I went into this Les Schwab center on 4/28/2012

I went into this Les Schwab center on Walker road and had a very bad experience. I had asked them to have my tires checked because of a peculiar noise coming from them. They checked it and came back saying that everything looked good. As I drove out from there, the noise came back. I went back and told them about it. The lady behind the counter (plump, grumpy and gorging eyes) was rude and said - there is nothing wrong and this is caused by moisture. I wanted the mechanic to drive with me, so that I could have him hear the noise. The store manager - Rich says - ""Sure, if you want to waste your time and my time. We only check, we don't repair."". I mean I am not sure what ticked him off. more

Plenty of LS centers around, Don't use this one 4/26/2010

Writing a review for this Walker Rd center I find plenty of gripe about customer service for this location. Plenty of LS centers around, why go to this. Called a couple of centers for some used tires and someone confirmed that the size I was looking for is available. When I reached Mr Rich gave me brushoff and attitude as if I was there to steal something. After waiting and him talking to everyone else over my head, finally he looked in his computer and asked me for my keys, no talk....... 1hr latter a tech walks to me and says my lug nut broke I will have to fix an appt. to have it fixed..said, talk to the boss. Tech hands in my keys and a Grumpy lady asks for money and has me sign a receipt and shoves my key to me. I asked about the lug and answer ""Oh yes, I will fix an apt for you"", me, how much will it cost, answer ""Are you asking me how much it costs"" looking at me down the nose, I will find out. She talks to the Mr Rich and right in front of me Mr Rich says ""tell him it was already like that when he came in"" and Mr Rich walks past me. How can it be when I had stock tires and the tires have never been rotated. Oh I forgot, Mr Rich was Chatting up another customer while being rude to me and ignoring me, so if Mr Rich has been nice to you maybe you were one of the lucky one. I took my car to another Les Schwab and paid to have the lug repaired. I have nothing against Les Schwab, have bought tires from them for other car. Just Mr Rich at the walker location has to have his head examined and maybe he is allergic to people of a different color. Pros: location Cons: Very bad customer service, communication more

Trustworthy????? 3/29/2010

I took my car into Les Schwab in Beaverton on Walker Road and asked them to rotate the tires I bought from them. They said my tires were too dangerous to drive on, and I needed to buy new tires from them. I was a mechanic in the Air Force so I have a little knowledge about tires. There was some wear on the outsides of the front tires due to the need of a front-end alignment. However, the tires were completely safe to drive on; they were far from bald (including the worn parts). By rotating them to the back, it would give more life to the tires so I wouldn't have to buy new ones prematurely. I have been driving on them for close to six months since Les Schwab refused to rotate my tires, and the tires have done just fine. If Les Schwab was concerned about safety, they should have rotated them instead of letting me drive off with the ""dangerous tires"" still on the front where they would continue to wear more quickly. If they were concerned about safety, they should have rotated the tires and had me sign a waver of responsibility so Les Schwab couldn't be held accountable had there been tire problems. All this makes me think Les Schwab just wanted to make a tire sale. They used to be trustworthy, but now I think they're all about making money. That is their number one objective, not customer satisfaction like it used to be. Pros: Former Good Service Cons: Not Trustworthy more

Poor workmanship potentially life threatening 11/26/2008

Les Schwab used to be able to charge higher prices because they offered outstanding service, workmanship, and warrantees. This has changed dramatically. My sister purchased 4 new tires. The passenger tire went spontaneously flat. Luckily, it was at city speeds. The tire was hot and slight steam coming from it. Air was put into the tire and it held the pressure. The next day, she takes it to the place she purchased it from ( SE Portland. 82nd streed ). They tell her it looks OK, probably a loose valve stem and nothing needs to be done. For the rest of the day, she does errands in the city. That evening at highway speeds, she smells burning rubber smell. Now the passenger rear tire has gone spontaneously flat. The tire is smoking from being run on a flat. It gets towed to Les Schwab in Seaside. They replaced only the rear tire and says the hub caps were put on incorrectly. I have never heard of anything like this before. Luckily, the outcome was not fatal...but, she's only had the tires on for 2 days. more

Overpriced, poor selection of tires 11/15/2008

I had two encounters with Les Schwab tire center and both time had very negative impressions. The first time when I came in, I asked for recommendation for winter tires for my SUV, tire size 235-65-17. They could not offer a single tire in this OEM size, although suggested several options in other sizes which would mount on the OEM rims and would have similar diameter. I did not like any of those options and ended up buying tires at Costco - and I glad I did! For comparison, the biggest online retailer of tires, TireRack, has a long list of winter tires in that size, so it is not a rare size at all. Pros: Short lines Cons: Prices twice as high as elsewhere; poor selection of tires more

only fools avoid this place!!!!!!! 3/1/2008

Les Schwab has been taking care of me for more

I've figured out why they run to service you 1/26/2008

I moved to the Pacific Northwest about 3 years ago and have heard my neighbors and co workers rave about Les Schwab Tire Centers. I am now in the market for new tires and so based on all of this talk, I called my local Les Schwab for a quote on a set of tires. As I drive a performance car and enjoy driving, I did a little homework to decide what kind of tire I wanted so I did go into this call with a pretty good sense of what the tires cost. I must say that I was shocked when I heard the amount which they told me for a set of 4 tires. I was given a quote of $925.20 for a mounted set. When I asked what they were charging me for each tire, I was told $216 per tire (not including mounting .......just for the tire). As I had visited several ""respected"" on-line tire dealers, I knew that I could buy the EXACT same tire for $149 per tire. Even with the $49.76 shipping charges for a set of 4 (found at seveal sites) I can buy the EXACT same set of tires and have them shipped to me for $645.76. At $216 per tire, that's a 44.9% mark up on the market price of the tire ..................... and I am pretty confident that all of the dealers selling the tire for $149 are making money on it. Pros: Great Business Model ................Overprice Everything by 45% Cons: Very $$$ more

Excellent!! 1/1/2006

I have been a customer at this Les Schwab for as long as they have been open. The customer service is excellent, considerate, and thorough. Les Scwab stores honor their warranties. I know. Several times the Les Schwab people in several Oregon cities have come to my automotive rescue and have gone above and beyond in their service to me as their customer. Just an excellent, excellent business! Kathleen Resburg Pros: Very thorough, Honor warranties, Excellent service Cons: Not open Sundays more
