Love the Group X class schedule and loving the new floor in the classroom. I like to meet up with my friends, take a class, then relax in the pool area. This club has everything I need and more. My only concern is getting the pool set at a certain temp. Some days its warm, other days it kinda cold. Not sure if it has to do with maintenance, but my joints just get stiff when its cold. \r \r My granddaughter always ask if she can go with me or when I am going next. She has taken a liken to some of the daycare staff. Daycare is not free, it's about $2.50 per visit. I think they have a unlimited monthly option though. I just usually have my granddaughter a couple days out of the week. We also like to take advantage of family swim on the weekends.\r \r Overall, I like this club. If you are new to living a healthy lifestyle, changes like this can be tough. Just make sure to surround yourself with positive people that'll show support. I know its beneficial to have workout buddies. It helps me to hold myself accountable. This group exercise also encourages me to see some friendly familiar faces on a daily basis. \r \r I recommend this company to my friends and family. I've already gotten a couple of my friends to sign up. I got a couple of free months for the referrals. Contracts used to be for 24 months, but now they only do 12 months. Or you can pay in full, which is what I did. All in all, I'm a happy camper. more

This location is cool, just not my favorite. They have everything I would need to get an effective workout. I just didn't like the layout. \r \r Front desk girl was still really nice. She greeted me and said good day with the same energy. Some people don't like this, I find it refreshing. \r \r My advice is when you get signed up, make sure you get all club access. I believe there are 4 in the Boise area. If you don't like one club, you can always go to another one. Also, if you can pay your membership in full it will be cheaper. And you don't have to worry about giving them your credit card. Which is what I did. My membership averages out to be about $28 dollars a month. more

Just signed up about 2 months ago! I got all access membership, so I'm trying them all out. This location seems to be the oldest! The employee's are very nice at the front desk. I told them I was new and a salesman gave me a tour anyways. I told him up front I was already a member, he was still extremely helpful. I could tell he liked his job and wasn't in it just for the sale. Tons of cardio machines and free weights! Even though as a member we are required to wipe off the equipment when we are finished, it was still very clean. Keep up the great work! I don't go to the gym for this reason alone. But the scenery was nice, a lot of attractive people. If the T.V. is on, your gonna watch it. right?! Just don't get caught staring. I also enjoy it's not full of meat heads! That can be a intimidating. Overall this is a nice club. There is a pool, hot tub, wet and dry sauna's at this location.\r \r more

I have had problems with Idaho Athletic Club over and over in the past three years.\r \r This past spring, upon a review of my bank statements I found that for nearly three to four months the club had been taking out money and charging for five memberships (rather than the two for my household). Total, they took nearly five hundred dollars more than they were supposed to. They were super sneaky about it as well. After a nearly two week battle over phones and two hours with a toddler in the corporate office I was finally able to get the money for three of the imaginary contracts refunded to me and cancel my husband’s as well (it was up and he did not want to renew). Sure, I was refunded my money, but no way to get that time back. I did not get even a hint of an apology from the company at any level that this occurred.\r \r Recently, I was noticing that payments were not being taken out on the date that they were scheduled to. Rather than the 15th of each month they have been from the 16th through the 27th. When I spoke with Nicole (the awesome passive aggressor that she is) at the corporate office, she snidely told me that the reason that the reason they are taking out not only my regular membership of $21.20 they are adding another $19.50 to their profit but hitting my bank account up as much as possible was due to ‘insufficient funds’ (side note: my bank shows no records on any statement that they attempted to take out my membership fee of $21.20 until they take out the 40.70 that Nicole states is from ‘insufficient funds’). Ultimately they not only get my monthly membership but an extra bonus to boot! Wonder who gets goodies from that kick back? This incident is it and I am done with this company. I called the oh so personable Nicole back at the corporate number and asked if she could mail me a copy of my contract and my account statement. I was told over and over by her that “you can go to the club or here to corporate to get it” I had to keep asking her why she could not mail it only to have her repeat the same statement over and over. Finally, she told me she “might be able” to mail it, but only the contract. I thanked her before hanging up in frustration this time. I then called the Meridian Club to speak with the manager (only so I could be certain that I was getting a copy of my contract mailed since Nicole did not give me definitive answer). When I spoke with Tony, the manager, I was told the same thing that Nicole told me but he was (at the beginning) willing to send my contract. By the end of the call however I was told I was not able to have it mailed or faxed because “how do we know it is you we are mailing it to? It’s like if your sister came in and asked to look at your account, we can’t do it because it is a liability to us”. When I asked if there was ANYONE beside Nicole to speak with at corporate I was told she was it and the only other person to speak about it with would be collections. Not surprisingly the call was disconnected at that time. Even more I wasn’t even close to shocked that when I attempted to call Tony back he was on another call and couldn’t take mine.\r \r What sort of company has such low ethics they will not allow members to have their information sent to them through the mail to the mailing address on the account? I was told that I would have to pay a hundred plus dollar fee to cancel and be done with the crap-bag company. You think that after my whole ordeal with the overcharging last time they would go ahead and waive it. But hey, you never know what is going to happen with the (not so) great and (un)ethical company that is Idaho Athletic Club!\r \r Overall, I am going to recommend that anyone looking to join a fitness club or gym in the Treasure Valley to go ahead and give your money and business to any other club or gym in the Treasure Valley over Idaho Athletic Club. \r more

Health and Safety Issues Cannot Be Ignored! 3/4/2011

\r I have been a member of IAC for a few years never really had any issues until February 28, 2011. I was chemically burned over 90% of my body using the hot tub at the Lake Harbor facility. What has occurred is a loss of body hair, patchy red rash spots, extreme burning and itching and of course the smell of the chemicals as they reverse and eventually exit the pours. This club has been contacted on more than one occasion to provide my health care provider a list of the chemicals and amounts used in the routine maintenance of the hot tub, those efforts as of this review have gone ignored. My doctor is trying to establish a method of treatment. Currently I am prescribed a cream designed for extreme cancer radiation patients and it is having little success. It is interesting that in the year 2000 the great state of Idaho decided NOT to continue regulating Health Club facilities because they are considered ""semi-private clubs"" not ""Public Pools"", so they are EXEMPT from regulation and state jourisdiction. So these club owners can be as negligent as they wish with little reprocussions. As of this review, the problem still exists at this club. Efforts were not made to drain and correct the chemical situation in the hot tub.\r I guess you could say ""BUYER BEWARE"" when joining, before using any of these facilities please check out the ""Clarity, Color, Smell and Temperature"" before using these facilities. I am very much concerned for the many innocent people who have unknowingly fallen victim to this situation. If you are a member of IAC and have had recent exposure to this situation you need to contact CENTRAL DISTRICT HEALTH 208-375-5211, and also the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU 208-842-4649 and please see a Doctor for treatment, their could be other complications caused by this neglect. In my opinion it is time these guy's step up and take responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of their club members above selling new memberships!. In one day I have racked up in medical bills twice as much money as my yearly membership fee's, I don't want you to be next!.It is my understanding that the staff at these clubs are responsible for the monitoring of these chemical levels in the pools and hot tubs, that in itself is very scarry!. Idaho law needs to be changed and your local legislator needs to hear your voice and make these organizations accountable for their actions!. Thank You for your attention!\r \r more
