I've been going to 1st Choice medical for very many years and they have gone downhill. The office staff is very inconsiderate and rude and the PA that I recently used gave me wrong prescriptions and didn't keep them on file. To make matters worse, the office staff blamed me for the PA's mistakes and also blamed the lab for her mistakes. Too bad. more

Wish I read these reviews before going here!!! \r Total incompetency!! Very rude I had to go back 2x in a week then when I called up to speak to someone the provider did not hear a word I said. I canceled my apt for being a new patient since they can't fix my acute problem I am certainly not going to give them any business for any chronic issues. I hope someone with a voice over there reads these reviews maybe then they will not lose anymore patients. more

Worst care, rudest staff and doctor's - and if you don't have health care insurance don't go here. You'll be left until there is no other human being left to be seen (they really should have 3 sign in sheets - appointments, walkins and no insurance). For $100 you're not going to see a doctor anyway - just a nurse practitioner that could care less. And yes, they will try to hold you up for as much in extra fees as they can. They wouldn't treat a sinus infection for me unless I had an EKG! Sorry - just didn't have another $100 with me - and had already been there for over 3 hours. more

Friendly, Caring, and Professional Staff 7/31/2011

As a drugstore/pharmacy manager (who hates going to the doctor) I was very happy with the service provided at this estabishment. I read some poor reviews that were posted about First Choice Medical but decided to give them a try anyway because of the convenient location. I am glad I did. Everyone was friendly and professional, and set me at ease. From the receptionist to technichians to the physichian's assistant, I felt that I was offered the same level of care that I try to provide for my patients and customers. I would definitely recommend First Choice Medical. -C more

Changed for the Worse! 5/17/2011

First off, I still adore Dr. Goldman; he is caring, well informed, and always concerned about his patients. Unfortunately, his staff has consistently gotten worse over the years. I have been going to First Choice for almost 17 years, in the last two years, I have found myself putting off my visits and giving STRONG consideration to finding another primary care office. There has been a number of staffing changes over the last few years, and almost all of it has been for the worse. The receptionists and PAs used to get to be pleasant and caring; they smiled at you, and inquired about your family and job. Now, they are almost without exception rude and disrespectful. I have on more than one occasion complained about the rudeness and apathy these ""professionals"" have displayed. The last time I went to the office, I saw a new and very curt PA who claimed she could not find any record of my prescription although as I mentioned, this has been my primary care for almost 17 years! When she found it(in the front of my FILE), she had the nerve to tell me that she would give it to me after I had a fasting blood test the next time I came. It was like she was holding the prescription hostage.I had a hard time keeping my temper as she talked to me like I was a 2nd grader throughout the visit. As i said previously, I adore Dr. Goldman, but he is hard to see and always busy. I don't like his staff, and really have only stayed because it would be such a hassle to change office. more

Unprofessional 1/22/2011

The place was once good back in the 1990's , after that I don't know what the hell they were thinking . My husband had gone for treatment requiring medication that made him quite sick , after calling day after I was put off with office will call at the end of day . Wrong answer the visit was paid for & the patient needed a change in meds , not to be told they'd get to it at the end of the day. Along with ordering medication for my daughter without checking her chart for any flags for allergy which could result in a life threatening situation . Ah Hello We never returned to this office again Hello Dr. Goldman doctor of the year. should check in now & then to see what these so called pros are doing / discussing investments & in general not even acting as tho they were doctors . more like Kiddie Academy. more

Last choice! 10/18/2010

I went in on a Sunday 1 hour before closing. By the time I was seen it was ten minutes to closing. The PA was rushing me. He told me ""we don't need to get into the details; I am leaving in 10 minutes"". Excuse me, but I waited for treatment. I have no concern for his business after hours. He should have been more concern with my pain. Time to boost those bedside manners buddy! more

Very Knowledgable, great care 6/3/2009

I have been going to First Choice for a few years now, usually when I am not feeling well and for my check up every year. The staff there is very helpful, there are a few ladies at the front desk that should be kinder though. Although, there are a few ladies in particular that are very pleasant. Yes, it is aggravating to have to wait in the waiting room, sometimes for an hour or so, but that is the consequence to being seen at your own convenience. There are a few of the nurses that I like in paricualr, but there is one young one whom I do not care for at all, shes very short with you when you speak with her, even on the phone. I do not have a problem with any of the providers, they are very caring and knowledgable. I usually see one of the PAs when I am seen there and I consider them to be just as good as seeing one of the doctors! They listen to my concerns or questions and may prescribe something for it or discuss alternatives. I have no issues with this office, it is nice to be able to see my doctor when I am not feeling well, not to be penciled in next week when he has time for me! Pros: no appt necessary, knowledgable staff, late hours Cons: wait time is long at times, some of the staff is cold more

All the good people are gone and the only people left don't know what they are doing....and are rude! 12/11/2008

This used to be a pretty good office, and they used to have a handful of really smart and caring docs and especially good PAs. But not any more. Recently, all the good people seem to have left and the people working there now really don't care about what you say, don't seem to know what they are doing, and to make matters worse are just plain rude, especially one of the doctors and one of the new PAs! They sure seem overworked and uncaring, and the office staff are especially unhappy. Pros: They will see you....eventually. Cons: The really smart doctors and PAs who were caring have all gone elsewhere. more

First Choice 5/19/2008

The medical staff is very informative and helpful. The best part about going there is that I don't have to wait days to see a doctor. There is usually a wait to be seen, but I rather wait an hour and get treated today and get the medicine I need, than wait two of three days to see a doctor. Pros: great staff, seen the day you need to be seen Cons: bring a book to read in the waiting room more

No Problem. 3/19/2008

Dr. Herman is the best Dr. around. He is a teaching doctor at the college I graduated from, NYIT. Every time I go there he diagnoses me on the spot and educates me, he doesn't just throw pills at the problem and push me out. Also, he gives me free samples of prescriptions whenever possible so I can save some money. Pros: Doctor is always in.. no appointment needed. Cons: Having to wait my turn in line.... more

Terrible office, terrible care 2/21/2008

This office is absolutely horrendous! Every time you go in, you're waiting for at least 2 hours, reading all the pharmaceutical advertisements on the walls and (I kid you not) the plaque on the wall of the Republican party thanking Dr. Goldman for his generous contributions. Sickening. It's obvious that these ""professionals"" care way more about soliciting free lunches from pharmaceutical reps than taking care of their patients. Then when you are finally seen, the nurse (since you NEVER actually see a doctor) couldn't care less and totally ignores your concerns, basically just shushing you. To get a referral for a minor skin problem, I had to go to First Choice TWICE, each time to get prescribed a treatment that did not work at all (just wasting $50 on needless prescriptions). Then on the third visit (that makes 6 hours of total waiting time to be seen, mind you), I was finally given the referral and could get the treatment I needed. I have to find a new PCP! This place STINKS! more
