Feel-good food worth the wait 3/27/2011

We had a reservation on a Saturday night but still had to wait 20 min to be seated- it was a little hectic, quite a few people were repeatedly asking when they'd be seated. But to their defense, it was a Saturday night and they just had a party of 22 come in. We finally got seated and the waitress was awesome. Very friendly, very energetic, and even memorized our orders without writing them down (a rare finding these days). Food was delicious: veggie pizza as an app, then I had the Good Earth burger. Bison meat, carmelized onions, mushrooms, fancy cheese, even avocado on a whole-wheat bun! Despite being a cheeseburger, it didn't weigh me down or make me feel like I'd have to run 10 miles to keep it off my hips. Nope, I felt like I had a guilty splurge without the guilt! For dessert was the bailey's chocolate torte. Ok, this was a bit of a guilty pleasure, but so very tasty! They also gave me a piece of their signature carrot cake to take home for my birthday. Prices are reasonable- the whole menu is online I look forward to going here again! Feel good about what you eat! more

would not eat at 2/25/2011

I would not go to this restaurant because I am a diabetic and they do not provide nutrition information.I eat organic and all natural but even organic food can be bad for a diabetic depending on how it is prepared. I contacted the company headquarters and it took a week for a response,a voicemail, that didn't answer whether they had nutrition info or not.The person said to call her back, which I did,but she didn't respond again within three days so I called back and said forget it. Their customer service is the worst I have ever encountered. If you are a diabetic or need nutrition info due to a medical condition don't go to this restaurant, they don't care enough to provide it. more

""My Place""!! 11/19/2010

This is my favorite go-to restaurant! I've been going there for years and have always had great experiences! Start with the wonderful tea (or just go there for the tea)! Its wonderful and I buy it by pound to take home, but it just seems to taste better at the restaurant! Food is awesome and they will cater to any particular foods that you need! I've lost 250 pounds by eating healthy and The Good Earth is on my list of legal restaurants to go to! Friendly servers and a great atmosphere and a large menu combine for a great dining experience! Enjoy it often!! more

Found different colored hair in both food dishes 1/1/2010

Yesterday I went to The Good Earth and ordered the Mediterranean Plate and the chicken skewers. The Mediterranean plate had a blonde hair in the spread. I pushed it aside and ate one of the chicken skewers. When I picked up the second skewer there was a black hair on it. My friend was barely able to get his burger down. They did take care of the bill and apologize, but did nothing to try and get us back for another visit. My first and last time there. Pros: great tea Cons: hair in food more

Tried and True 10/31/2009

Good Earth has been going strong for over 25 years. I never tire of the amazing tea, the wonderful natural foods, great desserts and good service. The ambience has only gotten better over the years, as decor has changed with the times and been updated. Servers are pleasant, management warm and friendly. I went when my kids were little, and now both my boys work there, one serving and one hosting. It appeals to both young and old and us inbetweeners. Here's to another 25 years! Pros: Fabulous Food Cons: Have yet to find one more

Culinary Zen? 6/28/2009

This place is kind of cut-and-dry. Seems like this sort of restaurant attracts snobs and weirdos. Both times I've gone, the servers had clearly done too much acid in their day. Food is good and so are the juices. I like the Vegamary, even though the name could be 1000 times more creative. I like this place but I wish it weren't so pretentious and commercialized. Pros: Natural Foods (So I've been told), Tastiness Cons: Service is mediocre, Feels like a Country Kitchen more

Terrible service/understaffed/poor execution 5/26/2009

Dirty cups/forks. Forgetful server who should go back to working at Perkin's. Orders came out wrong. Not impressed at all the eagan location is much much better more

BEST RESTAURANT EVER!!!! 8/1/2008

I love this place! I have tried numerous dishes and quite a few desserts and all have not been wrong. The Chicken Satay is wonderful and my husband craves their nachos and begs to go. Breakfast is wonderful as well and is a family favorite for Mother's Day! We are very healthy and eat most organic and natural food and this is the only restaurant I will eat at. I have been there at least 20 times and never had a bad experience either service or food. The Strawberry Shortcake when on the menu is some of the best I have ever had! more

Perkins for want a bee healthy suburban fatsos. 7/17/2008

Heard about this place decided to give it a shot.Hmm the ambience is like an old bakers square or perkins style. So i was kinda thrown off. So I tried the Organic Oj and wheat grass. My Friend had the protien smoothie. The meals, I had the thai spicy chicken noodles, and my friend had the bison burger. So over all the meals where kinda not worth the price. So for health wise it's ok, The clientel is fat and old people. The service was good, but food is very average. kinda like a big bowl organic ripoff style. Not worth a revisit. Pros: Great service waiter rocked. Cons: Terrible ambience over priced bland food more

BAD Service, but great food. 6/9/2008

This was difficult, because I absolutely loved the menu, and the food was really good. I had the Harvest Wrap, which was phenomenal, and my fiance had the turkey meatloaf.\r \r However, like other users, we were incredibly disappointed with the service. My drink sat empty almost the entire meal. We never saw our waitress after we ordered our food (another server gave us our food) and then I had to hunt someone down to pay for the bill. (This was AFTER waiting 20 minutes for her to come)\r \r I will also probably stick to the take out option, rather than dining there again, just because I loved the food so much.\r Pros: Great food Cons: Terrible, slow service more

Much Better Than Some of These Reviews Make it Sound 5/12/2008

I am a long-term patron of Good Earth. I have gone here for well over 15 years, often having business meetings over breakfast or lunch. I also go with family for dinners on a regular basis - both small groups and large groups. This is a place you can come and find healthier treatments of standard fare, food that tastes good and won't haunt you later. The beer and wine menu is not meant to be high-end, just a nice complement to the food. Fairly priced, good value reliable healthy theme, nice deck when it's warm. The service here is usually good, but you shouldn't come if you're in a rush. There can be a line. The long-standing rule is to call when you're en-route and they will put your name on the list. \r \r So - Single bad service experiences aside, this place is on our top 5 list of reliable, healthy family restaurants in the area. Many of these reviews are way too harsh and do not line up with my experience. more

Service poor, food great 5/5/2008

I went with my friend recently on a Monday afternoon. Our server was friendly but extremely unprofessional. When we each ordered a glass of wine, she asked to see our ID's. We are both college students so it was not a suprise to us until she told us she couldn't serve us! She did not know how to read ID's and had to check with her manager. Furthermore, she did not know anything about the wines when we asked her opinion on what to order. She then proceeded to bring out two separate entrees after we explained we were going to split one. We had to ask another server to bring our check, and after she dropped it off she came back to pick it up before I was even done counting my cash. \r The food was great (thai chicken wrap and greek salad platter), wine was mediocre, service horrible. I'm ordering takeout next time. Pros: Nice outside patio Cons: Servers horrible more

A fine place to dine... 11/17/2007

As a patron of the Good Earth for many years, I would like to express my satisfaction regarding one of my favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities. The Good Earth offers a leisurely atmosphere and an attentive staff ready to accommodate your needs. From Thai noodles to planet burgers to edamame, The Good Earth truly provides a variety of palatable choices. The best part is that whether it be a glass of milk, fresh field greens or free range chicken, you can always be ensured organic fresh quality. My personal favorite is their almond tuna melt sandwich; a hearty slice of whole grain toast topped with tasty tuna salad, mozzarella cheese, pickles, and toasted almonds makes a delicious complement. With convenient thirty minute call ahead seating, and an efficient host staff, one need not wait long to obtain seating. I highly recommend this restaurant. Pros: Efficiency, nutrition, friendly atmosphere more

Worst restaurant experience ever! 11/11/2007

Most unpleasant experience of any restaurant visit ever! Immediately upon being seated with three of my friends right next to the kitchen doorway a nice booth nearby was vacated. I asked the waitress if we could move to it and we were told that we could not because it was not our turn to be seated! Unbelievable!! The food was OK --- the service was OK --- some of my friends enjoyed it, I was less impressed. The final insult was when the waitress told us that we could not pay with other than a credit card or a check unless we could give her the exact amount of the invoice. What was her problem, unable to make change??? I will NOT return! Pros: Food OK Cons: Waitress unfriendly and unhelpful. Unpleasant to be there. more

Might I suggest some mood stabilizers... 11/9/2007

This restaurant has been foundering for a few years. There was some problem with the kitchen help and quality of food a few years ago. But now it seems that the waitstaff is under some duress to put on a very happy face and is getting it all wrong.\r \r I have experienced everything from waitresses so hysterically happy and seeming to be on something to the boiling anger of a skinny waiter who made me wonder if he was going to ""do something"" to my food tonight. \r \r It ""seems"" to be a good restaurant, but I won't be back ever again. I have the feeling that the management is doing something very wrong here. Pros: Healthy food Cons: waitstaff coming to a slow boil more

Ambience is struggling 8/11/2007

We've visited that Good Earth in the Galleria many times, and really enjoy the environment & decor, so we expected the same for Roseville. Which isn't the case. It appears that this location was renovated from a previous Denny's (or something similar), and poorly at that. We were lucky because it was warm, so we sat outside, which was much more pleasant, quiet, and relaxing. The food was good, the heirloom tomatoes are in season right now, so we had one of their pizzas that was on the specials menu, the artichoke dip was just ok, the salmon cake was overcooked but good, and the spa pasta was delightful. Service was good and accommodating. Pros: Healthy food Cons: Bad ambience more

avoid the lemon cake 4/1/2007

I went with my boyfriend and we were seated quickly and our server paid the right amount of attention to us. Being vegetarian, I was expecting a place like this to have more vegetarian choice. I ordered a grilled veggie sandwich and my boyfriend ordered a thai noodle dish- both were good- but not phenomenal. We ordered lemon cake for desert, it was slightly disappointing- not enough lemon taste for me. Overall, it's worth a try and I would be willing to go back to try other things. more
