i was admitted to Acton rehab. Aug. 1 2008, for drug addition, I wasnt sure how this was gonna work out, but I knew why I was there, for me it was'nt social hour, so i had no trouble with the S.I.P. rule, the main problem was my learning to following direction, so the staff did exactly what they were paid to do; give some direction to those who need it. My hats off to them cause i was a hand full and they had the patients to deal with me. I completed the 90 day program and I'm still clean over 3 years later, Thank You Acton Rehab. more

Acton Rehab 4/15/2008

I was in Acton Rehab for appx. 85 out of the 90 days I was supposed to be there. I was an AA secretary and the AA greeter (for the nightly mandatory meeting). I was also the 'napkin lady' who handed out napkins to everyone when they came to get their food trays 3 times a day. I worked in the kitchen, where the staff is excellent. But this facility is very unstructured. They only have one required AA, NA or CA meeting, each night from 8:00 to 9: 30, with an outside panel (I prefer participation meetings so you can get to know people). They also have a required Womens' and Mens' Stag meeting at 12:45 Mon. thru Fri. They do have other meetings during the day that are not required. They have a strict S.I.P. rule - Social Interaction Policy. Meaning you can't socially interact between men and women. There are appx. 250 guys and 70 women, so this is very difficult. That's why I had the ""jobs"" I had. Got to know about 85% of the people there, a few of whom I am still in touch with. It is in a very beautiful setting, very large grounds. But there are 3 or 4 counselors there that are always looking to bust people for 'S.I.P.' That is not condusive or good for our recovery. I feel like they let me down, after I tryed to be of service. \r \r Try CriHelp in North Hollywood instead. They have an excellent staff. Just beware of the 'techs' (babysitters). They have 'non-com' which is the same as S.I.P. No County beds, but you can talk to each other in meetings and groups, which is very often. Marco Pardo, the Spiritual Counselor/Grief Counselor is great. Good luch and blessings if you are seeking recovery!\r \r Virg Pros: Some staff (kitchen, Admissions) is great, but some counselors not good for recovery. Cons: Beautiful setting, large facility. Jobs (for free) available, which keep you busy. Cool people. more
