Expensive! 4/6/2010

We go here occassionally for business lunches. Which is ok as I am not paying. However, I would not go there if I was the one paying. Cost almost $20.00 for a pretty pathetic salad ($11.50, think it had about 3 crumbles of Blue Cheese and about 5 small pieces of tomato) a cup of soup (3.95, it was ok) and a soda! That's too much for lunch, especially as I am still hungry! The service was ok although rather slow and there weren't very many people there. The sandwiches looked good and the pasta looked good, although the portions for the pasta are also pretty pathetic. Pasta isn't that expensive after all! Maybe the dinner portions are bigger, but I won't be trying this place for dinner, for the price there are better places around. Pros: Nice ambiance Cons: Small portions, expensive more

That's Amore! 4/21/2008

This is truly a great Italian food find in a rather off-beaten area between Puyallup and Sumner on a main street. The decor is warm woods and colorful paintings with just the right amount of ambient lighting. A full-service bar/lounge is between the two dining rooms upstairs with a larger party room downstairs. \r Our waitress was attentive and friendly, taking our drink orders and bringing the complimentary bread with oive oil/balsamic vinegar dipping sauce almost immediately. The menu is impressive with many choices of appetizers, soups, salads, meats and pastas, plus offers a daily fresh sheet which yesterday included halibut and crab. One of the specialities caters to families with choices of 'familiglia' style dining - large platters of your choices of pasta and sauces, soup or salad, bread, desserts. There is plenty of room for large family functions or more private seating for intimate dining. \r My favorite dish was the Adriatica chicken - perfectly cooked and not over-sauced. Portions are on the large side and each entree is served with a starch and seasonal vegetable. My husband had the ""Simply Grilled' halibut and it came with garlic mashed potatoes and a fresh side of green beans/carrots/peppers.\r Desserts are fabulous, even though very traditional - tiramisu, creme brulee, chocolate layer cake.....can't go wrong with any of them.\r Lots of free parking in the back area by the apartments. Highly recommended! more

A safe bet for a pleasant dinner 7/11/2007

We tried Mama Stortini's the other day and were very pleased with the experience. Our waiter gave excellent service - just the right blend of attentive and prompt without any annoying hanging about or worse - leaving us hanging. The menu had a fairly wide range with a fresh sheet. We ate the fresh mozzarella/heirloom tomato salad appetizer, caesar salads (which we could easily have skipped - but they were good), clam linguine with white wine/garlic/butter sauce and oven-roasted prawns over rosemary garlic mashed potatoes. The portions were very generous (as I said, we wished we'd skipped the salads!) and delicious. My clam linguine had fresh steamers as well as very generous amounts of clam meat. I'd like to try their desserts but that will wait for another visit - and there will be another, guaranteed! We agreed it would be a good place to take visitors, as the menu has a little something for everyone. Right now they have a special - Kids under 10 can eat from the Kid's Menu for free through August.\r \r Ambiance - warm, Mediterranean influenced decor with jazz/blues traditionals (Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, etc.) background music at just the right level - ambiance, but not loud and conversation-stilting. Pros: Service, quality food Cons: Might want reservations on weekends to be seated promptly. more

salad w/meal - most food in good sized portions 9/3/2006

I like a free salad and bread w/my meal which they offer. The sauce is pretty good. I ask for the creamy red sauce. My only problem is they stopped selling gnocchi! Since they are about the only restaurant who served them, I don't know why they did that. The day I went there and found out, the table next to me also wanted to order gnocchi.\r \r They added fried zucchini to their appetizer list and I love them! Pros: Salad w/meal - good portions Cons: took gnocchi off their menu more

Overpriced Italian 4/27/2003

Though I think this simple restaurant is overpriced (+$4 for a small breadbasket, $16 for a small serving of ravioli), I also believe some of the food is outstanding (black and white lobster ravioli with cream sauce). Some portions are so small that I half-heartedly wondered if they served us someone's half-portion (ravioli). The strawberry tiramisu, on the other hand, was worth every dime for the delicious taste (yum!) and the huge serving. I'd return more often if most serving sizes were more in tune with their prices. I must admit, though, that children 5 and under dine free. The service was friendly. Overall a nice family restaurant in the heart of UP. Pros: lobster ravioli, tiramisu, location Cons: small portions, some expensive entree more
