Editorial review from Citysearch 1/29/2013

After I graduated from Loraine's Academy, I spent my first four years working for a national chain of massage studios and doing private work on the side. Now I am opening my own clinic which will employ 10-12 therapists. I loved to see the enthusiasm of the staff at Loraine's when I wanted to learn. If they feel you are serious, they will do anything to help you. I have had a very positive experience, and I still go back to get advice on my career path. more

I toured Loraine's after their expansion and was impressed by the professionalism and care the staff has. Loraine's is clean and modern. I will not hesitate to send my daughter there when the time comes and I am confident that she will receive a great education in a trade that will help her for life. more

I highly recommend the Therapeutic Massage 1/11/2013

I highly recommend the Therapeutic Massage I can not remember the last time my back knots and shoulders felt to good. $25 for nearly an hour with the coupon from the website it's a great deal. The Spa is very nice and looks new. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 1/9/2013

Our family has been getting massages and haircuts at Loraine's for about a year and we have been consistently satisfied. The full body therapeutic massage in particular does wonders on my back knots and with the $25 coupon for almost an hour I would highly recommend this service. more

Is this a school or a salon?? 8/16/2012

Wow what a place.... I was very reluctant to try a beauty school for a haircut. I mean, a student cut my hair??? When I walked in I was greeted with a smile and the wait time wasn't long at all. I was told for faster service to call ahead for an appointment. The girl cutting my hair did a good job.. Her personality gave me comfort in her schooling skills, so I felt at ease. The Instructor came over to review her work. Job well done. She gets a A from me... It's nice to know there is a place to get a quality haircut at a very affordable price. Plus, The woman don't have just looks, but personalities too! I'll be back for sure.. \r \r Thanks Amanda!!!! You Rock girl! more

Worst haircut ever 5/17/2012

I went in to get a trim. The girl who I was assigned to had no clue how to cut hair. She would randomly pick up pieces of my hair and cut. The instructor (who was supposed to be supervising) was all over the place. He complained that he had been working 30 days straight without time off. He definitely looked like it! He did not seem to be listening to the girl cutting my hair or to what I was trying to tell him that I wanted done. He would just stare into the mirror at my hair and move it around with his hands.\r \r The girl sprayed tons of hairspray on my hair, so I really didn't get to see what she had really done to it. After washing it, though, I cried! My hair along the sides and back had been hacked up. I went somewhere else to try to have it repaired, but it was next to impossible. I have learned my lesson & will NEVER go to a beauty school for a haircut. I have been going to AIB for years for facials, and I have never been disappointed. I plan on sticking with them. more

I WON'T give up my beauty services for this recession! 2/20/2011

I can't afford to let my roots grow out, or have my skin look old and blotchy. If I can look my best, EVERYTHING seems better. Well, here's one of my secrets. I've gotten some surprisingly professional foil highlights, color retouches, massages, french pedicures and microdermabrasion treatments at Loraine's Academy, for a fraction of the price charged by salons. The students seem to care and have good training; there are plenty of instructors to oversee the work and make sure it's done right. Up till now there HAS been one small disadvantage to this place: like many other schools (AND salons) has been that you have to walk through the hair department to get to the massage and skin rooms...BUT NOW they're building a spa training center next door just for the facial and massage departments. Can't wait! more

Beauty Changes Lives 2/20/2011

For myself as a graduating student, Loraine's Academy has taught me so much about how I change the lives of other individuals thru beauty. The patient and compassionate staff of this school are always there to encourage their students to challenge themselves to be better stylists, nail techs, estheticians or massage therapists, and better overall people. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone who would like to see their lives transformed through beauty. more

It doesn't get any better than this! 2/20/2011

I honestly don't know where I'd be today if I hadn't found Loraines Academy. I've only been licensed a year or so now, but I'm doing great. I'm working as a barber, and the money is good. I'm so stoked on life! My skill level is competitive, I know how to market and get clients. I'm making great contacts, I love the work I'm doing. I can't believe they pay me to do this. The staff at Loraine's stood by me thru the good and bad, my ups and downs, and got me through. They never judged me; they just supported me. You won't go wrong going here either as a student or a client. They'll be there for you too. It just doesn't get any better than this. more

It's not a Chain School 1/4/2011

I looked at lots of schools before choosing Loraines, and have never regretted my decision. I learned every day from instructors, students, and even the amazing clients I met at this school. The teachers care about each student and helping us become competent professionals; the owners are actually on campus and will stop and help any student who has a question or concern. I'm a graduate now, feeling very accomplished. I'll just miss my "family" at Loraines. more

Good Job, Loraine's Academy! 9/15/2010

I've just graduated from Loraine's Academy and found that they were right...lots of jobs out there! I didn't have any problems with getting licensed, and feel confident in my skills. Staff there was big on giving us all the basics but also the latest and greatest in new techniques. I also had experience with so many clients I feel like I have a year or two under my belt as a hairdresser. cool! more

Hairdresser 9/15/2010

I'm a cosmetology graduate of Loraine's Academy. I would like to thank JoAnn in Admissions and Luba in Financial Aid for helping me get into a program I would love. And to the owners Nancy and Kathryn, for being at the school every day (no remote corporate office!) to help guide me through the steps to my new career. And for being there for me afterwards as well. There's only one Loraine's..and we all love it. more

Medical Esthetician 9/15/2010

I am a former student of Loraine's Academy, as I took advanced esthetics classes there. I feel my success in the medical esthetic business can be attributed to my experiences at that school!! I would highly recommend all phases of Loraine's Academy! more

My new career in Cosmetology 9/14/2010

I am thinking of joining Loraines Academy. I have visited the school and everyone was so helpful and kind. The students were so busy doing customers hair. I can't wait to get started. more

Successful endings 9/13/2010

Im a long time graduate of Loraine's Academy and have had an amazing career. Loraine's instructors and faculty are still as supportive of my career goals as they were when I attended the academy in 1991. If you're looking to get the best information, knowledge, and experience in the beauty world Loraine's is the place for you! more

Rude and unprofessional 7/27/2010

I had been considering attending the esthetics program this year. I was a bit deterred by the unappealing photographs on the web site, but decided to give them a call in case looks were deceiving. The admissions director, JoAnn Haras, was extremely rude and unhelpful. She seemed irritated that a potential student would bother her with questions (isn't that her job?) and practically hung up on me. I have absolutely ruled them as a result of a 5 minute conversation that I found shockingly unprofessional and rude! more

The place to go, when you want to look your best! 3/14/2008

I have been to Loraines Academy many times over the years and have yet left dissappointed. You name it, perms, coloring, tinting, hair cuts, braids, waxing, they do it all. The students are eager to please, up on the latest syles, and are supervised by their instructors. Their prices can't be beat! Plenty of parking out front. Walkins welcome. Check them out! more
