Just went to this store for the first time and found the amount of stuff in it totally overwhelming! You have to follow arrows around the store just to see everything and not get lost! Some conveniences that they offer parents were super great -- drop-in daycare/babysitting for while you shop. If you do need to take your kids around with you they have "Play Stations" (not the video game system) set up around the store strategically (and frequently) with activities for children to self-entertain while the parents look at the different rooms/furniture. I found it really helpful to see several sample rooms decorated with their furnishings to see how they used items in different ways. Everything here is about maximizing your space, organizing efficiently, but still living comfortably. There is also a cafe-type of eatery and a snackbar inside the store if you are there for the long-haul. The item names of things are in Finnish which can be a little confusing so you have to look at the item tags for all of the details. They provide maps of the store with an area for notes and little pencils so you can write down items that you like that you want to order/look for later. They have quality stuff at an affordable price and the selection offered is amazing. You're sure to find some style (traditional, modern, etc.) that fits in your home here. more

IKEA 4/14/2006

IKEA is a great place to buy all kinds of things: furniture, housewares, bedding, carpets, curtains, giftwrap supplies, gardening supplies, pet supplies, and more. It can be a bit overwhelming if you've never been there or if you're not sure what you're looking for. I recommend getting a catalog and browsing first. Furniture is not of highest quality, but it looks modern and is very affordable. Most items need to be assembled at home. Try their swedish meatballs in the cafeteria or take a bag home. It's not bad. They have lots of fun places for kids to play inside, including a childcare center for potty-trained kids. It's a fun place to go (as long as it's not a busy Sat. or Sun). more

Ikea 3/29/2006

The new Ikea is open in West Sacramento as of March 1, 2006. I have already been there twice. The furniture is very affordable, and easy to put together. I have turned a guest room into a Library, with new book shelves, and prints for the walls. Looks great and everything goes together! When you go, plan to spend the day and at least 100-200 dollars. The cafe is really great too, but the lines were a bit long at lunch time. All in all a fun day trip shopping experience! more
