In response to ""user review"" made on 1/24/10, by PSB at Citysearch, we offer our answer to the following: \r Yes, we have made changes to our name.\r \r FABER CONSTRUCTION PLAN.\r We remodeled kitchens bathrooms, patios, sunrooms, etc., which we still do.. Then we progressed to:\r \r FABER EXTERIORS.\r We did aluminum and vinyl siding with very good experience in both. When windstorms blew off sidings on others, our buildings were never damaged. Example:Heathcliff Drive in Pacifica. We installed the vinyl siding on the only 2 story building on the block, color BLUE. No damage whatsoever. The owner was extremely pleased for selecting our company. Then we progressed to:\r \r FABER AND SON, INC.\r We are now involved with dual paned windows, siding(wood, fiber cement, vinyl) and gutters. If you will notice, Mr. Faber is still the owner and still has the same contractors state license #520863. We are not trying to fool anyone. Mr. PB hired our company to install fiber cement siding on his building. We started on the south side where there was approximately four feet clearance between the building and the fence. After one week of work, we were asked to stop for one week to allow a second contractor to be able to run his equipment , tools and to pump cement to rear of building where he was constructing another project. We cooperated. \r \r At the end of this week, we were told to wait another week because the second contractor had not completed his job. Therefore, we started another job. \r \r When Mr. Peter Bertrand did call us, we could not stop the other job, so he hired another company to complete the job. The other company , not knowing how another company does their work, removed what we had done. Mr. PB attempted to charge my Bonding company and State License Board. \r \r The Bonding company and Contractors State License Board did not think charges were justified. Therefore no charges were made towards our company.\r \r I regret this action against us as this is the first time that I have had a problem like this. I hope everyone will understand.\r \r References are available more

Worst contractor experience we ever had. 1/24/2010

Faber and Son, Inc's workmanship exceeded our worst nightmares. They installed siding and before they were 50% done, the side of the house had noticeable ripples in it like waves. When we said many issues needed to be resolved before their next payment, the foreman began yelling, kicking ladders and throwing equipment. Faber cut corners during installation, substituted inferior materials, and blatantly ignored what HE wrote in the contract. During our meeting with the owner to discuss our issues, the foreman was very disrespectful and kept talking over us, almost yelling, while we were talking. It was clear they were not listening to us, so we sent them a 17 page list of issues to be resolved, which they ignored. We had another project going, so to stay on schedule we had to hire another contractor to rip off all of Faber’s work and start over. CA law states that the down payment is the lesser of 10% of the contract or $1,000; plus materials delivered. Faber’s contract required almost 50% up front and we didn’t know the law at the time and we were silly enough to think Faber would abide by the law under which he is licensed. CA law also says you pay the contractor incrementally AFTER the work is performed and is acceptable. Faber required all but the final payment BEFORE the work is performed. So we were in a real bind when we discovered the extremely poor quality of his workmanship. Also be VERY careful, Faber changes the company's name periodically. It has been known as Faber & Son, Inc., Faber Exteriors, and Faber Construction Plan. If you want an absolutely fantastic contractor, hire the guy we hired to fix the mess; Exterior Remodeling Specialists in Pacifica (650)355-5948 did absolutely the best job we could ever imagine or hope for. Pros: The lower level workers were polite. Site was clean. Cons: workmanship, conduct, basically everything. more

Find a different contractor for your own sanity 2/2/2007

I had them replace some doors and windows on my home. They were fine at first while I was watching them work. But I couldn't take all the days off work to watch them and as soon as I wasn't looking over their shoulders the workmanship was terrible. Mr. Faber installed a different door than was promised me and refused to fix any of the problems I pointed out to him. I called him countless times after that only to get promises that they would be coming over, but then no-one would show. If you have to use these guys then I'd suggest a little fun game- counting how many lies they can tell you in a single conversation. Pros: Cheap Cons: You need to watch every step of the process more
