I was broken down on a Wednesday night with my family. I needed a jump start. I asked the employees in the restaurant if they had any jumper cables but they did not. My daughter left the dome light on. I asked an Independence policeman that was pulling through the drivethrough if he had jumper cables. He said- No. I can call a tow truck for you..... Thanks for all your SERVICE to the community- ""Protect and Call a tow truck"" should be there new motto. Not ""Protect and Serve!!"" I digress. So 35 minutes later Independence Specialty tow shows up. Steve hopped out, hooked up the jumper cables and my van started immediately. He then went on to say they only accept cash and checks, no credit cards or debit cards....CAN YOU SAY --WAKE UP IT's 2006. Also they wanted $75 for a jump start in McDonalds parking lot. Hardly a hazard at 10.25 PM. He stated anytime it is police ordered it is $75.00 minimum. I asked what his regular rate was and he stated $45.00 but the city of Independence has a minimum of $75.00 . Finally he agreed to accept $45.00. My advice.... BARTER!!!!
