For years I have been going to La Carreta, but my last few visits were just unsatisfying. At first, during my last visit the glasses they gave us for water had dried on lettuce still on them, the salsa was watered down, the tables weren't cleaned off between customers other than just removing the dishes, and to top it off there was hair in our food. Now I could have gotten over the first 3 because of how well I was treated in previous visits, but the hair was where I drew the line. I told them that I wouldn't pay for food that made me almost vomit. They wanted me to pay, so I asked for the manager and they told me there was no manager and kicked us out and told us to never come back and after this visit, you can bet I will never go back there. Used to be the best, but even gas stations are cleaner and have better customer service. more

I have watched them spit in the food and they talk about killing the chingatas. They will kill whitey. I am a Mexican American and I will never go here again. more

Best family friendly Mexican restaurant 12/26/2011

Best family friendly Mexican restaurant around. Full service bar and good drinks. A top shelf margarita costs about as much as a 2 entree' meal but what do you expect. The Consuela is the best bang for your buck but don't try two unless you have a designated driver. They are strong! The food is good and doesn't look like it came out of a TV dinner from Safeway like some of the chains in the area (Chevy's). Fast and friendly service. 5 Stars in my book. more

The best in Gresham 12/12/2011

Our family has been going to La Carreta since it opened, and have never been disappointed. Try the Burrito Cancun, you will be glad you did! Prices are great, atmosphere is great, food is better than great. Take out orders are even wonderful. more

Best Place!!!!! 4/2/2011

This is a wonderful place to go to enjoy a good meal, and good times with family and friends. I have eaten at both the La Carretta in Portland on Mcloughlin and the one in Gresham on Burnside. Both locations offer wonderful service and food. more

Above Average 2/4/2010

We are regular diners here. The staff is friendly and the food is good. Portions are to be expected (I always take home some) and they have a great menu selection. I've always known them to bring out a complimentary dessert after each meal. The only drawbacks in my mind is their salsa is a little watered down and their enchilada sauce isn't quite to my liking. Excellent Food, Even better People 10/22/2009

Our family has been eating at La Carreta for many, many years -- at least since the early 90's. Not only have we fallen in love with La Carreta but also with the family who runs this restaurant. Jose, Tony, Teresa and all the rest of the wonderful people there. You can just tell La Carreta's atmosphere is perfect. They always greet you as a friend. We have met other families while there. We like to call them our La Carreta friends. Its a special place, hands down. Nothing else comes close to the quality they provide you. Not only in food but in service. Special people, excellent food, perfect place for just one person on a quick lunch break or a family of twenty celebrating a special occasion. Thank you La Carreta!!!!! One of Gresham's best 8/8/2008

I judge Mexican restaraunts on their Carnitas de Pollo and their beans and rice. I keep trying new ones and this place still wins! The service here is also the best I think I've ever received. The atmosphere is nice too. I've been going here for probably 17 years and it definitely rates as one of Gresham's best. Pros: Service and food more

We chose this restaurant since everyone I asked said it was the best mexican food in town. They were right! I love mexican food, and this place did not disappoint. The food was hot and delicious, and even the wait staff was outstanding. The price was fantastic, too. With two adult meals and a child meal, plus a beer, the tab was only about 23 bucks. Thats not even including the free icecream treat they gave us at the end. I love this place. We will definitely be returning customers here! Pros: Food, service, value more

We love it so much we have been going back for 17 years! 5/20/2008

The first time we went to La Carrettas was on my son's 1st birthday (1991). We loved the people, the service, the food and the DRINKS so much we have been going back for 17 years. We celebrate almost every birthday, graduation, and anniversary there. Tomorrow we will be going to La Carrettas to celebrate my son's 18th birthday and then again on June 6th for his graduation dinner. Pros: Bar drinks, food, value, waitstaff, the chili rellanos Cons: I can't think of any more

The best in the NW 1/18/2007

I love Mexican food, so I think my palette is pretty well trained at this point. I discovered La Carretta about a month ago while visiting family in Gresham and what can I say? Just an awesome place to dine out. Talk about hitting the jackpot the first time out for Mexican in Gresham...this place is wonderful. Friendly and welcoming staff, terrific food, value and ambience. Fabulous Service! 11/11/2005

My husband and I have been going to La Carreta for a while now. We usually order the same thing and the staff remembers what we order everytime. Even if I slightly vary one night what I get, they remember the next time. The food is soo good at such a great value. But I would say the service is what keeps bringing us back. My husband and I eat out A LOT! Once in a while you might get inconsistent service or food at other restaurants. However we both realized we've NEVER been let down in any way at La Carreta. We love the staff at La Carreta! Plus the mairachi music is fun in the evenings. Pros: Friendly staff, Authentic food Cons: Not possible here more
