after reading a few reviews, i booked for the recommended person to thread my face. when i arrived, that person wasn't available, and they shooed me into someone else's chair WITHOUT telling me. not having been there before, i had no clue that this wasn't who i'd booked with. the front counter overcharged me because on record i was booked w/ that person, who charges more. that is not the end of the story. i returned a couple more times, thinking the same thing, and it was only the third time that i actually got the person i booked w/...i was confused but let her do her thing. when i got to the counter to pay, they'd raised prices, and i tried to explain what had happened. the salonist just looked at me blankly and waited for me to hand over my credit card. the whole experience annoyed and angered me, i was basically lied to, and in the end, this place is just not worth the high prices they charge. the threading was average, and i go to another place now. I'm confused! Every bad review I've read makes me wonder what spa these people really went to because they certainly did not go to Genesia Day Spa in Sugar Land!! I've been to a LOT of spas in the area and Genesis by far tops them all. They are all very professional and have strived to learn all they can about the services they are preforming. I wait at restaurants and I wait at the doctor's office, so why make a big deal about waiting to get the best eyebrows in town? I have been visiting Genesis for 3 years now and absolutely love it! They are nice, attentive and do an excellent job from my eyebrows, facials to my nail care. The price is very reasonable for the excellent service. The price went up barely after 4 years while other places started raising prices like crazy every year. Seriously, does fast food, the mall and gas places alert you at all if they raise their prices?? Pros: seriously best people and service in town! Cons: why doesn't sonnie have a twin?! more

I find that a lot of the reviews that have been written may be from those that are more concerned with price rather than qualityor are based on their personal feelings as to what they feel they should pay. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. As far as the staff and the owner, they have consistently been courteous for as long as I can remember. I would much rather pay a little more rather than go to one of the truly ""indian"" salons, where the quality is poor to match the prices. For those of you out there that are looking for a spa where they care about outcomes and take care of your skin rather than rushing to get to the next client, this is a place that you should truly visit. I used to get facials from this lady ""Cora"" who was great, but she left, and I can't find her. Since then, I returned once and was not greeted well, actually she was a bit rude. I got there about 40 minutes early because I needed to just sit and chill. The lady in the front was rude and asked me if I knew I was an hour early and if I still wanted to wait. WTH? I said yes, and waited for about 10 minutes, but the bad vibe and looks I got from people were uncomfortable so I canceled and left. I will not go back there again! i've gone to genesis for threading for a few years now. i agree with the woman who's review says that the business/owner has gotten incredibly greedy. the past few times, every time i've gone to pay for my threading at the end of the session, the price was $5-10 more than i'd paid the last. i continued going w/o much question or complaint, and continued to tip as if they price were never raised. I tried to like this place. Really, I did. It's close to my home, it's not a great price, it's not easy to book appointments and the massages were horrible. I don't think they ever took me on time, but they sure did finish up 5-10 mins before the hour, so I don't think I ever got more than 50 mins. One guy tortured me, one lady kept telling me what a great job she was doing and how great I was going to feel, while she pulled and poked until I begged her to stop and she had such horrible hand callouses that it actually scratched my back, the owner Sonnie must do something about this place, it is a nasty enviroment to have a massage, the towels were old and the sheets were in bad look. ouch! it really hurts to paid that money there. I've been searching for a good spa and salon around the greater Houston area for about a year now, and I must say that Genesis Day Spa and Salon definitely provided the best results, by far! The facialist- I think her name was Hong- was amazing. She was friendly, conversational (but still professional), efficient (but never shaves off time on the facials), and gave me the best facial I've EVER had! I felt completely relaxed and her awesome knowledge of skin care was evident when she explained what she was doing the whole time. I DEFINITELY recommend her as a skin aesthetician and facialist- this is an experience you DON'T want to miss out on! more

I have been going to Genesis for over 10 years now...back when the owner was practically working out of her house. Over that time, I have seen the owner, Sonnie, go from a humble lady to a cut-throat businesswoman. Let me say that, she does in fact do my eyebrows better than anyone I have ever had do them. However, I don't believe it's worth the hassle of waiting almost an hour to be seen, as well as the rude receptionists, not to mention the highest charge in town for eyebrow threading. I believe that if you are going to charge a ridiculous amount for threading eyebrows, you should at least be courteous enough to stick to your appointment times. There have been times where I have waited and she has let people cut in front of me. And she definitely does not believe in hearing her customers when they have a suggestion. I told her that her receptionists were rude and she said ""You don't have any proof of that, so I don't believe you"". Bottom line is, if you are willing to go through the hassle and the wait, and pay top dollar for sub par service, this is the place to go. Sonnie, you should value the customers that put you in the fancy salon you now own. more

I have come to Genesis before, but on Saturday, I received the best massage I ever had. The therapist, Cyntia, was wonderful. I felt so relaxed and so light in weight that I fell asleep. I have been following this lady everywhere she goes. She is a FANTASTIC massage therapist; She has a firm touch and specializes in deep tissue. Her routine consists of a combination of Swedish and deep tissue, and every muscle gets a workout. You will feel WONDERFUL. Genesis Day Spa is lucky to have her as their new massage therapist. I started going to Genesis around 6 months ago when I heard about their fabulous eyebrow services from other day spas. I have to say that I love Genesis--they fix my eyebrows better than anyone else in town. I never dealt with anyone who didnt speak English because everyone there is always friendly and very helpful. The owner is the most requested person in the salon, so her appointments do require waiting but that doesnt bother me since when I get my turn, she does a wonderful job. In my opinion, the wait is worth getting the best eyebrows/service. I have had my facials and nails done at Genesis also and was pleased with the results. My girlfriends and I have recently started getting Brazilian waxing and even though the area itself is painful, the waxing is quick and the results are superb! I would recommend this salon over any other salon in the area.
