Great bridal experience 8/18/2010

I am one of those brides that went in Maria’s Bridal store twice. First experience was several years ago with my sister and than in 2009 it was my turn to get married. \r During my visit Nadica, sales assistant did everything to calm my anxiety and help me with the selection. Little by little, dress by dress until ahaaaa moment. I cried a tear, my mother’s eyes got wet…. We felt it. It was a dress! \r Fitting helped me re-live that experience. Each time I enjoyed courteous service, friendly atmosphere and well placed advice. \r \r I felt bad when I heard that Rochester store close the door. However, I also heard that Nadica opened her own bridal store in W. Bloomfield under the same name.\r more

Bride's/Mothers BEWARE 8/20/2009

After calling 4x to find out when my dress would be in, rudely treated by owner ""Mara"" on the phone, refusing to call mfg. ""don't have time for this!!!"". When dress finally came in after 4 months (1 month prior to need, to get shoes, jewely, alterations) when in to pick up Mara again came out, No one here to help me was her statement. Told them I would be in that afternoon, after a rude conversation she finally agreed to pull my dress to try on. When came out after trying on Julie was in and processed payment. I demanded to see when my dress had been ordered as it took 4 MONTHS, I placed order and put deposit on 4/22/09; when she pulled the paperwork they ORDERED 5/26/09. Asked why it was not placed for over a month she had no explanation. Needless to say, I took my dress and will pay for alterations elsewhere. Never, never will I return and will let others know of my experience. For a business that has been running for 35 yrs, I think it is time to close your doors. Cons: Horrible customer service more

I made a huge mistake going here 8/8/2009

I had made an appointment and when I got there no one other customers were there. The sales person pulled some dresses for me and then left me and my bridesmaid to try them on ourselves as she helped someone who walked in. What is the point of an appointment if they won't help you. They also give you the run around and won't return your calls. I should have never of got my dress there. I would have had better service at a Davids bridal! Pros: none!!!! Cons: poor customer service more

Had 2 Great Experiences 8/4/2009

The first wedding dress place I went to was in Roseville (closed now) and they made me feel horrible. I sheepishly walked into Maria's one evening (without an appt.) and the lady there was SO sweet. I told her that I was just looking and she started pulling dresses right away and offered to help in any way. My husband happened to be along since the trip was not planned and I was from out of town and the other store yelled at me for having him with, while the sales person at Maria's said, ""oh, you'll look so different on the day!"" I am not a size 0, 2 or 4 and she did not make me feel bad like another reviewer mentioned. She worked within my budget and they have a nice selection of dresses under $2000. I decided on a beautiful dress and it had a very delicate hidden zipper which I hadn't realized. When it came in, I tried it on at the store with the help of an associate and the zipper broke! However, they said they would fix it right away. The seamstress did a wonderful job with such a major repair. Just went back last weekend with my sister in law that is engaged and we had another great experience. We made an appointment and together with an associate pulled so many lovely dresses and my sister in law found a gorgeous dress that fits her personality perfectly. One of the managers recognized me from 5 years ago and said it was nice to see me! I have noticed that they are honest with their opinions, but I prefer this and I never felt ignored or belittled. I love Maria's and recommend making an appointment, just so you have a sales associate that is scheduled to help you personally. Pros: great selection, honest opinions, conveniently located more

Not horrible 1/22/2009

I was very apprehensive about shopping for a wedding dress after reading some of the reviews, but I made an appointment anyway and it was not at all the horrible experience I had read about. The sales associate was polite, she made plenty of suggestions and stayed within my price range. Pros: knowledgable about product more

Worst Bridal Shop EVER!!! 11/4/2008

Where do i begin? For my first appt, they measeured me wrong and ordered the size they wanted to order me instead of the size I asked for. They called the bride to tell her that the bridesmaid dresses were in when they werent. With that information, I made an appt for a fitting and when I got there, they said the dresses werent in! Then why would they ask my name, the brides name, and all the other info they need to make an appt when the dresses were not in?!? I drove 30minutes and wasted gas to get there and they did not once apologize. So I had to go back when they arrived for the first fitting. So for my next appt that was scheduled at 4pm, I came in on time and they told me that they thought my appt was at 5pm instead, so the dress that I was supposed to pick up was not even close to being finished. By the way, it was too tight like I told them it would be. They said that I must have gained weight and proceeded to measure me again to prove I did. (I was a bridesmaid the week before for another wedding and the other bridal shop measured me correctly the day before I was measured at maria's and they ordered the right size and I fit into it perfectly so I know I didnt gain weight.) The seamstress told me that they are never wrong and she incinuated that I was lying!! She never said I'm sorry!! They are soo rude and have the slowest service ever! They told me that they order the dress they want to order so its easiest for them and could care less about their customers. Oh yeah and the alterations they did on all the bridesmaids dresses were horrible. Everything fell apart before the wedding reception! Never will I go back there! Cons: they ignore you and what you want, parking, rude, bad alterations more

Rude, Rude, Rude!!!! 9/30/2008

I went to Maria's the other day. I had called ahead to make an appointment. When I got to the salon they told me that they didn't have me as an appointment. The store was really quiet and I was the only one there so they took me in. But when I left they did say ""next time make sure you really call"". \r \r I really liked a dress that I found but it was more than the budget I had given them. They kept trying to show me dresses that were out of my price range instead of showing me dresses I could afford. I was heartbroken when I left and just frustrated that they looked down on me because I only wanted to pay $2000 or under for my dress. \r \r It was just a bad experience and I wouldn't recommend them. Pros: Decent selection Cons: Rude, didn't listen to what I wanted, I felt an inch tall more

Great service for my new wife 7/8/2008

My wife and I were just married two weeks ago on Saturday. I just have to tell all your future brides to go and visit Marias Bridal in Rochester, MI. My bride has a spinal issue where it leaves her very insecure of her looks. Though she looks like an angel to me. From the first day walking into Marias Bridal, without an appointment, she was treated with the utmost respect. The seamstress spent hours to build the gown up for her to make her spine look normal. They didnt even charge her for this. The employees just wanted my wife to look her best. On our wedding my wife looked and felt more beautiful than she ever has. Thank you everyone at Marias Bridal for everything. All you soon to be brides hopefully you're as lucky as my wife to have such great people on your side for your special day. Pros: Great service. Wonderful people. Cons: Not open on Sunday. My wife worked all week and it was hard to make it in. more

Best Bridal Salon Ever! 7/8/2008

I am writing this as a wedding consultant for some of my brides. I have been working in the bridal business for over a decade and Marias Bridal is a store that has always top-ed my list on the bridal network. Not only do they have wonderful customer service but they take time out to learn about each of their brides. They have treated each of my brides like they were family. Yes sometimes their somewhat blunt and honest attitude can turn people off, but I know that when I got married, I wish I had someone as honest and truthful selling me my wedding gown. They arent out to make a buck, they are truly passionate about the bride and want her to look her best! So do not judge a book by its cover. And with that I mean, everyone has their own opinion, do not listen to what other people to say. Make your own. Pros: Wonderful service, great selection, wonderful store! Cons: Wish they had later hours. more

AWFUL! STAY AWAY! 4/6/2008

Where do I start....\r 1. I had an appointment and 10am and at 10:10 an associate floats by and says ""It'll be a minute"". \r 2. When I walk in she gives me any annoyed look for being the first client waiting outside the door for opening, asking, ""What can I help you with, why are you here"" as she stands next to an APPOINTMENT ONLY sign... ((I would be guessing I had an APPOINTMENT!)\r 3. After the sales lady asks which types of dresses I am interested in, she rudely keeps interrupting me telling me how I am using the wrong terms of mermaid vs. trumpet skirt...((I am sorry, this is the first time I am getting married and not overall familiar with the terms))\r 4. After hearing I wanted to stay in the lower box of prices they had available she huffs and puffs and opens a door to an overwhelming room stuffed of dresses and never checks back. \r 5. After I decided to not even attempt to try on bridal gowns, my bridesmaids and I glance through their bridesmaids dresses for ideas. Again, the saleslady NEVER checks on us as my two girls and I are holding arm fulls of dresses looking for the fitting room.\r 6. When we are done and picked out the top choices that we will look for at OTHER HELPFUL boutiques, we leave and say goodbye and don't hear her respond (She is at the counter talking to a friend) until the last one of us is out of the door.\r \r I was incredibly surprised by the lack of customer service. I highly suggest all future brides to STAY AWAY from this hell hole. I have worked in retail for years and cannot entirely describe the disgust I had with this boutique. I would rather travel four hours and pay triple the price of a gown before I step foot in such a horrific place again. Pros: they were the closest in location for me. and... that is about it. Cons: everything... the atmosphere, lack of service, piles of gowns that were unbearable to search through.... more

Terrible!!!!! 12/30/2007

The lady who operates this store gave me the impression she thinks she knows everything about every girl that walks through the doors. I had about 5 dresses to try on, she wouldn?t let me put any of my choices on first, she said they were not for me, and she had others that she liked instead. I hated everyone she chose for me, she was rude when I and my mom said we didn?t like them and could see I was getting frustrated. \r When I finally got to put some of the ones I chose on, she left me alone in the fitting room to leave my Mom to help me out of the dress she had pinned and never came back to even say goodbye to us. When one of my friends went to point out a dress for me to the lady helping us, proceeded to say ?that dress is too mature for her, she wouldn?t like it? (I am 25...I never did get to try the dress on). \r \r I would never recommend this place to anyone. She made looking for dresses absolutely terrible and not a fun experience. She never once smiled at even the small humor, was incredibly rude, not inviting in the least, and honestly made me feel like I was going to get screamed at if I did anything wrong. Customer service is far from their strong quality and their selection is definitely something you can find else where. more

Always a pleasant experience 11/6/2007

I purchased my bridal gown and 10 bridesmaids dresses at Maria's. They were always super friendly and helpful. I have also stood up in at least 5 other weddings who got their dresses there. Never had a problem with alterations or service. I would definitely recommend them to anyone and I have! They have so much to choose from, every time I go in the store it makes me want to get married all over again. After reading the above reviews I just had to write something because I am sure those people are in the minority. Unfortunately it appears that the only ones who say something are those that have something bad to say. Pros: beautiful selection, tons to choose from, friendly knowledgable service Cons: not open on Sundays (is anyone?) more

great for prom dresses 3/21/2007

they had a wide variety of dresses that you could order in any color. they did all my alterations for free & had my dress ready for me in a couple of days. i have gotten all of my homecoming & prom dresses here. Pros: you can get any dress in any color Cons: there arent alot to choose from more

Poor Customer Service 1/28/2007

I have heard about so many bad experiences at Maria's Bridal that when it came time to order a wedding dress for my daughter, we didn't even consider them. We live in Rochester and it would have more convenient, but opted to go to a shop in Shelby Twp. Customer service is everything and the word on the street is that they are abrupt and rude. more

Worst Bridal Shop Ever 8/28/2006

This place is nice when you are trying on dresses. After the dress comes in they turn on you! First of all the girl doing my measurements smashed in my bust and the dress was ordered too small. They were rude to me during my fittings and did not try to help me at all. They said they could fix one part of my dress and when they could not, nobody bothered to call me. I showed up for my last fitting and they said ""oh sorry, we could not fit that piece"" so now here I am 2 weeks before my wedding with a dress that was ordered wrong - too small. Then rather than admitting their mistake the workers tried to justify their error with excuses. Poor place to go. They do not make a bride feel special, in fact every time I left there I was depressed. more
