Horrible Hair, and most of all the owner left me speechless! 10/13/2011

I have been going to Jean Paul since 2002. I'm a wounded veteran and this place felt like home to me. This last time I went to Whitney and got my hair foiled. I conveyed to her exactly what I wanted and had not one but TWO pictures for her to emmulate. When it was finished it looked like a bad dream. The back was lighter that the front and the whole concept was to get me blonde. Nothing crazy. When I voiced my concern I was asked to come back in so a "top stylist" could look at my hair. She was rude and overbearing and the manager just sat there and said well can you find us that picture, why????? I told you what I wanted and it didn't happen. Then the owner Jean Claude called me and I thought for sure he would be compassionate and understanding but i was wrong. He told me to go somewhere else and that he doesn't beleive his staff acted that way and he doesn't think he can satisfy me. So he said go somewhere else. I don't care. He wasn't concerned with me being a veteren or being a customer who just lost out on $150 bucks for a bad hair dye. The owner was rude and unprofessional and didn't honor what he should have. I have never once complained over at Jean Paul and after nine years the one time I really get screwed the owner basically said "oh well". Sorry for ya. NEVER GO TO JEAN PAUL. YOU WILL BE VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!! more

Don't go there 2/10/2011

I would never send my worst enemy there. I went to Stephanie I asked her to even out my layers well it was down to the midlel of my back it's now above shoulder length. She cut the old school layers in the front I had to tell her to stop cutting the front more then once. All she kept saying you just have to let it grow. She was a major biotch. So was everyone that worked there except the shampoo girl. Don't go theree more

I Learned My Lesson! 5/18/2009

I am soooo disappointed with Jean Paul, and will NEVER return there, or refer anyone to that place they claim is a professional spa and hair salon! They cut my hair once, and it is the last time I will ever step foot in there! They portray themselves as being an elite hair salon? The woman who cut my hair was about 50 years old, dressed like she was 25, and doesn't know what 2 to 3" off means! She left 2 inches on my head!!! My hair was in the middle of my back, thick and naturally curly when I stepped in there. When I left, I looked like Florence Henderson from the Brady Bunch (no joke, I have pictures to prove it). She cut all of the curls out, razored it so that it's all uneven and frizzy now (can not razor curly hair unless you are properly trained in doing so)! It's a disgrace, and I have never been more depressed in my life!!! The two sides were uneven, and the worst part of it all was the so called stylist thought her work of art was a masterpiece. I immediately showed my disapproval and dislike, and was appalled when they held out their hands for payment! I had to pay for my hair to be chopped off against my wishes?? I cried all the way home!!! After a sleepless night, and knowing I couldn't let this happen to someone else, I returned the next day to speak with the manager. I mean come on....What gives a sylist a right to do whatever they please to your hair? The manager herself was even appalled! She couldn't believe the chop job I had, and didn't offer an explanation for the stylist! She was speechless! I was sure to bring in photos of my hair taken only days before it was hacked off. I will say that the manager was extremely sympathetic, and she listened to my concerns, and totally understood how I felt. She introduced me to a very professional stylist who brought me into a private room to fix my uneven mullet! They also compensated me with free products, but never offered my money back on the God awful hair cut! The other thing is that when I arrived there for the cut the day before, I specifically told the receptionist that I have very thick, very curly hair, and need to be appointed to someone with experience!!!! The receptionist obviously just threw me to the older woman thinking she had experience because of her age???? When speaking to the manager the next day, she even disclosed that the stylist DOES NOT have experience with thick hair. My hair has grown a couple of inches since that awful experience, but I do have to wear it up EVERY SINGLE DAY. I cannot wear it down, or get a corrective cut just yet. I have to wait a couple of months before another REAL stylist will even touch it! They can't believe that I even considered going to Jean Paul. I learned my lesson, and Jean Paul better be careful, because if I were the owner, I would be worried about being sued! Hopefully the money I paid will contribute to some extensive training classes for that stylist. Pros: No Pros at this place! Cons: They Need Further Training more

The Best Hair Outcomes - Worth The High Prices and Unfriendly Staff 4/27/2008

I've been going to Jean Paul since I was a wee-little girl (I'm 22 now). The best hair days I've ever had have always been after I left this Salon. I've gone in for every kind of coloring and corrective treatment, (ex. from blonde, brunette, fiery red, to getting out pink streaks so Bishop Maginn would let me come back to school). I've had short, bob cuts, and cuts with my hair down to my butt. I've ALWAYS walked out giddy with excitement from my amazingly awesome hair. The stylists at Jean Paul have consistently done a tremendous job. They can be a bit pricey though, and there do seem to be price-loopholes every way you turn. I was quoted the price of a haircut to be $35 - this after I told them very clearly that my hair is very very long. When I went to cash out, they tried to charge me $80 (additional costs for having long hair and for having it blowdried). After causing a bit of a stink, they begrudgingly gave me the student discount (I am very much a college student - another fact I was very clear about way ahead of time). Also, though LISA did a fantastic job, I don't think I've met a more cold, unfriendly person in a long time, if ever. My aunt and my sister have had bad experiences with their hair at Jean Paul. Both had their hair done at this salon one time, within the past year, and it was very adamantly their last. My sister went in for corrective color treatment, they weren't able to help at all, and they still charged $120. My aunt complained the haircut they gave made her look like a stuffy old lady. Both said their stylists were very unfriendly. I, on the other hand, have never had a bad experience at Jean Paul. I come confident they'll do a great job, and never leave disappointed. In fact, I'm always thoroughly pleased. As much as some unfriendly staff and high prices can put a damper on the process of getting my hair done, I consider these worthy sacrifices to my intense and unceasing satisfaction with the outcome. Pros: outstanding skill with hair (the best) - convenient parking - clean, professional looking salon Cons: cold, unfriendly staff - high prices with hidden charges more
