gone 6/16/2009

restaurant is out of business. a new one is coming called ""Sally Stanfords Bar and Grill"" (or something very close to that.) more

NIce view! 5/15/2008

The restaurant is located on the water, you get a nice view! The service staff is friendly and attentative. The menu offers a nice selection of northern Indian cuisine. The food is ok, nothing great though. It may be a good spot for someone that has not been to an Indian restaurant before, but if you know Indian food well you may be a bit disappointed. Typical Indian flavors were missing. Compared to other Indian restaurants in San Francisco this one on the pricy side. more

Priced mainly for the view, average food 3/28/2008

The high price is for the view and not for the food. Excellent view- I had specifically asked for a table with the best view and I did get one. The service was just fine although they might have seemed a bit eager for us to quickly place our orders and be done with it-even though we were a pretty large group. As for the food, the appetizers and drinks were pretty good (chicken and paneer were tender) but the curries were almost exactly the same, like they had just substituted chicken with bell peppers/paneer-it was really disappointing, especially for the price. I can definitely get much better curries less than half the price more

Avoid Valetines 2/15/2008

My husband and I were utterly disappointed with the kind of food Gaylord offered on Valetines day. The place and the ambience as such was good. But it was not worth for the price we paid - $60 per meal. Plus there were not many choices in the menu compared to other equally good Indian restaurants. Service was very poor. plus they did not have deserts as mentioned in their menu. The worst part was that they served rice, 4 curries all in one small dish! Total rip off of money. more

Great place, great views, great location! 11/9/2007

We had our wedding reception at the banquet hall in Gaylord. It was a beautiful setup and the service was also perfect. Our guests enjoyed the event and they were all very impressed with Gaylord, the service and the arrangements, as were we. The staff that catered to our event was excellent. They were very friendly and courteous with our guests, and that made us very comfortable and relaxed to know that our guests were treated well. The decor was simply fabulous - and again, it was done so meticulously and perfectly on time. It completely reduced our stress on the day of the event! The food was simply delicious, as always at Gaylord. It had the perfect spice to bring out the typical Indian flavour, without being hot and spicy. Pros: Excellent food & service with really good views Cons: Expensive more

Expensive, Unsavory Indian, better views can be had 10/18/2007

My husband and I are new to Sausalito and have been diligently trying out all of the restaraunts in our area. We were very excited to try Gaylords as we are natives of Chicago and have had many delicicous Indian meals both in Chicago and in San Francisco. more

Are you kidding me.... 9/24/2007

that's what we asked when the bill arrived. Was there some sort of hidden charge for the view, because the food was certainly not worth $200, heck, it wasn't even worth $20. They'd be better off just changing this into a bar. The food is awful and very expensive. As other reviewers have said, the only reason for a stop here is the view. Pros: view and location Cons: everything else more

Mediocre expensive food and slow service with an icredible view 3/21/2007

The food is not why you should visit this restaurant, neither the service( really slow). Our dinner was overpriced and nothing special. The view of San francisco is what this place is about. Go for a drink before dinner and do yourself a favor go to eat somewhere else. Pros: VIEW AND VIEW ONLY Cons: average food, overpriced, extremely slow and unorganized service more

If you want bad food, slow order taking and fulfillment and generally poor service at high prices go here 3/20/2007

This is definitely one of the worst Gaylords I have eaten at. They think they are doing you a favor serving food. Perhaps its because they feel they have earned brand loyalty ( Gaylord name etc). The manager ( a tall greying man) is the worst with no sense for customer service. For the view fine but for food and quality service a NO-NO. Would rate this well below average. Pros: None other than view Cons: Bad service, bad food, high prices that don't measure up against quality of food served more

Spectacular View Amazing Food! 3/5/2007

We went on a Sunday night at about 7pm and walked in without reservations. We were seated at a great table by the water and enjoyed a truly sensational view throughout our meal. The service was impeccable, the people friendly, and the atmosphere was peacefully, elegantly nice. Pros: Be sure to take a stroll on the waterfront after your fabulous meal! Cons: I have nothing negative to say about this place. more

Not worth another visit 3/3/2007

We agree with other reviewers, we found the food simply NOT GOOD and pricy. The view is wonderful but absolutely not worth another visit. Pros: GREAT VIEW Cons: MEDIOCRE FOOD more

Horrible Food and Worst Customer Service 2/12/2007

We went to this place thinking that the food as usual will be good. To our utter dismay we found the food to be horrible. Usually Gaylord Restaurants have the reputation to serve good food. But this place was a mess. we ordered poori and some veg dishes. They were the worst of their kind. Moreover when we told this to the manager he was showing his attitude as if he is the one who knows about indian food. The food was pricy too. The only thing we liked is the location of the restaurant. You can view the whole SFO downtown across the Bay from that place. But again for that view you don't need to go inside this restaurant and eat the junk food they serve and not to forget about the attitude of the arrogant manager. PLEASE REFRAIN FROM GOING TO THIS RESTAURANT. Pros: Good View Cons: bad food, Horrible Customer service more

Horrible food, Not good for health, Keeps getting burps, Not digestive ingredients,Not fully cooked 1/8/2007

We few of the indian guys visited this place very recently and ordered some pakoras for munching and Vegetarian Thali for lunch. The pakoras are not at all good (just a flour fried in oil). Thali was not at all good in taste and they gave the poori along with thali which is like a leather sheet. Also they gave 3 vegetable currises and basmati rice (completely dried , very hard). One of the curry was not even fully cooked. Please avoid this going to restaurant. Pros: ambience is ok - you can see the water Cons: food is horrible ...Not at all tasty .... very costly ... more

Good quality but overpriced 10/18/2006

I am split on this restaurant. The food is always fresh but I think it can get very overpriced compared to other Indian Restaurants out there. I do love the lunch buffet where you can try a variety of their popular dishes! I still find myself going back and it's a name stay. Cons: expensive more

Perfect! 10/13/2006

My husband and I had lunch here during a recent CA trip (Oct)...we enjoyed perfect customer service, a stunning view and, of course, the food was not the run-of-the-meal fast serve Indian (or any other) cuisine...it was the best Indian food we've ever had! Pros: wonderful experience Cons: none! more

Best location and spicy food in the bay area 6/24/2006

Superb waterfront location, excellent quality, great service and the best tasting Indian food in the Bay area.... highly recommend the Tandoori dishes....ideal for Sunday brunch. Pros: Superb waterfront location with parking, excellent food and service more

Valentine's 2/19/2006

My boyfriend took me to Gaylord for valentines, It was a great romantic date, the place was decorated with candles and rose petals on the tables, service was very good but the view of the Bay and S.F made it more romantic. I received a red rose and chocolates which made it a more special night. I will return again. Pros: Nice view and food, Intimate/affordable, Free parking more

Scrumptious! 6/9/2005

Gaylord India Restaurant was wonderful! We celebrated our daughter's high school graduation, and also treated her friend who also graduated. The ambiance was lovely. The restaurant looks out into the water, and although it was rainy and foggy, it was lovely. The staff was extraordiarily friendly and outgoing. My husband, myself, our daughter and her friend felt very welcomed. The food and service was outstanding. This was evident by the total silence at the table as breads and sauces were passed and shared. The presentation was also fun as the tandori chicken arrived sizzling on the platter. My husband and I really enjoyed the special drink menu. My Margarita was superb! Our daughter, and her friend's drink, Mango Lass was greati They both agreed that lunch was the best part of their graduation day! I highly recommend the Gaylord India Restaurant for a delightful dining experience. Pros: Delicious Food, Great Drinks, Friendly Atmosphere more
