I will not go back 2/1/2011

I ate at Joe's on Sunday, 1-23-11, at 3:30. Monday at 10:30 in the morning I started getting sick. That night I had to go to the ER and was put in the hospital and not released until Wednesday. I would have just thought I had a virus if not confirmed that it was from the last thing I ate. That was at Joes..chopped beef sandwich. How many others did the same thing and thought they just had a virus. But that's ok, because Joe took it upon himself to call the health inspector and of course they couldn't find anything out of place. So, it is what it is. I know my family won't eat there again. more

Biggest Potato EVER! 1/11/2010

Last Sunday I went to Joe's BBQ after church with my family and a few friends. Most of them got the all-you-can-eat beef ribs, but I decided to keep it light and just get a Barbecue baked potato. It cost just under eight dollars, and when they put the potato on the counter, I almost fainted. It was GIGANTIC! I asked the meat cutter if he could weigh it just for fun, and after the toppings were on the potato, it weighed just under three and a half pounds. The potatoes are much bigger than any that I have seen in the greater houston area, but this one was enormous. The girl at the register told me that if you tell them you want a big potato, they'll find you the biggest one they have ready. I highly recommend this restaurant! Best BBQ in town. Pros: Huge portions! Cons: no curly fries more

Great Food, but long lines 9/23/2009

I love going here, but you have to wait in line to order your food and then once again you have to wait in another line to pay for your meal when you leave. I wish I could just sit down and order or pay for it after I order or something so that I don't have to stand in line twice just to eat this great BBQ. Pros: Best BBQ in the world Cons: Parking lot bumpy, needs repair more

They just lost a customer 9/17/2008

I have been going to Joe's since I was a child. It's always been one of my favorite places to eat, and the people have always been friendly. But today, just days after hurricane Ike destroyed the coast, I decided to call and ask how late they were going to be opened. Considering the circumstances, I thought it was a legitimate question, and a reasonable one at that. I work at a bank, and we had that question all day today. Well, the lady who answered the phone HUNG UP on me! I don't care HOW many people have called in to ask that question, under the circumstances hanging up on me is uncalled for! Needless to say, they have just lost a customer who, at least for the past 20 years, has contributed a lot to their company. All it takes is one time. No one deserves to be treated like that, especially in this time of disaster. more

From childhood to adulthood, still the best BBQ! 6/8/2008

I grew up in Alvin and remember Joe's amazing BBQ as a staple of my childhood. The food Joe's serves up is pretty amazing. Portions are still HUGE, though prices have gone up a little over the years. Don't get me wrong, it's still a pretty solid deal for the quality, taste, and size, and given inflation, the price raise is to be expected. Pros: Best BBQ around, amazing flavour, price, quality. Cons: Table service is sometimes lacking, but that's not the norm. more

Quality of meat is deteriorating 5/19/2008

I have been going back to this place for years now (about 3times a year) and even bring friends and family even if it's out of my way. But yesterday, May 18,2008, was a downer. The beef ribs were dry, tough and almost burned. I asked the waitress to bring another serving after making my complaints known...but the same is true with the 2nd serving. It's a disappointment, even the sauce is a bit more salty compared to the last time we visited (about 6months ago). I hate to say this, but I will not be back to this place and bring friends and relatives. Have to find a another one. more

Joe's Barbeque Co 10/30/2004

Over the years we have watched Joe's Barbeque Co grow with Alvin. The Barbeque is excellent....flavored through and through. The homemade goodies at the check out stand are to die for. The fudge is the best. AND the food is reasonably priced. We won't buy Barbeque anywhere else. You go JOE! Pros: fast service, easy to find, reasonably priced Cons: , sometimes crowded more

The Best! 10/8/2002

Joes' Barbeque is the BEST! It's the place to take visitors for great BBQ. The all you can eat beef ribs is a super deal. The portions are huge. I ususally to order the stuff baked potato and take it home for the next day's lunch. Well worth the drive. We made the drive when we lived in Houston and like the drive much better now from Pearland. Pros: huge portions, good for groups, inexpensive Cons: none! more

Well worth the wait. 7/26/2002

Joe's Barbeque in Alvin is well worth the wait and drive. If you are a rib lover and can never get a good beef rib. Joe's is the place for you all you can eat ribs on Sunday night. Plus the large bbq baked potato stuffed with the works for just a few bucks. That does not fit your needs try the chopped pork sausage sandwich. Need a good warm cobbler with ice cream to finish off the meal they have it. What ever style of bbq you have had in the past I am sure they will make your mouth water for more. Pros: Inexpensive, Large portions, Service Cons: sorry there are none more

Definetely Worth Going Out of Your Way 7/25/2002

Joe's is the best barbeque in the Houston area. It is out of the way for most people, but definitely worth a try, especially if your going to be in the area. They have awesome buffets (a different one each day - chicken fried steak is the best!!!). The stuffed baked potato is always a good choice, but keep in mind that it is huge. I have never had a bad meal there. more

Best BBQ!! 5/22/2002

My family and I have been going to Joe's for years now. Not once have I had a bad meal there. Not only is the food GREAT and you're served large portions, but the staff is very courteous and helpful! My recommendation...BBQ baked potato or BBQ Nachos! Can't go wrong! Make sure you get there early if you go on a weekend...the line is out the door, but the food is definitely worth the wait. Pros: Inexpensive, Great atmosphere, good size portions more
