Good food, good atmosphere 5/26/2010

The food was just as good as other nicer greek restaurants, the atmosphere was great, and the servers were very friendly. more

Had a fabulous time! 1/4/2010

We went for an early New Years eve dinner and wanted a place that was festive. The food was superb.. everyone in our group had a different meal item and we each raved about the food. I was a bit concerned about the service because of some other reviews but the service was excellent. The music was wonderful, the staff and the customers all got up and danced together. It was the best time ever for very reasonable prices and I love this place! Pros: wonderful food, great service, with a fun atmosphere Cons: music played continuously so conversation was difficult more

Tasty Food, Lively, Bit Overpriced 7/18/2009

Could use a lighter touch with the lards and oils. Authentic Greek is usually not that rich. Prices are up there, but the place is lively and I loved the galaktobouriko dessert and Greek Coffee. Pros: plenty of food Cons: expensive, fatty recipes more

The worst experience 3/8/2009

This is the shadiest, most corrupt restaurant I've ever been to. We picked this restaurant because we wanted something different for our birthday party. It seemed appealing because it provided greek cuisine and dancing. We weren't worried about driving elsewhere. The staff ensured to get my guests drunk and then completely overcharged us with drinks. We were a big group, and the staff conveniently charged us for 8 addtional shots and claimed our guest who had just left had consumed it. Our trustworthy friend confirmed he had not had 8 shots.. The food and the environment was nice, but the ultimate experience was awful. My sister and I had to cough up over two hundred dollars to cover the discrepancy in our accounting and theirs. The owner/manager was incredibly rude and dishonest. I will never go here again, and save yourself the trouble of being ripped off. more

Good food, fun atmosphere, expensive prices 8/27/2008

The food here is good, yummy and a lot of choices. Also, sometimes in the evenenings, there is music and people start dancing traditional Greek dancing, which is really fun. However, I think the prices are a little steep! more

Great atmosphere, AMAZING food 2/5/2008

Had a gyro for lunch (i know, not too original) and it was incredible. Someone in the group I was in ordered the mousakka, which was also awesome. Overall, great place, really cool atmosphere Pros: Food, Ambience Cons: Parking more

Terrible Customer Service 12/19/2007

I called the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon and said, ""Hello, I'd like to make a reservation."" Before I could state the date or time, a male voice informed me, ""We are full tonight"" and hung up on me! I have never dined at this restaurant before, nor do I ever want to try again. more

My Top 3 Fish Dishes EVER - ( see my reviews for 2 others ) 12/6/2007

The food here is off the hook, and it's open all day (unlike most Valley joints, which close after lunch)... I'm addicted to their chicken lemon soup and the FISH! My favorite: grilled swordfish bathed in tomato-caper sauce. It never disappoints, even my picky husband can't complain that it's ""too dry."" Perfectly crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. And it's a generous portion, I always take half home to enjoy for lunch the next day... Pros: YUM! Open all day Cons: Can get busy on weekend evenings more

Horrible Customer Service 9/30/2007

I had made reservations two days in advance for 2 people on Saturday night. I called the great greek to ask them for their cross street and to tell them I would be a couple minutes late (we got lost). They then asked for my name and said that they didn't have a reservation under my name. They had a reservation under a different name which sounds like my name and I told him oh they probably misunderstood. But the person I spoke with was so rude and told me there was nothing I could do. A good restaurant starts with good customer service and this host was so rude to me even though I DID have a reservation. They should have tried to fit me in or accommodate me some how.....anyways ill never go here again. If you are looking for another GOOD Greek restaurant try Le Petit Greek. They keep their reservations! more

no way this is a 9.9 restaurant - my worst service experience in los angeles! 3/11/2007

sunday night 8pm. we enter a lively greek restaurant, with a birthdayparty going on. 40 minutes later we finally receive our drinks - water - and eventually the food comes out as well. my husband ordered the chicken athenia, which turned out to be pretty good and i had the combination greek platter (moussaka, stuffed grape leaf, lamb, pastitsio) which was just as good as any greek restaurant can offer, i think nothing special though. we didn't see a busboy at our table at all, our waiter came by three times. to get the order, to bring the food and to get his money. our waiter gave full attention to the girls sitting next to our table who didn't receive their food fast enough. he was complaining about the kitchen staff to them or just trying to get their phone numbers...who knows... more

Great Greek = Great Experience 2/7/2007

Years ago I remember meeting groups of friends there and having a blast - eating the feast (great value) and enjoying the music. It was such a lively place. more

The Great Greek is Great! 1/28/2007

I enjoyed myself at this restaurant that serves tasty food and entertains with live music and dancing. We were a large table of 20 there to celebrate my cousin's birthday. Surprisingly, there was an equally large party behind us, also there for a birthday. In fact, there were a lot of birthdays that evening. There was a general air of festivity and graciousness that made us feel at home. The food was served family style and I was impressed with the flavors. My favorites are the light and airy dolmati, served warm with a delicate sauce and the chewy, warm pitas for dipping into hummus, melitzanosalata and creamy tzatziki. The portions are ample and the service is polite and attentive. Pros: delicious food, warm, friend atmosphere and live music. Cons: loud, not good for intimacy more

Great food, great atmosphere 12/26/2006

A large group, ages ranging from 6 to late 70s went on a Saturday night. Our waiter suggested a preset menu which including hummus, tzatziki, greek salad, lamb, etc, and everything was amazing!! The musicians were great, the staff danced with the customers, and everyone was happy. Pros: Great food, music and entertainment Cons: Loud more

A reason to drive 50 miles from South OC 12/18/2006

I love this place. Any time I visit Sherman Oaks I ""make"" my host take me here. It's usually very loud when the band gets going but you get used to it. The place gets cramped but it's all part of the atmosphere. Have a good cocktail and yell across your table. more

Great Taste, Great Fun 11/26/2006

My boyfriend was looking for a good Greek restaurant in L. A. since he's from Chicago. The food was great and the place was fun. The service was good. Be sure to order the flaming cheese. If you want to listen to the music and hear the waiters sing, plan to be there after 7 pm. However, that also means it will be crowded. He said it was the kind of place he's been looking for and we plan to go back. We were able to get street parking north of Ventura. Pros: Great atmosphere Cons: Valet parking more

Opaa! 11/20/2006

This place has the energy of Greece! The food is great - get the platter to experience a touch of everything. The Chicago pita bread is the best I've ever tasted. I went on a Sunday and there was live music with women Greek dancing. The place is big, but can fill-up pretty quickly. more
