Great service! When I had my camera repaired here, they told me it might take 2 or 3 days. Then I got a call the next day and it was fixed! My camera works better than new! They have a magic elf for a repair man! Thank you Garland Camera!!!! more

Garland Camera and Repair- A Great Place 12/30/2012

This place is amazing! I got my Pentax MX repaired here and they put ALL their effort into my camera! They tweaked with the parts and stuff and they dug through their backroom trying to find the advance lever for it. The guys there were passionate about their job and they had good teamwork. These guys seriously got a new customer for life! I hope to see them again! more

Rude Family Owned Company 5/23/2012

I called first to make sure i wont be wasting my time by going up there. If you are trying to sell a vintage camera... DO NOT GO HERE!! they were rude and told me to go home and use ebay. Apparently even to a vintage camera shop owner, 35 mm film makes it obsolete and worthless. Not informational. Ebay said my case alone was worth 50.. Pros: null Cons: null more

Old School American Quality 3/12/2012

I have used them since the early 1970s. They have always done good work on my Hasselblad and other fine German lenses. They are now the only shop in DFW that does work on real cameras. They just installed a shutter on two of my 1937 vintage German Contax II cameras. No one else in Dallas could touch such a job. Remember if you have junk to repair you will still get junk back--regardless of who does the work. If you have quality items to repair this is the shop to use if you want it done right. Pros: null Cons: null more

They don't care. 6/30/2011

My camera was damaged in my luggage on a recent international flight. Lucky for me, I have insurance that covers the damage. A few minutes ago I went to Garland Camera to get an estimate for the insurance company. I was just about to tell them how I look forward to doing business locally (they're just down the street from me) and in addition to the repair on my existing camera I was thinking about buying new SLR camera in the near future. I was hoping to get some good advice from local experts. more

Garland Camera & Repair Shop 7/22/2010

I accidently deleted some pictures from a memory card, and once the pain of having to tell everyone that was involved with the pictures subsided, I started to look for a way to get the pictures back. In truth, I don't know hardly s#%t about recovering deleted pictures. So I searched on the internet and learned that it could be done but I was going to be forced to jump thru a few hoops and other things that I didn't want to do. I asked a few techie friends who offered their services but they didn't have any experience in this task either. After a bit it dawned on me that maybe a camera shop might be able to help me. That brought me to Garland Camera & Repair Shop. The website that City Search showed me had a few reviews. Some bad and some good. But I thought it was better than buying a 2 bedroom doghouse, so I took my chances with them. Pros: Fast and Friendly Cons: Previous Bad Reviews more

Will NEVER EVER go back! 4/14/2010

READ EVERYONE'S REVIEWS\r \r PAY ATTENTION TO THESE REVIEWS\r \r There is a reason why Garland Camera and Repair is rated so poorly.\r \r I took a risk and ignored these reviews. After having them attempt to correct a front-focusing issues, I'm out of $100 and will be sending my lens back to the manufacturer for them to correctly repair my lens.\r \r I believe I worked with the shop owner, I don't know since no one bothered to introduce themselves.\r \r After proving to him that they did not repair the focusing issue, he attempted to confuse me with random camera jargon and lingo assuming I didn't know anything about cameras. We spent almost 30 minutes discussing my issues with my lens while he would try to point out that I have unrealistic expectations of my camera lens.\r \r Apparently wanting the lens to focus CORRECTLY is UNREASONABLE.\r \r It's unfortunate that they would not even admit they could not fix the problem, it just goes to show how prideful and stubborn they are.\r \r I will NE more

Worst customer service BEWAre 2/27/2007

Gave them a camera to send to the factory for repair. Camera was returned missing two parts a lense cap and a remote jack cap. Cost of replacement parts was around 14-20 dollars. At first they said the'd replace the parts. When we went to pick them up the owner/manager who has no customer service and little business skill refused to give us the parts. She called us a liar when we again explained the parts were there when we dropped the unit off, then she complained that the parts were costing her money. When another employee backed our story she still refused to give us the parts. Eventually she gave the parts but but only after making us feel like we were trying to rip her off. When the owner of a business is more concerned about saving a few bucks instead of doing right by her customers then BEWARE. They should be responsible for replacing parts lost or not returned from the factory. If they loose money thats between them and the factory. Please beware no matter how good their repair people are if they owner/manager thinks like this your taking a big risk in buying anything here if you have to have it serviced later. If you just need something serviced look elsewhere. Pros: Good Repair Folks Cons: Bad management/owner at first refused to replace lost parts, tried to make us pay for parts lost at factory more

Beware 2/23/2007

DO a good job inventoring your camera. Mine came back from Minolta fixed but missing several pieces like lense caps and covers. GC&R did nothing, admitted parts were missing or lost but nothing but excuses and run arounds every time we called. Said they called several times but caller ID says different. No one wants to take responsibility. Would use them mayby but I'd take all the covers, lids, caps, batteries, memory off. Probably Minoltas fault it was lost but GC&R should have made it right and dealt with Minolta better. more

Uncommonly Helpful 1/20/2007

I received a Nikon camera for Christmas and it just started randomly turning itself on and off. Because I had heard such good things about the store, I took my camera to the folks at Garland Camera and Repair. They were so helpful, completely explained how the camera would be serviced and before you know it, the camera was repaired. \r They went out of their way to make this experience both informative and painless. I would never buy anything anywhere else. This is they type of service that has become far too rare.\r I have compared their prices to the big box retailers and found them to be competitive and sometimes better. All my questions were answered and they went out of their way to make sure that I was satisfied. What a wonderful jewel of a store. more

Absolutly Horrible Service! 1/18/2007

Unlike the other reviews here, which I guess are done in hopes of making money by filling out reviews, which is obvious by the content of the reviews, mine is real and recent. \r \r After taking my Canon DSLR in for a minor cleaning of the view finder, to my surprise, the few specks I had on it multiplied by 10!\r \r After noticing that, I removed my lens and noticed a large finger print on my mirror. That was the second strike. The mean nasty little old lady (owners wife) told me that her tech did the best he could, and would have him look at it again. I told her if that was the best he could do, I would have to pass on a second attempt. \r \r I tried to collect my camera and leave, and she held it hostage. Would not give it back to me until I paid 45 dollars for the mess they made. - Strike 3 !\r \r Moral of the story; Do not take your camera to Garland Repair! more

Wonderful Service 1/18/2007

Usually I do not write reviews BUT with this service I had tonight with them, I had to write. Pros: Lots of accessories, bags and the old camera atmosphere Cons: The traffic on 635 - really nothing wrong with them at all. more

The Worst Service Ever! 1/18/2007

After taking my Canon DSLR in for a minor cleaning of the view finder, to my surprise, the few specks I had on it multiplied by 10! Pros: close by my house Cons: The nasty little old lady (the owner's wife) more

Friendly and well-stocked 9/10/2005

This crowded little camera store is jammed full of good things for photographers. You can buy your chemicals (although they only seem to carry Kodak brand), get paper, lenses and filters (they have boxes and boxes of unlabelled filters for $5 each if you're feeling adventurous), have your camera repaired, check out the latest technology, get film developed or old pictures repaired, pretty much anything. If you mention that you're a student, get 10% off. more

Garland Camera & Repair Shop 9/4/2005

We always take our video camera everywhere we go. When we were here visiting family, our video camera quit taking shots. We took it to Garland Camera and they had it fixed in less than 30 min. They did a great job and the people there were exceptionally nice. The office was clean and they charged a minimal charge. more
