Worth Visiting 1/11/2012

We go there about once a year and that's about right for us. It's amazing to watch the roll-throwers, if that's what you would call them. And the rolls are really good! I could eat a dozen. The problem, I suspect, is with all of those goofy people who are just there for the experience of catching the rolls. I suspect they are not all eating their rolls. Everyone wants to catch the rolls. Then the thrower has to go get some more. These skinny roll catchers need to re-throw their rolls to those of us who are there once a year to gorge on rolls and fried okra. Please, rethrow your rolls if you are not hungry! more

Do not miss if you're within 50 miles 11/25/2007

I love Lambert's. Once, my friend and I flew up there just to go here.\r \r The food is soooo good, but the rolls are better. :) It's really just fun to come and catch these things. I swear...there's a lineage for becoming a roll thrower. Just be careful you don't get an apprentice. They still haven't mastered the roll-throwing technique, yet. more

Home of the throwed rolls 5/23/2006

Lambert's is a local specialty in Missouri and among the general aviation crowd. They are, as they say, 'Home of the Throwed Rolls' where they throw oven-fresh, hot rolls to your table. The down home atmosphere is completed by 'pass-arounds', which are unlimited sides that get passed around the cafe.\r \r They offer all you can eat country-style food like hamburgers, catfish, chicken tenders, and sides like fried apples and okra. They also have a shuttle that picks you up from the local airport, so it's a great place to for the general aviation enthusiast to visit. more

Lamberts cafe 10/22/2005

The atmosphere in this place is lively and fun. The food is great homestyle meals with free samples and throwed rolls. The portions are extreme. I can't eat it all. The decor is over the top great. PROS: great food CONS: prices are high more

Family Entertainment and excellent Food 10/20/2005

The atmosphere at Lambert's is like no other restaurant. From the train that runs through the dining room, to the live piano music, to the "FREEBIE" food passers. The new building has helped to shorten the waiting lines and the parking is much better. The only complaint I have is with the price, though for the amount of food they serve, it is probably not out of line. more

expensive, crowded, overhyped, and touristy 9/8/2005

Lamberts is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY overrated. 30 years ago when they wre a small town diner, they were pretty good, but not great. But now you can expect to wait in line for an hour, get herded into a warehouse sized room with a zillion people, have food thrown at you, and experience rural Missouri in the same way that going to a Disneyland castle gives you an authentic European experience. If you want home cooking, there are dozens of great restauranstin Sikeston and surrounding towns. Skip Lamberts and go to a REAL restaurant Pros: fried okra, biscuits Cons: hassle, price, ambience more

Definitely worth the trip 7/1/2005

This is an awesome place to eat. Not just a restaraunt, but an adventure! From the thrown rolls, to the "slop buckets" full of freebies they pass around. The artifacts displayed on the wall, and everything else about this place is rare and unique. Awesome! more

The Hotter The Roll The Better 6/27/2005

We have taken so many family and friends to Lamberts that we have lost count. There is one in Sikeston, Missour as well as Ozark, Missouri near Branson. I believe there is also one in Alabama. They have the best rolls and when they are hot out of the oven, a "thrower" comes from the kitchen with a kitchen mitt and starts throwing them to people who are dining there. The other fixin's are great, too. Super atmosphere. You gotta go at least once. more

down home 2/24/2004

For those who are not aware, Sikeston is located exactly 150 miles south of St Louis and north of Memphis. Kinda right in the middle of I-55. If you go away from Lambert's hungry, it's your own fault. In addition to the menu items (everything from steak to fried chicken to hog jowls), you get basically all-you-can eat rolls and side dishes such as fried okra and black eyed peas. You have to catch the rolls though, sometimes coming from clear across the other side of the room. While you're waiting in line, take a look at a few of ""ol' Norm's"" Missouri mule pictures. The place is a trip! Pros: great food, real southern cookin, roll catching Cons: , its almost all fried, a roll hitting you more

There is no substitute. 9/6/2003

It's a bit of a drive from just about anywhere, but I've made 6 hour trips _just_ to eat there. It's true southern cooking- black-eyed peas, fried potatoes... It's called the home of the throwed roll, and it is literally true- one of the waiters throws a dinner roll at you from across the room... a true experience, and an excellent meal. Pros: spectacular food, fast service, inexpensive prices Cons: quite a drive, not heart friendly more
