Best

Well, my prior comment still stands. Actions do speak louder than words. The team girls are halfway into their season and they are doing a fantastic job! The current coaches ...

Worst

Good: Location. Close to home.. Bad: Only one instructor to a class of 10 to 12 toddlers. Not enough direction. More instructors would mean that parents wouldn't need to go in wit...

"We've had enough" 5/13/2010

HUGS; what is it? It stands for Hunltey Unlimited Gymnastics School. I am a gymnast there and I have a lot to say. I have had enough of these degrading and rude comments about our gym. The people posting these comments are Rec parents with nothing better to do then dis our staff. First off, it is fine to say what you feel, but you don't even know the staff or the gymnasts. How can you say that the coaches talk to much and are self-centered? Do you even know them like we do? No, you don't. How would you explain all of the banners on the walls then? Our coaches work extremely hard and love what they do. Would you like to dedicate hours of your time coaching children that won't listen to you for 1 minute? Another thing about break, the only reason that we have to eat break in the lobby is because there is no other space for it. If you don't like the way the gym runs, then take your kid and leave. There are people on a waiting list trying to get in and we don't need you wasting our time if you don't wanna be here. I hope that whoever puts all of these nasty comments on here never shows there face at hugs again, it is just sickening. Our coaches Amy, Dennis, Mario, Tina, Sue, Megan, etc. shouldn't have to deal with this criticism. It's just getting old and we have had enough. more

Even one bad review is still not a good review no matter how you spin it! That's to bad! more

Hugs 5/4/2010

1st off I would love to give this place a good review but I can't for so many reasons!!! :( When you come in to the place kids shoes and clothes are right by the door that's fine but in the winter the floor is always wet because they CAN NOT SHOVEL. I do have to say they got new carpet and chairs, but the gymnastic girls take a break and trash it because there is no supervision. (only on rare occasion will someone say something to the girls) The blond in the office don't even get me going on her, one coach is never spots and is always looking at his phone, one is so worried about how she looks, dry skin always the center of attention! Maybe someone should tell her to pay attention to her kid that runs around out of control!!! Get a sitter!!! One coach needs to realize that she hates her job and find a new life!! The matt's in that place are old and flat, I never see them clean a thing in that place I think they open the door and just let it blow clean! I don't have to many other nice things to say about the place but it's just sad, sad, sad. more

HUGS is a great school 3/5/2010

My daughter has attended HUGS for several years and still does. I feel it is a safe school with competent coaching staff. The coaches are dedicated to the overall development of the athletes. Talented, confident, and fearless gymnast are produced at HUGS. The staff is approachable and accessible. There are few bells and whistles. No frills at the gym but its very practical and I feel that I am getting a quality service at a competitive price. more

Hugs one of the top competitive gyms in Illinois. 2/5/2010

My daughters have been at Hugs for 8 years and I have watched them grow up with a fantastic group of girls. 2008 level 5 took 4th in state and the next year level 6 took 4th again at state. Also in 2009 hugs had 2 regional champions at level 8. Hopefully level 7's as they have moved up from level 6 will do the same this year as it did the last two years and finish in the top 4 at state. Good luck girls, state is in just about a month. more

more rec than real time gymnastics 1/30/2010

Hugs is great if u want ur 5 year old to have play time, but if u are looking for big time gymnastics u wont find it there. How many level 4s are there? Now, how many level 10s? more

Hugs is the best!!! Mega is not close 5/30/2009

I just read through some of the comments about Hugs and Mega. Some of the lies posted about HUGS are just sickening. Hugs Level 6 girls were doing so well in their first year at level 6 that they competed in a few meets at level 7. They were not even at level 7 for a few months, that is why they chose to compete at level six state. By the way Hugs took 4th at level 6 state with many state champions and all girls were first year level 6. HUGS Level seven several state champions. Level 8 we have only 4 girls, 2 of which were state champions, both went to regional and 1 took first the other 3rd at regional. Level 5 we have state champions. MEGA had no state champions in 5, 6, 7, or 8. Comparing these two gyms is not even close. MEGA does well at one level, the lowest competitive level, one year, and you think that you can even come close to HUGS, what a joke. Hugs took 7th this year and 11th last year at level 4. Last year MEGA finished 38th for level 4. This year MEGA level 5 finished 36th. MEGA had to add multiple gymnastics meets into their schedule at the end of the year, because so many girls had not qualified for state. Besides the obvious difference in gymnastics talent as shown by the overall record, Hugs is a clean and friendly environment. Both my girls are in the program and the other gymnasts have become their friends. They have sleep overs with them and enjoy the club and the coaches greatly. more

Mixed feelings* Not the cleanest 5/11/2009

We went to a birthday party there several months back. The person running the party for HUGS arrived late on the Saturday of the party & opened the doors for us just 10 minutes before guest were due to arrive. When we walked in the place was trashed! There were smashed chips & paper all over the floor. The tables were not set up for the party. The mother holding the party for her daughter was horrified!!! The bathrooms were dirty, the chairs that you sit on while watching your kids play are all torn & tattered. The carpet it dirty. The walls are all beat up. I too have not heard the greatest things about the coaches for the age group of 6 that is. They pick their favorites & ignore the other kids that may seem to take a little longer to get the hang of things. I personally would not bring my child their & I think that the mother who held the party there never paid for the party or brought her daughter back there. The Coaches either like you or they don't. And if they don't, your sure to be talked about. more

HUGS GYMNASTICS ROCKS!!!!!!!! 4/10/2009

i love hugs gymnastics and ive been a member of the club for about 3 to 4 years and its great ya they have had some ups and downs but overall its awesome so i really prefur u to come there because u will get much better and to proove it u can look at the banners and then tell me that we arnt a good club and that we r a 3 star gymnastics club because thats wrong and who ever said that u might just want to keep your mouth shut for now on more

HUGS 4/10/2009

Hi, i went to HUGS and i think they don't push the gymnasts hard enough and they don't even have a boys team! i think that is a problem! thx for ur time bye! more

What about your upper levels MEGA 3/31/2009

Ok, hold on, Huntley Unlimited has an AMAZING compulsary AND an AMAZING upper level! I beleive all I have heard about MEGA is that they have an OK level 4 team. Don't go all bashing on HUGS beacause you read some scores on the internet or something! Have you even been to the gym? Doubt it! Because if you have you would see that we actually have won at least 200 banners ( a lot of them aren't up yet. ) All MEGA has is level 4 banners! HUGS is WAY better! Also, HUGS has THE BEST COACH IN THE WORLD! And I think all of the gymnasts there that are in competitive would definately agree with me! So, that is all I have to say. more

I checked the local gyms 3/23/2009

I know people that go to HUGS and I know people that go to another gym called MEGA. I never hear anything negative about MEGA, but every once in a while there just seems to be arguing back and forth about HUGS and I don't understand why. People go where they are happy. Also, you can look up every single gyms scores to see what they have done as far as competing. I looked them up today and so far I have to say, MEGA seems to do very well at every competition they go to. HUGS doesn't do bad, but MEGA seems to win a lot. Do your homework people and stop arguing. The only other gym I ever hear negative stuff about, is Springhill gymnastics. Apparently, HUGS and MEGA are both better than that place. I've never heard anything good about it. Here ends my public service message. Dorothy B. more

Holding back? I don't think so... 3/23/2009

I wouldn't be talking about holding gymnasts back beacause your level 4's are 12 years old. Our level 4's are only 7 years old and they ROCK!!! And our level 6's aren't level 7's right now because they aren't ready to compete at that level yet.. And because our level 6's rock...I would look out for us next year at level 7! :) more

Level 4 State - Who won 1st? Not HUGS 3/23/2009

I would prefer to not respond to anything on here, but seeing as someone had to comment on MEGA not winning anything for level 6 state, I must comment. There are, at this time, 3 girls on level 6. You can't win a team award with 3 girls. MEGA is an up and coming gym. They are only 2 years old but yet, they took FIRST place at level 4 IL state. They also have the SR 1st place team state title AND also won 1st place all around for the JR and SR groups. That says something. I have NO doubt that MEGA will be the gym to watch. You can go into the gym and see the large group of banners they have now from their level 4 girls. MEGA also won 4th place at the Chicago Style meet which is HUGE. more

Hugs is the best 3/23/2009

to the people who say hugs is "A HORRIBLE GYM" i feal really bad for you because you are missing out. First of all gymnastics is a great sport and the coaches and gymnasts at hugs make it fun.so I totally recommend going and working out at hugs.and again if you arn't at hugs then i kinda feel bad for you. more

State 3/20/2009

Incase you haven't heard in the newspaper HUGS took 4th place in level 6 team! That is better than most of the gyms around. I mean MEGA and Crystal Lake didn't even place at state. Those are the closest gyms around here and we did grest! So if you need a gym come to HUGS! more

HUGS! 3/18/2009

If Huntley is a "low class gym" then why are we ranked 4th best gym in the state of Illinois currently? I feel sorry for your gym who is obviously ranked lower than us. more

Club Goals 3/16/2009

I am curious to know why the club would compete gymnasts at Level 7 where they score high enough to qualify for Level 7 State but then compete at Level 6 State. Is this really in the interest of the gymnasts? Or to rack up more banners for the gym? more

HUGS FOREVER 3/11/2009

Kayla was a great gymnast because the head coach of HUGS coached her. And if HUGS is such a "horrible" gym the why do all of our banners say "1st 1st 1st 1st 1st 1st"? more
