Superb!!!! 9/15/2010

This is the best Bar-B-Que,Cajun,Soul Food,Louisiana Style Food Restaurant in the San Fernando Valley. This place is so good, I haven't even tried a lot of the items yet because I keep ordering the same thing I had previously. I can say without a doubt that the Baby Back Ribs are wonderful. The only place I ever had Sweet Potato Pie this good was when my Mom made it back in South Carolina. The Buttermilk Pie is to die for. The Cajun Hamburger is too good. I can go on and on. I'm getting hungry just thinking about all the goodies this place has to offer. And the owner (Kevin), is a good guy. If you are looking for great food at reasonable prices, this is the place. I don't know what those Naysayers are talking about, but I guess you can't please everybody. The real people know what's up. more

I ordered the File Gumbo, and it was nothing like any Gumbo I had ever tasted! Cons: parking, value, horrible food more

Has the potential to be really good, but falls short 8/18/2008

After reading the positive (and negative) reviews, we drove over to Les Sisters for some take-out last night. We ordered 2 orders of the regular fried chicken and also 1 order of the ""spicy"" fried chicken. The chicken was very juicy and I loved the crispy coating with the exception of one thing. It had ZERO flavor or seasoning! It was so bland! The spicy chicken was not only NOT spicy but it too had no flavor whatsoever. My son had a side order of mac-n-cheese, which again, was watery and had zero flavor to it. We were supposed to have bbq beans with our 2 chicken dinners but when we got home (about a 15 minute drive) we found that neither of the regular chicken dinners had the bbq beans inside. In its place was an orange wedge garnish! The corn muffin was extremely dry and you guessed it, no flavor either. We ordered 2 peach cobblers and 2 buttermilk pies for dessert. The peach cobbler was terrible (and no crunch on top like I'm used to) but the buttermilk pie was delicoius, yet TINY. I had heard the portions were huge at this place, yet my husband, son and I were so hungry when we were done eating all of the food. $40.00 not well spent. :-( Pros: Buttermilk Pie Cons: Bland food, tiny portions, ambience and a messed up order to boot more

Best Southern/Cajun Food 8/17/2007

This is one of our favorite restaurants to go to. The food is incredible, authentic and consistent. We love the fact that it's a ""hole in the wall"", tiny and family owned and operated. We are always greeted with a welcoming smile, and made to feel like they're glad we're there. We've always had good service. Pros: Great food. Affordable. Cons: Could be cleaner. more

Customer Service much to be desired and food was 2/26/2007

First off, I told my husband we have got to try out this Soul Food rest in our neck of the woods. We just moved from S.O. to Northridge. I was so excited after discovering this place on the web and on City Search. I read all the reviews and felt like I was going to get the best Fried Chicken in the Universe and all of L.A. as some had previously wrote. NOT!! Needless to say, I was very disappointed. I don't know who write these reviews although there was a couple of bad ones. This place is awful. The service was bad, slow and not friendly at all. I ordered your typical traditional soul food meal, which was the Fried Chicken, collard greens, mac n'cheese, candied yams. The Chicken was very ""Bland"", the greens had too much Chili Powder in it, not good flavor at all and the mac n' cheese was absolutely disgusting. Very watery, stove top like and not an ounce of cheese flavor anywhere. The yams were okay and at best the preferred dish among everything else. Our waitress was somewhat rude, forgot our cornbread muffins and intervened with a ""Why Not"", when I told my young child that a hamburger she would not have. We're at a Soul Food Rest, order soul food, the waitress act as though she was offended. I look at my husband and then at her as if to ask are you seriously questioning what I say to my kid? Totally out of line. Oh, my husband ordered the Jambalaya soup which he did enjoy. The lemonade was okay as was the Buttermilk pie we ordered to go. The rest is much too be desired. I say, don't bother! This restaurant is far from the best, not even close! We will not go there again. Oh, one more thing, They have a B in the window, which my husband was ready to walk out on that alone, I convince him to stay b/cause I really had ""High Hope"" for ths establishment. I ignored the B, I ignore the rude service, I even ignored the dirty floors, a big ignore, wondered why they got a B, Clean the place up a bit!! In a nut shell, don't waste your time or money. more

best fried chicken in the universe 11/25/2006

I had nothing but a great experience going to les sisters. Its a small hole in the wall but with excellent food. I've had the ribs and the cajon fried chicken. Both were delicious and i would recommend using some of their orleans red sauce on the side to emphasize the flavor. If you live in the valley kick yourself for not going to les sister southern kitchen sooner. haha Pros: great great food at cheap prices (especially lunch) Cons: a little small for dining but ok more

Awesome Food and Great Service! 11/12/2006

The food at Les Sisters is absolutely awesome!! On top of that, the service is super friendly and true to its roots of southern hospitality. There is a definite homey feel to this restaurant and the portions are HUGE. I just went there with a friend last night...and we were both just wonderfully surprised by this restaurant. We both agree hands down that they have killer fried chicken, jambalaya, and buttermilk pie. We definitely plan on coming back and look forward to trying their honey porkchops and their yam pie. Pros: food, service, homey atmosphere, HUGE portions more

Best fried chicken in all of los angeles, without question 10/10/2006

This is a mama papa type restaurant, with the owners on site every time I have been there. The serving staff are mostly long timers, and are nice to me. The physicality of the place leaves a lot to be desired, but you are going there to have the chicken (I hope) not to purchase furniture. I like most of the side dishes, especially the cold slaw, fries and beens. I have only eaten the ribs once - chicken every visit since the first visit. (The spicy chicken is just that, so be prepared if that is what you like - personally, I like it straight). The deserts are great, with the butter milk (chess) pie to die for. My male buddies love it just as I do, our wives are not as stong. I umderstand from my friends that the other entres are great, but I do not get there enough (too far to drive - about 20 minutes from my home) to not have the best chicken in town. Prices are quite reasonable and the soda/drinks are quite large. Go there, you will not be dissapppointed; and if you are, then you are the problem! more

BLAND FOOD 6/24/2006

The place is a little hole in the wall. the service is GREAT!!! everyone is really friendly and very attentive. Their homemade lemonade is also very highly recommended! .. cant say much about the food... we ordered the fried hush puppies, and their cajun chicken, it was bland and tasteless. not much seasoning. Pros: friendly staff / feels cozy Cons: tasteless food more

A taste of the South 11/20/2005

I live in Chatsworth and am lucky enough to be able to dine at Le Sisters very often. I have never ordered a meal that was bad and the buttermilk pie is to die for!! Having traveled to New Orleans often and indulged in its great food, I find Le Sisters a comforting alternative. more

Typical LA hype 7/31/2005

Just your typical, over rated, no so good, southern food restaurant. Being from the south, I know good cajun and creole and soul food. This was not it. Though, the buttermilk pie was nice - with nice being the optimal word. more

Quality AND Quantity! 6/3/2005

This is an amazing restaurant. The experience began with unsweetened lemonade...a rarity 'round these parts, but perfect for those controlling their sugar intake. The ""Hot Pups"" were beyond delicious, steaming hot and served with quality honey. The meals themselves were incredibly fresh, hot and huge. I witnessed many a doggie bag being hauled home. I've seen it written that service here is slow, but that, in my experience, was not the case. If it were, it would be a small price to pay for freshly-prepared dishes coming directly to you, having never seen a heat lamp. The dessert are perfect, and I only regret I could not try them all. The buttermilk pie and the bread pudding are two of the best desserts I've ever eaten. I recommend you make every effort to visit this superb, little place...I know they'll keep you coming back for more. Pros: Food variety, Price, Friendly Cons: Small place more

ABSOLUTE MUST EAT!AMAZING!AMAZING!AMAZING!! 6/1/2005

I AM FROM A CREOLE FAMILY WHO COOKS AUTHENTIC CREOLE FOOD. WE NEVER GO TO CREOLE/CAJUN RESTAURANTS BECAUSE IT IS NEVER GOOD. HOWEVER, THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. NINE OF US ATE & WE EACH ORDERED SOMETHING DIFFERENT ALONG WITH APPETIZERS. ""OH MY GOSH!!"" WERE SAID AFTER EVERY BITE. THE SERVERS ARE TOTALLY ACCOMODATING & FRIENDLY. WE MET THE OWNER AND HE IS A SHY GRACIOUS MAN WHO CLAPPED WHEN WE TOLD HIM HOW SATISFIED WE WERE, (THEN WENT BACK AND WASHED THE DISHES). YOU DONT GET ANY MORE DOWN HOME THAN THIS! THE PRICES ARE INCREDIBLY LOW! I WOULD HAVE PAID DOUBLE FOR EACH DISH. THE DESSERTS ARE ABSOLUTE HEAVEN!!! BUTTERMILK PIE, PEACH COBBLER, SWEET POTATOE PIE... OH MY!!! DONT LEAVE WITHOUT TRYING THEM ALL OR YOU WILL BE SORRY. DROVE 57 MILES TO EAT HERE AND I WOULD HAVE DRIVEN FARTHER IF I KNEW HOW GOOD IT WAS. Pros: FOOD, SERVICE, PRICES more
