car to drive upstate to get my hair cut by Mark b/c it was such a rare opportunity. I tried out a new hairstylist because she was inexpensive and I was in financial bind. I have long hair and all I wanted was a few layers. It took about her about 20 minutes to finish and when I left I couldn’t help but stare at my reflection everywhere. I hardly know anything when it comes to hair, but I could tell my right side was not at all even to my left. All in all, I felt uncomfortable and knew my haircut needed an alteration. I remembered Mark Ferraro from a previous haircut. In a fit of emergency, I quickly drove to uptown Kingston where Marks business resides. Mark scheduled me for an appointment that same day and I was so pleased with the outcome and more importantly I was impressed with his artistic skills and detail to excellence. I love going to Mark's for a haircut.I go quite alot since I need my hair cut frequently.As a guy in a punk band,I need a certain image and Mark totally gets it.I definitely get a good rock star cut everytime,unless I ask for something more conservative.He can roll out those classic cuts just as well.The man is a true artist.""Going to Mark""is kind of like being in the cool kids' club.Not only do you get a great haircut,you get to say you go to Mark.And he's definitely known for being the best around. Mark has been cutting my hair for 30+ years. After trying many different hairdressers, a friend recommended him and I've been going to him ever since. I love his cuts and when your hair is growing in it looks spectacular! I don't know what I would do if Mark ever left this area. I still get asked ""where do you get your hair cut"" after all these years. People always comment on what a great cut/style I have. He truly is a man ahead of his time. What a great guy! My friends recommended him to me, so I gave him a try. He did a fabulous job on my hair, and the price was worth it. I have gotten many compliments on my new style and I think that from now on he will be the only hairstylist I visit. He was very nice to me and treated me quite well. Mark is amazing. I'm surprised he fit me in. I was treated like royalty and felt like a queen when I left. I'm still getting compliments on my hair three months later! Mark Ferraro is incredibly gifted in his field. His clients are loyal to him in Kingston as well as in the Village with good reason.
