Romantic Proposal in Carmel 11/13/2008

I choose this hotel to propose to my girlfriend. It looked really nice online and has a restaurant where I planned to propose. Their concierge, Charlie, hooked me up with a service called Romantic Room Designs, which I contracted to decorate my room with a romantic flair. In speaking with their owner, Brian, he convinced me to do the proposal in the room. Everything turned out SO great. We went to dinner and when I didn't propose she seemed a little put off. When we walked back to our room, the lights were dim and their was a pathway of rose petals and candles leading to the bedroom. There were red roses and candles and chocolate and champagne - looked elegant but ""wow."" I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me and she said yes! What a great memory. I honestly don't remember much else about the hotel but Charlie and Brian helped me to create a great proposal story. Pros: Ocean Views, Concierge, Privacy Cons: Parking more

Outstanding Views, romantic place to stay 8/23/2006

We stayed here quite a while ago and the place was looking a bit worn. Hyatt took it over and made it one of their Park Hyatt properties. After I guess it was one year of renovations, this hotel has returned to prominence! The rooms are very luxurious, the views are still tremendous and the service was excellent. Their Pacifc's Edge restaurant is one of those dining experiences you savor for quite a while (and so you should at that price!). Lobby area with big fireplaces, ocean views...very relaxing and peaceful. My wife surprised me by having our room decorated for our anniversary by a local company called Romantic Room Designs. When we got there, we had rose petals, candles, supplies for the bath, and some extra romantic goodies! We definitely plan on returning to the Highlands (and I've heard the Tickle Pink Inn next door is good too - just not as many services). A great anniversary memory! Pros: Views, Service, Restaurant Cons: Can't walk into town more

Nice and Romantic, Just what the doctor ordered 3/11/2005

As I type this from the feathered bed with the fireplace a blaze. This is a great hotel but here are some things I noticed. There are no convenient power outlets. Internet access is Wifi with T-mobile hotspot and you must create and account. Don't trust the maid's way of starting a fire, it is set up for show. There is no gas, it is 100% wood burning. A big moth just flew into the room because there is no screen to the sliding door to the balconey. Now the view rooms of the ocean are simply amazing and worth the extra money, otherwise stay somewhere else. The bed is comfortable with extra fluffy pillows. Parking is far from our room, but it was self service or valet. If you want to get away this is the perfect place!!!!! Pros: Great View, Great Lounge, Very Romantic Cons: No desk, Parking, far from city more
