This was so bad I felt I had to warn people not to waste their money 6/22/2008

I don't usually bother reviewing restaurants. Personal taste is just that, personal. But there are instances where the quality of the food is just so bad that I feel it's my responsibility not only to warn people to dine at their own risk as well as give the restaurant itself a "heads-up" and a chance to improve their business in order to compete. I just had the very worst Mexican meal I've had in a long time. How can any Mexican restaurant worth their salt completely ruin Huevos Rancheros?! Hard cooked fried eggs, no cheese, a huge flavorless pile of uniformly pale colored Spanish rice and I actually had to ask for corn tortillas and beans otherwise there would have been none at all on the plate. And when I asked for a side of sour cream I received something that was the consistency of frosting. I was so disappointed. It was like eating cardboard and if I wasn't so hungry and if it wasn't so apparent based on the look of my meal partner's dish (a barely distinguishable enchillada) that this was the best they could do I would've sent it back to the kitchen. Instead I'm leaving this review. On a better note, the service was well-intentioned even if they had no timing skills. It would've been apparent that the food was sub-par if they'd cared or even been more observant. Maybe someday management will improve this place. And unless they do, one can only hope they go out of business and allow a more industrious and authentic restaurant to take their prime spot alongside the American River. more

A must when visiting 5/31/2006

We visit my family once a year and it's a MUST to go to the Hacienda at least once for the chimis and the fajitas. Their margaritas are made out of sherbet and are addictingly good. The only thing I could do without is their tortilla soup. I love tortilla soup, but theirs is just a little too blah for me. But other then that, service is good, food is great, the view is awesome. more

hacienda Restaurant 11/17/2005

Good place to go for the view of old Folsom. most people love eating in the balcony and i higly recommend it. Good food. don't forget to try their GRANDE margaritas on the rocks! The bartenders are awesom and the servers are great. No bad experiences yet. I believe there is happy hour, don't want to forget that! more

Good food and fun in Old Folsom 9/18/2005

Hacienda offers excellent patio dining in the summer months, live bands on weekends, festive bar, and pretty good food. The menu is expansive. Our favorites are the enchiladas and fajitas. Fajitas offer a lot more veggies than most other mexican restaurants -- making more a colorful presentation and a more flavorful meal. Good chips and salsa too! Service tends to be one extreme or the other -- either very good or non-existent. Parking in Old Folsom can be challenging, but there is generally open spots down the street near the old railcars. more

Great Place 8/21/2005

Hacienda Del Rio is a great and fun restaraunt. The food is tasty and they have the best margaritas in town. But what makes this place is the atmosphere. It is fun and inviting. You can sit on the balcony and watch the people mingle around Sutter St in Folsom or you can sit inside and listen to the mexican music. And on Monday nights, they have Monday Night Football on TV's throughout the resteraunt. Be warned, this is not a quite restaraunt, so if that's what you want, go elsewhere, but if you're looking to have a good time, this is it. more
