The scariest in northeastern Indiana! 10/29/2007

I've been through many haunted attractions in my life, but this one is by far the scariest and most improved haunt in the area. \r I went through the hotel several years ago and it was a joke. There was no plot and really nothing all that scary. Heck, they used cartoons for advertisements. But now, as I have been told, they have a new person in charge of the actors and they have brought together people who are passionate about haunting. I was told by the person in charge that actors were required to attend weekly manditory ""Goul Schools"" to learn how to haunt properly. Also, a story line has been created with all of the scares actually making sense. Also, with the creation of a likeable, yet still scary icon character, Eldon, the 100+ year old bellhop and conceirge of the hotel, guests begin to feel the story line come alive with the unsettling, yet entertaining antics of the mischevous old man.\r The hotel also takes a unique approach at scenery. The entire haunt takes place under black light with everything painted with phospuresent paint. The haunt supplies 3D glasses that make everything that is painted on the walls appear to be floating in space. This is an awesome, yet unsettling effect. \r The Haunted Hotel is also the only haunt, that I've found, in northern Indiana that is a 4D attraction. This means not only do you see, but you also smell. Some smells I noticed while traveling through the haunt were pleasant like cotton candy and popcorn. Others, well, I'll let you find out for yourself.\r Overall, I've found this haunt to be better than haunts in the surrounding areas (Fort Wayne, Columbia City, etc) and that 9 dollars for regular admission is a small price to pay for the great fun you'll experience. It was also extremely interesting to know that a group had driven from Iowa two nights in a row to attend the haunt because they enjoyed it so much. I recommend taking their advise.\r \r Pros: acting, atmosphere Cons: parking more
