I just came back from my third trip to Biloxi, MS. On passed occasions, my husband and I ate at the casino restaurant. Since this was our third trip, I was SO OVER the high priced casino food.
Most seafood places fall into a trap of trying to be cheap and deep frying EVERYTHING! The food lacks flavor and dimension. I have learned that you can really predict the quality of a restaurant's food by taking a look at the menu and measuring the ratio of fried to broiled dishes.
This time, I researched restaurants in the area before our trip. Most restaurants fell into the cheap fried seafood category ... and alarmingly, many shipped food from Taiwan. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?? Many others were five star and out of my price range.
This was the only restaurant in Biloxi that had reasonably priced local seafood whose menu was prepared with care and creativity. So ... I decided we would try them out.
Sit upstairs if you have a choice. The atmosphere is Sophisticated Casual with a ""bar"" twist ... with New Orleans decor. The ground floor could use a flooring remodel, but aside from that is expertly decorated.
The first day, we were seated immediately and treated very well.
I had a Shrimp Po-Boy and my husband had the ""limited time offer"" Lobster Quesadillia and seafood gumbo.
OMG! The flavor was AMAZING. Even though the Po-Boy is fried (as it should be) they didn't rob the shrimp of any flavor, and you could tell that they were FRESH! The lime sauce served with my husband's dish was TO DIE for! BTW, my broccoli was cooked perfectly. Obviously, this restaurant loves food and employs some AMAZING chefs. We got out for about $35.
THE FOOD WAS SOOOO GOOD, WE WENT BACK THE NEXT DAY!
On day two, we drug some family members that joined us in Biloxi to this restaurant. We came around 3pm and were seated upstairs.
The food was worth the wait .... but unfortunately, the service wasn't nearly as good the second day. We waited a long time before being served and waited forever before our food came. BUT IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT!
This time I had the Red's (Giant Shrimp), members of our party got Rubens, the Uptowner, and stuffed mushrooms. EVERY DISH WAS AMAZING!
Other dishes on the menu went as high as $30, but others were around $9-$13. So you could spend as little or as much as you felt comfortable spending.
I will hit this restaurant EVERY time we go to Biloxi.
