Ja'onna's Phlebotomy & Medical

I have to agree with the review Mr. Roberts gave. I went through the school and got my CPT with no problem. All I had to do is listen, work hard, and keep my mouth shut when class was going on. Many students in my class didn't even know how to shut their mouth when Mr. Roberts was lecturing. I hate school. I'm a pro BMX rider and if I'm not on my bike I'm not having a good time so if I can do it anybody can. Mr. Roberts taught us a lot about business and the real world of the medical field that I experienced while on my externship. My advice is keep your mouth shut do your work and you will succeed. This school has to be the worst in all of Northern California. The instructor/owner has had multiple complaints filed against him. Former students have attempted to file class action law suits against this institution. If you contact consumer affairs, you will find that the owner has had several schools shut down. He makes blantant racial and sexist comments and somehow continues to keep opening schools in other cities. It will not give you the education you need and you will be charged ridiculous added charges. The instructor's methods of teaching are outdated and you will learn nothing of what is really required to become a phlebotomist. The instructor harrasses the students, holding their graduation vs. being expelled as leverage to keep anyone from arguing with him. It was a terrible experience. Anyone considering Ja'onna's would be better off attending ANY other vocational school. Former students have either quit (with the instructor) keeping your tuition or have been forced to endure awful treatment in order to have a chance at graduation. He has unqualified assistants (family members) co-instructing the class. This individual must have learned how to get around the laws because he brags about never loosing a case filed against him. Not at all a place to learn how to be a certified worker in the medical industry. Please do research before thinking of enrolling in this awful excuse for a school. It is a scam! more

Mr. Robert is an excellent and one of the most oustanding teacher I've ever met. His lecture are very clear and easy to understand. If you have commitment for this class then go for it, otherwise don't just come to class and slack off....ITS A FAIL..don't complain ! Mr. Robert class outline everything out for you to study and he even show you how to study for class and national exam. As a student, you should be on your own. However, Mr. Robert not only taught students how to be a successful phlebotomist, but to be a good student as well. I highly respect and appreciate his effort as a teacher to help his students. more

Some of these reviews were written by some of the many excellent students who have always attended all classes on time and put real effort into their homework and classwork. This kind of student is a joy to teach because they become real medical professionals. This school has had over 90% quality students..... But, this school has had students with the following problems: 1. Lack of attendance, 2. Tardy, 3. No effort on their homework & practice, 4. Cheating on examinations, 5. Falsifying homework records, 6. Causing disruptions in the classroom, 7. Bad attitudes and more! This kind of student does not belong in the medical profession. You can tell which reviews were written by these students, they are too coward to sigh their name. They slander other people and businesses anonymously. Aren't you glad that they are not going to perform medical techniques on you or your family? more

I ran into these ratings when I did a google search to retrieve Mr. Roberts' phone number, and I am personally astounded about all of the negative feedback his school has gotten. The school is completely straight forward when it comes to what the costs will include and what is in store for the students as far as training goes. Mr. Roberts and the rest of his staff are extremely well educated people, who actually care about each and every student. Those of his students who refused to put in an effort, may be a somewhat disgruntled because this course is not meant to be an easy way to get a certification. It takes hard work, determination, and ambition. Mr. Roberts will give every student the education that they need to succeed, you just have to use it correctly. I left Ja'onna's with an immense amount of knowledge and confidence about all phlebotomy and laboratory related material. The comments stating that his students don't perform well, is completely incorrect. When I went to my internship, they offered me a job after the fact because my performance was ""impressive."" I learned everything I showed my superiors at my internship from Mr. Roberts and his staff. Even after I graduated, Mr. Roberts never failed to return my phone calls or emails regarding even the smallest of questions or concerns. If you're looking to get a great education, and won't mind having to work for it, then Ja'onna's is a great place to attend. more

What I have learned is every school, colleges their are going to be great expense, but far as my experience with Ja'onna's Phlebotomy school with Mr. Roberts has been a very good experience. He puts everything up front on the table their is nothing hidden and of course it is the student's responsibility to read all disclosures and do research on the school of choice. Mr. Roberts has been nothing but sincere towards his students learning needs as we all want to be successfull students. I would want my instructure to care enough about his teaching and setting the students out to carry is teaching out in our career goals. I would not be here taking classes with Mr. Roberts if he did not care about the students and the medical field. It takes a genuine person to help those who are in need for medical care. I always believed if I wasn't taught right I surely wouldn't want to be treating my family members so why would I want a medical student who didn't care to treat myself or my family members. So please don't listen to what you read do some investigating on your own you never know what is true or what is false. more

I was looking up my old school and was amazed to find that some disgruntled ex-students have found their ""forum"" to badmouth the school. I have been in the heathcare field for many years and found EXACTLY what I needed when I went to Ja'Onna's. I did not have to deal with sales people trying to get me to spend money and time on classes that were unnceessary which I loved. The instructors are clear about what is expected and since it is a small setting, you have to pay to get one-on-one tutoring, etc., but it is soooo worth it if you need the extra instruction because you will receive the EXACT information that you need, they make sue of that. I have not experienced another educational setting where I received the amount of information that we received in a limited time and actually had fun doing the extra work needed at home. THAT IS THE DIFFERENCE!! Some people think that they can get by on paying the fees and not do any of the work that is required to succeed at Ja'Onna's...i unfortunately had to witness this firsthand, but that is in no way a reflection on the school. I received a 94% on my state exam and have been working every since I finished my extern and I am NOT the only one in my class to do so. I think that speaks VOLUMES!!! more

What reviews you have read that are negative are correct. This guy and his school are nothing more than a SCAM to get your money and send you packing with $5000 less in your pocket. Everything is on CASH basis, you're lucky if you get a receipt, he has an excuse for everything and knows how to bait the hook and reel you in before you realize what has happened. He preys on the ignorance of some and makes it hell for others who have caught on, but too late to get out and get a refund. I was drawn into this school because of the lab class. After paying 5500.00 I was locked into his contracts w/o a way out once i realized it was a scam. I not only did not touch a microscope, petri dish or slide- but actually had to color in a book to prove i did the homework. I graduated almost a year ago and 99% of the class has yet to find an externship which you pay him for but noone excepts our students. The training is outdated, sub-optimal and unethical. He continues to extort money (cash only) from the students in order to get your cert. and the externship which for most is never aquired. If you are looking into this school for your son/daughter, don't think twice. If you are an adult, well you have been warned. Go to an accredited school. Cons: $6K down the drain more

I don't even know where to begin. How about for starts the man (James Roberts) is a damn criminal! Who else makes you pay everything in cash? Hello, money laundering at the least! Not mention that he told some of his students about his criminal past, what kind of freak takes in 32 foster children....you get the idea. Use your common sense, I should have used mine. Call other phlebotomy instructors and ask why they aren't teaching anymore, because there's no jobs in phlebotomy right now! Look at his books, they're just paperback pieces of crap that he made up. He has his ass covered here and there to keep his ""school"" alive, but in actuality he's a bigger scam than any place else you could ever go! Whatever you do, do NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT GO HERE! I can't stress that enough. You might as well take your 5,000 dollars and just eat it. Oh and his other ""instructors"" is just his daughter and some lady who got kicked out of kaplan college, because they don't have a phlebotomy program anymore BECAUSE THE FIELD IS DEAD. He makes it seem like he has connections with all these different hospitals, but when it came time for my externship NONE of them even wanted to take his students, or were too short staffed. None of this has anything to do with my performance in the class, or any of the other students in the class, so don't take it that way, because that's what he'll try to say. This man should be investigated for money laundering, and what's worse is how he can morally turn out students in a field that isn't hiring. These people desperatly need money, to feed their kids and to keep a roof over their head, and he is giving them the BIGGEST LOAD OF CRAP, spoon feeding it to them! Everything about him is totally fake, he's NOT ACCREDITED and employers have told me that they don't take his students because his teaching is outdated and his students can't perform well. If you really want to get into the medical field do medical assisting. His program may only be 16 weeks, but it takes almost 6 months just to get an internship (which he charges you 100 dollars for a piece of paper you can totally get online), so you might as well do something worth you time. Seriously, you'd have to be retarded to still take his program after everything I just said here, and you will deeply regret wasting 5,000 dollars and you will still be unemployed.
