Never again! 1/18/2012

My experience with Kid Care Dental has been awful. Initially my son began seeing Dr Chen when he almost turned one. She was very pleasant and did well with my son. He continued to see her for cleanings and such so there was no reason to see Dr. Kaplan who completely changed my feeling toward the practice. I was told my son who is now 4.5 has two cavities and had to see Dr. Kaplan for xrays and potential fillings. Totally fine with this as my experience had always been pleasant with Dr. Chen. I scheduled an appointment as expected. When bringing my son to any provider he is totally for doctors and dentists. He loves the attention and loves going for some ODD reason. So me being a first time mother as well as Social Worker I bring my son to see Dr. Kaplan. My first though when meeting with him was he seems initimidating as he is tall with a somewhat deep voice. His bedside manner was terrible especially when being a pediatric dentist. I went into the room with my son to have his xrays done and the doctors exact words were ""mom you can wait outside the waiting room"". Now mind you my son is 4.5. I instantly said, no he wont' be comfortable as I know my son. The dental hygienist said more kindly, ""its always easier when parents aren't in the room bc sometimes they become antsy"". That was not reassuring but a little less direct. Dr. Kaplan then says, ""This is how I do things"", I will call you when he is done. I finally left the room with the thought of being an awful parent leaving my son in the room with two complete strangers at 4.5 who I know would be uncomfortable. Finally they call me in and said ""he did great"". Meanwhile my son takes me over to the corner and says, mommy i have to tell you a secret. He yelled at me to not move. I instantly became aggravated because its almost like I knew not to leave the room yet felt like i didn't want to interfere with the doctors general practice. So another appointment is scheduled for a consult. My husband then went in with him and again had an awful experience which confirmed my opinion. Dr. Kaplan rushed through the appointment just telling him whatever it was that needed to be done and that was it. He explained the doctor was rushing the appointment and just giving you what you needed to know and that was it. He didn't feel like he was appropriate being a pediatric dental provider. Besides that the bigger factor is my son who is so friendly and engaging with everyone, was hiding behind my husband when he seen Dr. Kaplan in the room. That was enough for me to acknowlegde a problem and I will not return. On a positive note, the prizes and balloon making are great and get kids every time. They also have tools to prepare your child for xrays and any extensive treatment to practice and get the kids familiar with what they will be using on that day. That though is not enough for me to feel comfortable returning. more

my horrible experience 2/28/2011

while i was getting a cavitite filled i had my headphones on because i hate hearing the drills... supossedly he told me to raise my right hand if i was feeling anything.. but i obviously hadnt heard him because i had my head phones in.. so i started to feel something and my first instinct was to pull away which i did .. and then he started SCREAMING at me saying i told u to raise ur hand which ended up making me cry and wen he saw that i was crying he told me to quit crying and forcefully said "open". i went through the rest of the appointment in pain. i am 16 and i am now switching dentists more

Really suck experience 11/3/2010

My daughter is 3-yr old and has two cavities. It is my first time to bring her to this dentist, which is very unpleasant experience. The dentist just spend a couple of minutes inspecting her teeth and would not do anything. We were told that the parents can not be around during any treatment, and were asked to go back home and come again next time. The dentist was not even patient in listening to us. I asked that we used to go to Small Smile in Indiana where parents are allowed to go with the kids, especially when the kids are very young. Then the dentist just said: well, we have small smile here. You can go there. This really makes me feeling disgusting. I feel they just want to charge more money by asking patients to go as many times as possible. I won't go there again, nor recommend anyone to try that. more

Just don't be late! 1/21/2008

Dr. Kaplan is a great dentist. My son started going to him when he was 3/4 and needed extensive dental work. The games, balloons, and freebie toy at the end of the visit really helped him to get over the nerves. \r \r However, in 4 years of seeing Dr. Kaplan, we were late once. On that visit, the receptionist turned us away, although we had called to say we would be late and we were only 15 minutes late. (Be warned - the office is on a very busy road.) The receptionist was nothing short of nasty when we were late. \r \r Although we would positively rate Dr. Kaplan, be warned that the staff can be very unforgiving! more

Great Dentist for Special Needs Adults 8/10/2005

I love Dr. Marty Kaplan because he provides excellent care to my 26 year old daughter who is mentally retarded. They entire staff are very accomodating in dealing with her special needs. They provide pain-free care using the latest technologies. They are very knowledgeable in dealing with insurance companies. The office is bright and clean with lots of toys for the younger children and two video game systems for those who are older. Upon recommendation from another dentist, my daughter has been a patient for at least 8 years. PROS: Handicap access. CONS: Wish they were closer. I drive up to Stoughton from Lakeville. more

Kids first Dental visit went great! 5/27/2005

I was nervous about my kids' first dental visit, but everyone at Kid Car Dental did their best to help them to relax and have fun. Before the dentist even looked at them, they were armed with balloons and stickers, and when they were done, they got to pick a prize out the toy box for being "good"! I recommend this dental clinic for their excellent manner with children. All the staff are friendly and the front office is efficient. more
