Best Mexican in North County 8/5/2009

As a fourth generation Californian living in North County for over 20 years, this is the best Mexican cuisine I’ve found to date. The staff is exceptional and very attentive, without trying to turn over your table in favor of more customers/tips. Food is always well prepared /presented and the price is right, too. . Menu and ambiance are eclectic, just the way I like it. When I used to drink, they made a mean Old Fashioned and their wine list was always well received. A must try, especially for entertaining clients and/or out of town guests/family. Well done!! Pros: Food/Price/Staff Cons: Can't get enough more

The BEST Mexican Resturant EVER! 6/7/2009

Amazing 6 page menu.. exotics such as Duck, Pheasant, Boar, Antelope with Plantains, REAL Cuban black beans, amazing combinations.Regulat menu stuff is GREAT as well. HUGE burritos dinners and home made tamales. Fresh salsa and sauces.\r GREAT Margaritas with good prices.\r Not the fanciest , casual, but one of the places you LOVE taking friends to and exploring something NEW from the huge menu each time we go.\r We couldn't find better in our 25 years in West and East LA dining... amazing and worth the trip to Vista... a clean, friendly community yet undiscovered as well. Pros: A 6 page exotic menu, kicking Margarita, GREAT prices Cons: We couldn't find any except people don't know it is HERE! more

just average 3/3/2009

It's hard to find a good restaurant in Vista, considering how there's mostly fast food here. I decided to give La Paloma a try. \r \r The chips taste like they came from the grocery store. Their menu is kinda weird, with ostrich and antelope game dishes, and a lot of Cuban style dishes with fruit and creme sauce. I just wanted traditional Mexican, and got the chimichanga. The portions are quite small for the price, and with a very heavy deep-fried taste. To be honest, i prefer El Torito, better portions, better chips, priced lower too.\r \r If you want something weird like gamey dishes, then La Paloma is your place. If you just want traditional Mexican, go somewhere else. Again, Vista is real limited on nice restaurants, so you'll probably have to go to Oceanside to get something decent. Pros: attentive waiters Cons: cost, taste, chips more
