Great pizza at a most reasonable price 11/9/2008

This review reflects an experience on Sunday, November 9, 2008.\r \r This working man's restaurant is a local favorite. The natives are friendly, but I wouldn't walk into the place with a suit and a tie, (although nothing was said, the looks were priceless when I did just that).\r \r The menu features pizzas, calzones, grinders and meat/vegetable pies. I ordered a small pizza, Sausage, Pepperoni and Black Olive. Price is around $7.50 for a small pizza and the 12+ ounce drafts are $2.25/each. There are 4+ draft beers available. Many bottled beers. They were out of Naragansett Beer in both Draft and Bottle so I can't comment on that.\r \r The sausage they used is interesting. It is NOT a crumbled sausage. Rather it is like a hard sausage or kielbasa that is sliced about 3/16 of a inch thick. The pepperoni is the REAL DEAL. It packs a lot of flavor and you can tell that it isn't the mass produced Hormel stuff so many places use. THe black olives were fresh.\r \r The crust is interesting. The rim of the crust is almost as tall as a deep dish pizza and has a satisfying crunch. The base of the crust goes from the crunchy rim down to a firm, but still soft center. They do NOT use pans and the bottom of the crust shows the oven's marks.\r \r Sauce was a balanced-spice tomato that allowed the flavors of the topping to come through. The cheese was pleasant. It handled the oven's heat, did not get charred, and still allowed the pizza to breath so that the sauce could reduce.\r \r If you enjoy looking at people, this place is full of characters. From ""Joe Six-pack"", tradesmen, to fisherman just off of the bay, young and old, from a variety of Ethnic backgrounds. All were watching football on the television screens. They tolerate outsiders who mind their manners and keep their mouths shut.\r \r If I come back to Warwick, I would try to carve out time to eat there again. Pros: Very reasonable pricing Cons: menu limited to pizza, calzones, grinders and meat/vegitable pies more
