Janie Lou's Cake Shoppe

As I'm planning my own wedding and checking for services online I cannot resist the opportunity to write my own comment about Janie Lou's Cake shop as I've come upon this. In the past I ordered a birthday cake with her, it was not only expensive and practically unedible, but in addition it was badly decorated with the most ugly little plastic tools, which were not at all requested. Simply because it was ordered with a man's name to be written on the cake does not mean dinky, cheap, tacky little plastic toy tools are required. I was embarassed to present it, removed the added "decorations" and had to do my best to make it decent in appearance. The worst part came when we tried to eat it. The cake ended up in the garbage, it was THAT bad. My family members have also had negative experiences there, with their complaints being of over-pricing and bad quality. I'll gladly pay top dollar for a cake, but expect it to taste well, if not exceptional. Day old bakery supermarket cakes beat this baker out by far. Don't waste your time or money. more

This lady SAVED my wedding! DH and I were determined to have chocolate Tastykakes instead of a wedding cake, but we, of course, wanted them prettied up! A friend of the family is quite good at decorating cakes, and volunteered to do the job. Unfortunately, she got sick at the last minute, and we were left with about a bazillion naked Tastykakes! In desperation, we went to Janie Lou, who agreed to do the decorations on SOMEBODY else's cupcakes! Talk about a bakery going out of their way! Let me just say, she did SUCH an unbelievably beautiful job! The cupcakes were the talk of the party...and by the way, Janie Lou's OWN cupcakes are terrific too! We use her bakery every time we need a cake for a birthday or event, and their goodies are unfailingly delicious! Stop in & satisfy your sweet tooth! more
