Try somewhere else! I had half of my tongue numb for over 6 months after having a crown worked on. The woman dentist that did the work, (like so many) came and went from Grand Dental. I have had more than one crown manufactured on site by Grand Dental crack and need to be reworked. More over, the art of deception extends beyond the magic act and into the practice itself. I talked to them more than once about the mysterious way they process their billing. Upon my last visit for a tooth cleaning it was recomended that I get routine X-rays. I explained that my insurance no longer covered this and asked for a price. I was told $160. As I went to the front desk they were very clear to point out that I was no longer insured as if I was pulling something even after I had told them that up front then charged me $164! I then paid the agreed upon price only to receive another bill in the mail a month later for an additional $95 dollars. Even though I brought flyers from neighboring competitors indicating I was being over charged, Grand Dental insisted their continued service fee was valid, so I will no longer allow them to provide my care. They have made it abundantly clear that the $95 is more important than my continued patronage and obviously feel that the $95 is more important than the advertising campaign that now comes with it. It appears that the art of illusion seems to be easier to conceal with insurance, but in the light of day their is little or no concern for the patients what so ever. I recently had an extremely positive experience with a family dental practice that I would like to share with other families in the Oak Park/River Forest/Forest Park/Riverside area. Grand Dental Associates, is in Franklin Park, a short 20 minute drive from our house. They have ample parking and the staff of dentists and hygienists are amazing - extremely friendly, great with kids, professional and service minded - their goal is to get you in the chair within 10 minutes of your appointment. This dental office is full service - they offer general dentistry, restorative dentistry and cosmetic dentistry. As a mom of a five year old, it's great that they also offer orthodontics for when my child will be at that stage. I brought my five year old daughter to the office for her regular 6 month check up. She received a ton of attention, goodies, and had such a great experience that she keeps asking when she can go back. The hygienist she had, Mallory Hagel, was the most enthusiastic, knowledgeable and kid focused professional we have ever come across. I have had dental cleaning and major dental work (2 crowns) done. My dentist, Dr. Steve Napier was exceptional in technique and the process was pain free. The staff really go the extra mile to make the practice personal and family oriented. I also like that they communicate by email and telephone to remind me about my appointments. I have referred 7 people to this practice since I started using Grand Dental Associates in October - that alone says it all. Pros: Gentle, caring, professional, modern office, efficient staff more

I started my son on braces on Sept of 2006. Since the beginning I have had scheduling problems. When I first started the treatment I informed the orthodontist that I did not like my son being out of school and that we might have scheduling problems. He informed me that they had evenings and would work with me. On two occasions he has cancelled my son?s appointment at the last minute. Leaving me with no alternative then to delay his treatment or take my son out of school to attend the Orthodontist. This is not counting the times my son has had to take morning schedules because evenings have all be taken. The orthodontist is only in on Fridays and leaves at exactly 4:50 PM no exceptions... This schedule is a title shy of being accommodating. I was told that my son?s treatment would take about 2 years. I am a year and a half into this process and it thing he still has one year and a half more to go. The fact that he is only in on Fridays and leaves at 4:50pm is the main cause for this long delay in my son?s treatment. \r In one occasion we were late to our appointment. On this occasion I called to inform the orthodontist that I was running late do to a fire in the street and that the police had closed of several streets and asked if the orthodontist could please wait for us a couple of minutes. The appointment was at 4:30 I arrived at 4:50 at which time I was informed by the receptionist the Orthodontist had left. I have asked to be transferred to another orthodontist and have been told it is not possible. Once an orthodontist starts a treatment it needs to continue until it finishes. I would look around at other orthodontist before I would choose Gruendman Gary. \r more
