Expressions Futons & Furniture

In regard to the previous review (posted 12/21/2008) we would like to post a response to clear our good name. Expressions has a store policy for futon covers; if you are not happy with a futon cover for any reason, the unused cover in original packaging may be exchange only. This was explained and noted on the customer?s receipt at time of purchase. The customer knew of the policy as stated in their review. more

Several years ago I purchased a futon from Expressions and I had a good experience. Recently, I returned to the store to purchase a new futon mattress and cover. After seleting a mattress, I searching through their in-stock cover inventory and found one that I was unsure about but thought I would take home to see how the color looked in the room. The salesperson was aware of my hesistation. After bringing the cover home, I decided against it. I never took the product out of the package and less than one week later, I drove the cover back to the store, with the receipt and requested a refund. I was told that as many items in the store are special order their are no returns. I explained that this item was purchased off the shelf and given that I had spent over $250 in the store and was a returning customer, I requested that they make an exception to this rigid policy that was not clearly explained at the time of purchase. The manager told me he would ask the owner and call me back in less than two days. After one week, I did not hear from him so I called the store again, and he told me that they would not allow the return. Bottom-line, with so many competitive stores around with better customer service, and more reasonable return policies, I won't be shopping there again. more

This place was recommended to me by a friend (both she and her mom have had great experiences there), she said I had to check out the "big yellow house on 99." I just moved to the area and needed a bedroom set & living room furniture, and was afraid to even look at prices. But I shopped around and not only did this little mom & pop joint save me over $200 on my sofa & loveseat alone (I had seen the same exact ones down the road for more), they had the best prices I've ever seen on mattresses. The salespeople were very knowledgeable on their products, and they were very patient with all my questions. Some of the items I bought were not even from the showroom, but from their catalogs. And the delivery and set up was very reasonable. I've had my furniture for a few months now and have been very happy with the quality. I had a poor experience with Expressions Home Furnishing when ordering a futon cover. After being assured that my cover was "one size fits all", we went ahead and ordered a size that was not available in the store. After taking it home, we discovered that the cover did not fit. In an attempt to return it, the store owner was rude and uncomprimising. We were not even allowed to exchange the cover for full store credit. Overall, I found this establishment to be overpriced, lacking in selection of product, and void of customer service and integrity. Wow! I got not only great customer service, but I LOVE the furniture I bought. Their prices were better than anyone else I went to. The sales people are very friendly and knowledgable. A comfortable shopping atmosphere, great selection in the showroom and catalogs. I've furnished my entire house and have sent a bunch of friends there too. Pros: Great Prices, Large Selection, Friendly Service Cons: none more

The owners are the friendliest people you will ever encounter when shopping for furniture. They aren't just trying to make a sale, they really love what they are doing and want people to have exactly what they are looking for. I bought a futon from them about 7 years ago and it is still in great shape. And when I moved and lost all the hardware, they were able to quickly get me a replacement set. more

Owners were knowledgable, quick to offer additional info, and very personable. I was referred to them by another furniture store that didn't have what I wanted, which says to me that they are respected by their competition. They had lots of different styles to choose from, both in their showroom and by catalog. I thoroughly enjoyed doing business with them and it was even better that they're a "Mom and Pop" type business, doing everything the old fashioned way, while still staying with the times. more
