So I walk into an empty Gulliver's Travel Office in the Oak Court Mall in Memphis, Tn and no one acknowledges me until I walk up the desk immediately by the front door. Keep in mind they were conversating heavily as I was approaching. She asked me how can I help you in her I just got through running voice. I said I need to talk about travels plans to Florida. She asked one of her senior travel agents if she was busy. I say senior because everyone in there was well over the age of 50 so my expectations of customer service on a level of 1 to 10 should be at least a 9. She immediately said yes. So a brief pause occured and finally someone said how can I help you. I told her I wanted to see your best rate on a travel plan to Florida. She said where. I said Florida and maybe Myrtle Beach too. She rolled her eyes and then said where its so many places in Florida to go to . I said I am looking at Orlando for four people and to Universal Studios Theme park. I have been looking all day. i have found some ads on Expedia and Travelocity in the range of $299-$450 pp that included flight, hotel, and car. She says well where you want to stay. I said just give me some options on to choose from for the best price. She was gesturing and sighing saying I mean where a condo, hotel or what. I said so are you going continue being rude to me today or what. She says well I am asking these questions cause you don't know what you want. I said that's why I came here to find out what's available. So she said well I am just going to pick the Double Tree across from the entrance to Universal Studios. She asked if I wanted a car. I said I wanted to see options with the car preferrably a mid-size suv maybe a Ford Escape and options without a car. She rambled all these prices added up to about $2,400.00. The kicker was that she was like the airplane itself is $343(ish)pp you won't find anything less than that and they go up by the day (if only you could hear the frustration and attitude in the voice), and the theme park tickets for 3 days is $150.00pp (nice), and you are not going to find anything less than $2,400.00for this trip. So the kicker. I never told her my price range, she never once asked did you want to buy (yelp was ready to purchase cause I was super tired of researching deals), and she never asked my name. Needless to say when I left I didn't get a good-bye or thanks for coming. So the level of service and customer profiling from Gulliver's was not necessary. I am a tall slender African American model who has been all over Milan, Paris, and Hong Kong and for me to have dealt with all types of travel agencies by far this is the worst. Especially when everyone in this agency is over 50, seasoned, and all white. Very interesting. I believe the website was much nicer to me. OAN: I apologize for the spelling and grammer but sooooo upset right now. more
