HHH was established in 1979. Since then it continues to grow and has become recognized as a source of compassionate, comprehensive care for the terminally ill and their families. HHH is a non-profit organization that emphasizes quality of life by keeping the patient as comfortable as possible while remaining at home. With caring and professional attitudes, the hospice team (team members include: home health aid, registered nurse, patient care coordinator, physician, social worker, volunteer coordinator, chaplain, certified volunteers and bereavement coordinator) helps patients and their families prepare for death in ways that are acceptable to them.
After death, hospice continues to assist the family with bereavement services and support for 15 months. West Branch Regional Medical Center (John Tolfree Health Care System) has promoted and assisted with the development of Hospice of Helping Hands, Inc. In 1991 this program became a licensed hospice under the Michigan Department of Public Health guidelines and was granted Medicare certification.
