My Dad was ill for some time and we knew that his time would come sooner than later. When that time came, we weren't ready. The emotions were overwhelming. \r
\r
After private time with immediate family and two very dear friends, the hospital asked, ""what funeral home would you like us to contact?"". We had never talked about it as a family but one name immediately came to mind, Gramer Funeral Home. We had attended visitations and funerals there many times. The families always said, ""what a great job the Gramer family and the staff did"". The funeral home and the Gramer family have been a part of the Clawson community for many years. In our minds, this was the obvious choice.\r
\r
That day was such a blur. We returned home, still stunned and understandably emotional. Brooke contacted us within a few hours. She offered her sincere condolences and asked if there was anything she could do. She set up a time for us to visit the next day to plan the arrangements.\r
\r
The next day arrived and we drove the short distance to the funeral home. We were greeted by Paul Gramer. Immediately, he made us feel very comfortable. He thoroughly explained everything that needed to be done. He took his time and answered all of our questions. For various reasons, my Dad's visitation and funeral would not be until later in the week. I spoke with Paul or someone on his staff every day. It may have been a question about this or that but the call always ended with that question, is there anything we can do?\r
\r
The day of the visitation was there before we knew it. Upon our arrival at the funeral home, Paul and a number of staff greeted us. They stood by us as we saw my Dad for the first time since his passing. He looked wonderful! You know how people say, he looks like he's asleep? Dad truly looked this way. The staff did a wonderful job preparing him. The time went by so quickly that day and evening. Paul and staff were just around the corner if we needed anything.\r
\r
The day of the funeral came. Again, Paul met us at the door and didn't leave us until everything at the cemetery was completed.\r
\r
When all was done, I received a few calls just to see how things were going. I sat back and realized that we were not treated like a customer, they treated us like family. I thought about what the other families had said. Gramer Funeral Home and staff did not do a great job, they did an OUTSTANDING job. The care, support, thoughtfulness, professionalism and compassion we received could not have been any better.\r
\r
Thank you to Paul, Brooke and Howard and the others that I forgot or never met! You made us feel like we were part of your family and you will always be part of ours.\r
\r
I highly recommend Gramer Funeral Home! Ken C.
